Well, too bad I don't feel that when I watch it.

the errors are perfectly acceptable... its like Refractive Reflections said they put out a ton of episodes in a short time so quality control is going to suffer a bit.

the only error that even bugs me is in the episode where the rat king mutates vernon and Irma into rats. Donatello says something about getting the turtle blimp but in the next seen all 4 turtles go to the air field and get on a plane. at some point they fall out of the plane and are caught by Donatello flying the blimp.

the rest of the errors i find amusing and you can see how they would be over looked but that one is just insanely bad.

The animation errors in the first few seasons, I could deal with. However, It became a problem later in the show when the animation declined in quality and the errors became more apparent. Then again, this show was made in the 80s, when continuity errors were commonplace in cartoons.

Yeah, haha- Starscream/Thundercracker/Skywarp were always swapping around, I remember that most of all.

Its more forgiving that many of these were animated in Korea or China (and even Europe for that matter) were inferior compared to those animated in Japan, which by the late 1980s had a reputation for quality animation. Something out of Toei or TMS will beat anything out of A-1 or MW Dublin anyday. I feel that since many episodes back then were recorded often just six months prior to airing (compared to today where its a year up to as much as 18 months), and combined with more episodes in certain seasons, just doesn't give the time to revise and polish. But unfortunately this short window led to more substantial errors in terms of misinterpreting the storyboards, which while partly a writer's error, also no doubt had errors based on animation.

You said it well. Not allowing enough time to animate the episodes and rushing the seasons (esp. season 3 of the OT), caused a lack of quality control.

Understandable, in the pre-digital era. Tho I can't help but wonder, if other pre-digital cartoons can fix their animation mistakes later on (again, referencing shows like Batman:TAS), why couldn't OT TMNT? Seems the companies for OT TMNT were rather lazy, or just waaaay too busy!

I need to rewatch that episode.

Given that it was the late 80's and early 90's, the errors in the original TMNT series were definitely acceptable. Were the same errors done in the Nickelodeon series, I don't think that it would be as acceptable. That being the case, Batman: The Brave & The Bold did an episode titled "Bat-Mite Presents: Batman's Strangest Cases!". In the episode the show poked fun at the animation errors that were common among Batman appearances in older shows where Batman and Robin made appearances like Super Friends and Scooby-Doo. Given how much Nickelodeon loves the original cartoon, I could easily see the Nick series doing a similar homage.

Check out Blue Optimus Prime
While Transformers definitely had its share of animation errors, I do make room for the possibility that, THAT particular image was not an error. I remember as a kid thinking that the energon chains had somehow turned Optimus blue.

Ha! I need to see that episode!

I've been watching a bit of the old Hanna Barbara SuperFriends era of toons, and their animation errors probably put TMNT to shame. There's one episode when Batman apparently dies yet we clearly see him standing alongside the other league members contemplating their own mortality. So hilarious!

With TMNT, the animation quality was often a bit more ambitious than the old Superfriends (with camera angles or dynamic character posing), yet you're almost sure to spot two or three clear errors in every episode (mask color, belt buckle, wrong mouth to dialogue). There are sometimes when I can't help but think a bored animator might have made an intentional error just to amuse their buddies. I totally did that as a kid with my TMNT coloring books to make it more accurate to the source material.

Maybe the reason why folks seem to remember all the TMNT mistakes as compared to other shows is because people still watch the old show comparatively more than other contemporary shows from the era?

It was still a humorous video though.

Yeah, this reminds me of something the Angry Video Game Nerd (I think it was him) did a while back after he had rewatched the entire series in chronological order.

Apparently, this video grew out of a Yahoo! Answers question from February 12. I didn't even know they made videos inspired by that feature of the site.
