It's not your "opinion". You're wrong about the definition with something with a clear definition. If I were to call a tank a cow, and someone would tell me "no... that's a tank" I can't just say "it's my opinion that it is a cow, so you can't tell me it's not."

Yeah that seems a bit bonkers.

It's really weird to call Lindsey being gay "political". If you don't want to get into politics don't ****ing read this.
Mutanimals is and always has extremely political for a mainstream comic. You'd have to be an idioti not see the message about animal testing. Besideds that, Null has always been caracature of capitalism and the mutanimals have always been environmentalists. This is a more hardcore version of those characters, If anything they're going to be more political.

If anything having an LGBTQ character in tmnt is late! It's my favorite comic but it sucks in the diversity department...but then again, I've never pictured Stockmam or Karai being heterosexual.

This is what I am talking about. You don't have to be rude, so please stop. You should be mindful next time.

Well in Mirage Karai has a daughter, so I just always assumed Karai was straight. There's no point in giving the villains love interests though so it never comes up.

Does Baxter Stockman need a girlfriend? Nah.

Actually, I think he's flysexual. There were no sheep where he grew up (and from my experience, women don't tend to put out when you beat them at chess).

Eh, hopefully this won't be as simplistic and hamfisted as the Archie comics. Null can by all means be a greedy, sinister corporate figure, but I highly doubt it will all be as boring and two-dimensional as the original message wise. IDW's run seems generally beyond that.

Sorry this is so rough, but I was looking at the #4 teaser cover and, well, I kinda want this to be true:-

I know, unlikely. But I can hope!

That's really good Kingoji. It'd be kinda weird to have Ninjara and Alopex in the same universe, but yeah... Umeko is my best guess for that silhouette as well.

Who is Umeko?

I bet its an all-new female character since Alopex turned down the invite. I bet Alopex was originally going to join the group but the writers switched out the idea when they found a direction for her they liked better and a new female mutant was created to take what would have been her place. Just a theory.

Well, I wasn't a huge fan of turning Triceratons into mutants, and I also wouldn't want Ninjara to be turned into a mutant.

I also thought that it would be Ninjara, albeit a skinnier version. but who knows...
Well, we all can guess that that center silhouette is Ray, right?
Looking forward to this team growing. And I'm loving how they're handling them so far.

Right... As evidence, I submit your reviews of the more obviously political TMNT Adventures issues. How is your noted dislike of those not the result of personal politics coloring your perception of the work? Or does it not count when you do it?

I am doing nothing different from anybody else's; people just find my comments more objectionable than other people's. Almost as if they were looking at them and misinterpreting them, looking for something to be offended abo...oh, wait.

So if a character in a comic uses the term "man" then it must be a slight toward some subsect of the LGBTQ demographic, right? They're reading a comic and actively looking to be offended.
Like people in the threads, due with my comments, you mean? I only commented on something in particular that happened to annoy me; among all the other things in the issue, Null Incorporated's baffling nicknaming is less important to me than the fact that the basic plot makes no sense unless you assume that Lillian is incompetent. I am not the one who highjacked a thread to express indignation about something I did not actually say.

Back when April's dad was healed by the ooze during the "Northampton" arc, people were sending angry letters (some published in the back of the comic) about how offensive it was that Mr. O'Neil would be happy not to be disabled anymore. That was "ablest" and a slight toward "handicap culture".
Ah, so somebody other than Bobby Curnow did read my letter. I'm glad. You seem to have misunderstood it on a rather fundamental level, though. My problem was with a) the issue showing April and her mom as good people deciding to experimental and potentially dangerous substance to a person without their consent or knowledge, something that most people would have considered obviously immoral if Kirby O'Neil had not been disabled, b) and that Kirby's disability only existed in the story so that it could be cured. My problem was never that Kirby was happy; it's that the book very clearly assumed that this was the only possible reaction.

Yeah see this is what I thought the problem was (I haven't read the letters page since like issue 3 so I just was going by what I've read elsewhere). It is a wee bit shady, but I don't know if I'd react if I were in the same situation - whether in Beth's or John's situation.

(btw Kirby is the show's Mr. O'Neil, not IDW)

As happens far too often in this incarnation of the turtles, the people associated with Null, Inc., are antagonists who are presumably meant to be competent, but aren't. There is absolutely no good tactical reason for their pitch to Lindsey to be preceded by her kidnapping, except to allow the plot of the issue to take place. And that right there is a considerable strike, as the plot of the episode is nothing to write home about.
Well, it's established in the opening scene that the Mutanimals don't let Lindsey out of their site. She has a mutant with her wherever she goes. So they couldn't have just pitched her; the only way to communicate with her is to extract her from that situation. Jillian didn't even think of it as a kidnapping -- she thought of it as a rescue. Which, from an outside perspective, is a pretty reasonable assumption

I'd imagine that Jillian did try to just reach out to her, first -- but then she learned what Linsey's situation was, saw that she's always with mutants, grew increasingly frustrated at that, and eventually formed this plan. Which would have worked if it hadn't been for Pigeon Pete's tracker. And those meddling kids.

I don't usually like to get into plot/character motivation discussions, and prefer that the work speak for itself, but since this one is pretty much, as you say, the foundation of this entire first issue, I just couldn't help myself.

Oh,I have no memory of that. I assumed it was some non-Archie/IDW comic.

Mondo Gecko,Mutagen Man, and Man Ray were never villains. Used by villians in two out of three cases but not villains themselves. Slash has been a villain as well as anti-hero. I am wondering if instead of anti-hero they may go full on ally and Hob break away from the group he created and be a villain as he started out or would that not happen?

Also, what connection does Null have to Shredder if he/she is sythesizing the mutagen for Shredder?

Here's my review of TMNT: Mutanimals #1 at TMNT Entity.

A really exciting start to the miniseries. Just on a tonal level, it switched gears suddenly, but organically (going from comedy to action to tragedy, etc.). It left you feeling not entirely sure what to expect, both storywise and emotionally.

While the spontaneous existence of the Null Group was a little clumsy (they really should have at least have their existence foreshadowed in an issue of the ongoing), it tidies up a dangling bit of plot logic (how did a group of assassins master complex genetic mutation procedures?) so the ends justify the means.

Loving all the throwback characters, and while some people have said the book is too Fred Wolf/80s oriented in its roster, I think it's actually a pretty solid mix of personalities from all across the brand's history; Fred Wolf/Archie, Movies (Slash is basically Tokka on a visual level), Nickelodeon and original IDW guys. Just needs a little Mirage/4Kids in there and everyone will be represented.

Gonna be a shame when the miniseries ends and the Mutanimals have to go back to being recurring characters in the ongoing.

The silhouette makes me more think of a more modern off the street Jagwar. looking at it, it makes me think he would pull out knives as his weapon. or I am thinking of Dreadmon...can't think straight at this moment

also, is the front suppose to be mutagen man?
