Well, yeah, it's more a fight of fancy than serious speculation.

Still, if it turns out that I called this right I expect some sort of prize! You listening, IDW-peeps?

Just a theory.
I'll bet you're right. Sounds logical. I personally assume that at some point Alopex WILL join with Hob, though. Or maybe something will happen to Hob, Slash will lead the Mutanimals, and THEN she'll join up.

I dunno, I'm hoping Alopex and Angel form a dynamic duo and stay linked up for a while, kicking ass and taking names.

I wonder if we'll see them in the Mutanimals mini-series or Attack on Technodrome next. Or neither.

I don't like this issue of the Mutanimals comic book. It embraces suicide, which is a very serious issue. I don't think I can read the rest of the mini-series.

If you are referring to Mutagen Man wanting to die because of his freak existence, Hob convinced him he has a role in life to fill and abandoned what they were doing in order to preserve his life. Has Mutagen Man been fully convinced? Maybe not yet but Hob will show him his life has meaning.

Embraces suicide? What the hell is wrong with people, like I seriuosly hope you're trolling because that would make me look like the idiot, that's how stupid your comment is, I would rather be made to look stupid than for you to be serious. I mean so many are trying to bitch about something rather than just enjoy a story, that for the first of four parts is coming together nicely already. Where have we gotten this feeling of entitlement that these stories need to fit into our individual set of preferences and if it doesn't then we throw a hissy fit

I loved that bit. It was shocking and unexpected, but not for shock's sake. It actually meant something in the context of the story, so kudos to the IDW team for being so daring!

People should just chill out, it's a comic. Ink on paper. No one is actually getting killed or committing suicide.

Oh. I see now.

I am sorry if I strayed off-topic. The scene of Mutagen Man putting the gun on his head greatly distured me.

I promise I won't stray off-topic again.

The likely intended effect. Media that can challenge us, make us feel things, means it's likely doing its job.

I stayed away from this thread until I had read the book as is my ritual. I was excited to see that the discussion waiting for me would be flush with posts, (what like 8 pages?) I don't know if disappointed was the right word for it.

I really like how these micro/mini-series are expanding the world the Turtles live in, fleshing out Ancient Japanese Foot, The Utrom Empire and the rebellion against it and now the Null Group who seem to be much more relevant to the series than I initially imagined. A few passing lines instantly connect Null to the story and give us a broader perspective on who they are.

The Foot outsourcing their mutagenic programs to Null means that they must have had a big hand in mutating Alopex, perhaps that facility that Shredder burnt was Null property. Null & The Foot do have another pretty interesting difference, whereas the Foot have largely stepped out of the corporate takeover world, Null has a visible public presence. The concept of Null Cola speaks a lot about how big they must be as a company. Its easy to compare to something like Coke or Pepsi and think... well that's probably what their market share is like in the TMNT universe so this company is not only conducting horrible mutagenic experiments but at the same time is a household name.

I think the introduction of Lindsey's ex was handled well and was very natural. I think a few months ago there was a Turtle Track letter asking if there would be any gay characters in IDW's volume but then got sidetracked into a Ray Filet/Merdude fan fic. I think the team at IDW did a great job of sharing a relevant part of one of their characters past relationships without making it a hot button issue. Very often an audience is introduced to a "gay character" rather than "a character who is gay" and I feel that type of shallow writing does a disservice to the media and its audience in portraying a believable character. In Mutanimals Lindsey's relationship isn't shoehorned in simply diversify the cast or check off a token character type but rather her past will deeply inform how she proceeds into this mini-series.

Just like how Hob being a former victim of experimentation and hate for humans will factor heavily into his next moves, Lindsey's feelings toward her ex's morals compared to her own as well as her track record of working for morally flawed groups, (Stockgen, Hob, perhaps now Null) give us a wider view into not only her personal feelings but how they affect her professional choices. She started working with Hob as a way to prove Baxter wrong about her Slash experiments, I wonder how Null will play off of this in swaying Lindsey to their team.

Mutagen Man, wow what a crazy introduction. I was pretty shocked with how far it went as to him being wanting to be "saved" by the Mutanimals in such a final way. I'm not sure that what happened should be something you would really be able to compare to a real life assisted suicide or euthanasia since we aren't talking about a flesh and blood person here but even if we are Hob seems to be the only one aware of just how inhumane being experimented on by the likes of Null could be. Doesn't this scene actually pay homage to a movie? I want to say Total Recall but I really can't be sure as I haven't seen it in ages but it also reminded me of a similar reference on an old South Park concerning flawed Towlie clones.

Overall I feel that the Mutanimals are more than ready to expand and explore the TMNT world that IDW has been fleshing out masterfully. It seems without the Turtles themselves in the spotlight Hob and company are free to address a whole different perspective on mutation that the Turtles have never occupied themselves with.

Good issue, nice story, nice way of revealing Lindsey's sexuality, without overhyping, or ridiculing it, and overall nice dialogues between characters. I really enjoyed this!

Now on the suicide thing: If you being 'offended' by this, Mirage and Archie had much more of these kinda 'serious stuff', so maybe TMNT is not for you.

I don't beleive in chaining a writer/artist, so his writing style will be so politically correct, that wouldn't be one being in this whole would, who would get offended. Offending someone is not against the law (well, maybe in some countries with totalitarian regime), and should never be the first thing considered in art, instead it should be self-expression.

All I can say is, YOU go through the type of torture, abuse, and degradation that Mutagen Man has obviously suffered and see if you don't feel that death might be a preferred exit.

Not saying you should change your moralistic views on whether or not you believe suicide is right or wrong; I'm saying you're reading a story and this character does not hold your same views... and as others have said, it is a brilliant, moving, and thought-provoking direction for the story--so I say, nor should he hold your same views.

I applaud IDW for going here, regardless of any personal opinions I have on the matter. This is an awesome story.

Strange thing, isn't it? It's morally okay to kill people who don't wanna die aka. your enemies. But it's unacceptable to do euthanasia for someone who wants to die.

I'd also like to point out that the very first TMNT material (which is Mirage TMNT #1), has a scene where Leonardo lends his sword to Shredder, to take his own life.
Let's not forget about the scene from Blind Sight (or was it Blind Faith?), where Leo almost commits suicide.
This is nothing new to TMNT, especially Mirage touched a lot of serious/adult topics, and I'm fine with lighthearted stuff too, but I'm also happy to read something that is more then good-guy-punching-bad-guy.
