The 4Kids Turtles had a much more serious universe and most of the jokes from their side is because of their frustration with the Fred Wolf Turtles who believe they can, for example, make advanced technology from a flashlight, which isn't actually that far from what could happen in that series when you think about it. Also, people who complain that Turtles Forever seem to totally forget that the first five (hell even the first twenty) episodes of the FW cartoon isn't even close to a good chunk of the of the episodes. Seasons 3-7 (151 episodes, the bulk of the series) contain quite a lot really goofy episodes that clearly aren't meant to be taken seriously at all. So it's not really that off to depict them like they were in Turtle Forever. And finally (personal opinion here), I don't care about the Fred Wolf cartoon, I think it's a poorly written and poorly animated mess. |

We Wish you a Turtles Christmas and Turtle Tunes are the worst thing the turtles ever started in. I never watched the one sub-train live special with the action figure-like costumes but it looked bad. If we're going to go on this list, I'm going with NM. It is too cheesy and had very little interesting things going on for it. And Venus, less said.

The worst TMNT thing to me was the new movie. In the older cartoons, they were cheesy because it fit with the era and it was just kinda that way, but the new movie was extremely rushed in my opinion. It was a typical Michael Bay explosion fest and the plot was extremely dull to me.
That and since Transformers is on it's like..5th movie? They are going to beat this into the ground for sure and each one will probably be worse then the last since doing movie after movie like that normally doesn't go very well. I would like it alot more if the designs didn't look like Shrek who bought a a get ripped in 90 days exercise tape though. |

My vote went to the Next Mutation if only because of the backstory changes and lack of research that went into Venus' inclusion. It completely destroyed any enjoyment, ironic or otherwise, that could come from watching it, at least for me. I may be a little bitter because I actually watched that on television as a kid and even then I knew it was ********. The turtles I liked were the 1990 movie's turtles, and as a kid that's how I knew them [I was not fond of the 87 cartoon as a kid] so seeing them portrayed the way Next Mutation did it was insulting to me back then.
If I had to pick a runner up, though, it'd be the 2007 movie. Sure, TMNT III is bad, and 2014 is gross to look at, but neither of those made me downright ANGRY like Splinter's characterisation in the 2007 movie did. I actually rather liked 2014's take on Splinter for the most part.

The PD movie takes my vote. Bad character designs and the story was terrible. It seriously didn't seem to care to reference the source material other than superficially. I'm still angry they changed the Foot Clan to a thuggish terrorist group. The whole "ninja" thing was thrown out for all the characters in the movie actually.
NM despite the overuse of sound effects, sometimes off characterizations, and overall campiness, the (corny, punny) jokes and fighting scenes were good (I give respect to anyone who could pull off fighting in a bulky hot costume). I also liked the character designs. I still think it was an okay concept, but horrible execution. The only reasons I don't like TMNT 3 are because of the costumes and that the story was boring to me. TMNT 2007 doesn't really deserve to be in this poll. The whole magic thing never bothered me because its been done in other versions too. It's not unusual for the guys to fight magical alien beings. The only things I didn't like are Leo's characterization and the tolerable Turtle designs. |

TMNT 3 (1993 movie)
I didn't like anything about it plus I don't remember much about it. I just watched it twice. |

Other, as in Image Comics. It was nothing but gory violence that mutilated the turtles. Its such a far cry from the 1987 cartoon I grew up with and define the TMNT. Its nothing I want the TMNT depicted as so its best to ignore it. I also ignore Next Mutation as best I can. The tone was too goofy and had a lack of interesting characters but it was Venus that is the sole reason I ignore that version. The late 90s' was a depressing time for fandom with these two poor iterations. Others opinions may differ but neither is popular amongst fandom.

The only part I liked in TMNT 3 was when...

Imagine how we comic fans feel. Your precious cartoon is the real far cry from the source material. The Image comics did awesome things with the groundwork Mirage had set in place. Hardly "nothing but gory violence that mutilated the turtles". It gave us the most character development Michelagenlo will ever have, it showed Shadow growing up, it gave Casey time to cool his jets & be a better lover/father, the turtles learned how to travel the astral plane, they had their family ties tested, they dealt with mortality, morality, it's got awesome themes. It was action packed, dark/gritty, yet not without heart or humor (albeit adult, at times). The TMNT at their best, IMO. It's hilarious you think The Next Mutation goofy, but find sh*t like this completely acceptable- ![]() You OT fanboys sure are hard to take seriously. Well, that's unsettling. |

I voted Next Mutation on reflex, but...I should have said the PD movie.
WHAT A WASTE OF A VOTE!

I will always put Turtle Christmas and Tunes as the "worst" because they are so easy to ignore. Not many people outside the core fan base or internet reviewers even know they exist.

Yeah of course they're bad what you described is why they're easy targets, way too easy targets. They are so minor and so poorly remembered it's not even worth mentioning they exist.

Likewise the Mirage Turtles were never all serious after the early issues, their personalities weren't as well defined right away. The Mirage Turtles have plenty of silly and playful moments and they joke around quite a bit. |

A little too harsh don't you think? Maybe you need to get past the fact that the OT means more to some than the comics.
