I'm pretty sure the main hero of the new trilogy will be the daughter of either Luke or Han/Leia. Since Finn is black, its rather obvious he's not related to them.

There's no way the new hero/heroine of the trilogy won't be either Luke's daughter or Han/Leia's children. I'm guessing the woman is the daughter of Luke.

Let's not get carried away, there is still nearly unlimited potential for both the Marvel and DC Universe.

However, I would say that this film already looks way more exciting than any Marvel film so far. That Chrome Stormtrooper sure was beautiful.

I didn't say Finn had to be the main main hero I'm just saying he seems more like the Luke type (trying to figure stuff out)

and I'm pretty sure I saw a Lightsaber in his concept art.

I was wondering about this just this afternoon,Count Dooku replaces Darth Maul and Palpatine uses him as a placeholder until his master's experiment (Anakin) is ready. What does Dooku hope to achieve as a Sith apprentince at his age,older than his master? I never understood Dooku's longterm goal.

Random thoughts on the movie:

-I like the new cast already, they just have a great look for some guys who are getting into an adventure..

-So BB8 is the new R2-D2 I'm guessing. I love the new droid and the fact that it's not CG which I never would've thought. I'm a bit bummed that it seems R2-D2 stayed with Luke in hiding all this time (based on the trailer). I mean they were the only characters who were in all 6 films not counting Anakin/Vader and always liked the fact that they were supposed to have been owned by many different people and would've liked that to continue. And this is from someone who hated R2 and C-3PO in the prequels, I much preferred Jar Jar.

-The chrome trooper looks awesome, Kind of wish the helmet had more differences from normal Storm Troopers.

-I already mentioned it earlier but I'm not a huge fan of the empire still being a huge force 30 years after RotJ

Well I think his speech ito Obi-Wan in AotC is indeed heartfelt, he feels the Republic has failed and is in need of a change which is why he became a Sith, of course he lied about not doing anything bad so far but that's about it. I'm sure this was all expanded on in EU books but all that is non canon now. As far as being a Sith well maybe he was also seduced that with the Dark side he could live forever by Darth Sidious similar to Anakin. The rule of two never made much sense to me either the question you have here can also be applied to the OT in which Vader knows the Emperor wants Luke to turn to the Dark side and replace him and he wants Luke to turn to the dark side to destroy the emperor so I guess Dooku thought he could either get Anakin on his side or be able to beat him. Sadly making everything EU non-canon makes some continuity holes since there are many inconsistencies that were explained away in books/comics. Hell most of the Clone Wars was explained through EU and counting the "canon" show got cancelled that one didn't get to explain most of the things that happened in the actual books.

Of all of the Extended Universe stuff outside of the six films and Clone Wars(show not prior animated mini-series) that should be cannon it should be Darth Plageuis. The title character is the one that sets everything in motion and if he is in the third trilogy then it makes more validity to that. Its a pretty good read as well.

Well Darth Plagueis is already mentioned in Star Wars: Episode III - Revenge of the Sith. Palpatine talks to Anakin about the Sith Lord in the opera house scene to try and turn Anakin to the dark side because the Sith Lord had dealt with saving people from dying. Of course Anakin was interested in this because of the visions about Padme. But Darth Sidious himself killed Darth Plagueis in his sleep so the only way Darth Plagueis could appear in a future movie is if they focus one of the non-episodic movies on him.

Perhaps the description of Kylo Ren collecting Sith relics will bring him back as Plageuis had a back up plan that Palpatine did not know about. It work out similar to how the Tengu Shredder was revived.

I admit I am just above the casual fan level as the book in really the only thing I got into beyond the movies but it does a great job of setting up a backstory if a bulk of it is considered canon.

Yeah no argument that a Darth Plagueis / Darth Sidious movie would be really cool. I also have the book that you are referring to and it was a good one. I'm assuming that Kylo Ren is the apprentice in The Force Awakens and looks like he's taking on the role of Darth Vader; the enforcer of the Sith. So who is the Master? Your theory for Darth Plagueis could work if Disney wanted to make it so. There are some things about the Expanded Universe that I really like, like Darth Plagueis and all of the Boba Fett related books, and there are other things I hope Disney doesn't rectify. I thought the Darth Plagueis book was very interesting. We'll just have to wait and see what will become cannon or not.

I did see the trailer for the new "Star Wars" movie, and it was mildly interesting. However, I keep remembering that the director is J.J. Abrams, who did such a poor job bringing "Star Trek" back to movie screens (at least in terms of appealing to THIS particular "Star TreK" fan's notion of what "Star Trek" is, or should be), so I have a feeling he might do something similar with "Star Wars". I would be happy to be proven wrong. -- PL
