Is Nick Mikey really the dumbest of all Mikeys?

Funny as he could get, the whole part where they were sneaking through the sewers, following Splinter, and he tells them to "follow me, walk this way!" and Mikey thought he would be cute by mimicking Splinter's elderly walk, but was met up with Donnie reaching for his bo and smashing Mikey on top of the head in annoyance.

Maybe he is, but that doesn't make him the worst. he's young and still growing up. But man, 4kids' Mikey still irks me.

Smartass, yes, but flat-out ass? Not really. He was never intentionally mean or rude, and he did have a lot of compassion and concern for others. He just came off a bit thoughtless or careless at times when he spoke. Like when he says he smells something like burnt hair when they are at the farm, and Splinter gives him a glare, and he suddenly realizes what he just said. He wasn't trying to be rude or douche-y, it just came out that way.

I agree as he's really a kid that doesn't know any better so he ends up saying the wrong thing at the wrong time. I don't think any of them are idiots, but the OT one seems the most mature to me. Raph is the only one that actually acts like an ass whether it's sarcastic Raph or the angry rebellious Raph

We have to remember that virtually all TV shows and movies are written by adults, most of whom either cannot remember what it was really like to be a child or who are actively trying to repress all memories thereof, so portrayals of kids and teens on screen are often seen through some very warped lenses.
I agree that the current Nick 'toon is doing a better job than anyone ever has before of showing them as teenagers. They do sometimes go a little overboard with Mikey's goofy side, but at least it's not the full-on moron caricature who does nothing but scream 'WHOOOAAAA!' or 'Let's get OUTTA here!' we ghet in most other current 'toons, even those 'Instant Classics' (.....) from Disney Pixar Worldwide Inc. Dot Com MegaCorp........

Do any of you actually hang out with teenagers in real life?

People keep saying the Turtles in the Nick show are the first and only ones to act like teenagers. THEY DON'T. They act like they're 10-12, not 14-15. I think it's actually the people who keep stressing this point about Nick "finally getting it right" who are the most out of touch. The Turtles are skewed VERY young in this interpretation.

I do agree that in most cases they're also skewed older. They're always more believable as 17-19 rather than 14-15, but that could also be explained as, they had to mature very fast because of their circumstances and lifestyle. But none of the guys act older than 13 on the high end on the Nick show. Mikey's f*ckin' 10.

There are plenty of teens who act similar to the way the Turtles act in the OT, 2K3, and the movies, even if they're a little mature. Nick on the other hand should be called "Tweenage Mutant Ninja Turtles", as they're generally WAY too young/immature for how old they're supposed to be.

I don't believe so. He's silly, gullible, and a bit of a space cadet. However, many young kids are. It's all things that will mature over age and isn't really a sign of his intelligence. They've already had instances on the show where you can tell that if Michelangelo applied himself and focused, he could be very smart. 2K3 Mikey on the other hand was an outright village idiot.

And how many teens of 15 and up have you ever encountered that were like that? Seriously. Because I WORK with teens EVERY DAY. And they are NOT like that AT ALL. Gullible? Maybe in the freakin' 50's, but NOW?! Not a chance in Shell. Kids today are smart, sneaky, conniving and street-wise in ways even our generation would be awed by. Goofy? maybe in the "let's blow up the science lab" or "let's steal all the panties from the girls' locker room" kind of way, but MOST teens would be WAAAY beyond juvenile crap like water balloons and whoopee cushions. Uh- no. He's not. He's closer to an 8-yr-old on a sugar rush. Actually, no, scratch that. I've known 8-yr-olds who were MORE mature than that. Heck I raised two cousins (both boys!) from 8/9 to 11/12, and guess what? They were NOTHING LIKE THAT. Smarter, more mature, and more savvy than Nick's Mikey is supposed to be a 15.

As for the "ages" of the various versions, PD's Mikey (and to a lesser degree, the OT one) is actually a LOT like most of the teen guys I'm around EVERY SINGLE DAY. Video-game obsessed, stoner, party-animal, snarky pervs, the lot of them. some of them make those versions of Mikey look almost saintly in comparison!

OT Mikey was based on Spicoli. Spicoli was apparently a high school senior, which would most likely make him 17-18. Possibly 19, as I have no problem believing he was held back at LEAST once. Either way, OT Mikey is essentially Spicoli, so he may be an analogue for an OLDER teenager, but a teenager nonetheless. Also keep in mind that Spicoli in Fast Times actually WAS based on a real person.

But yeah, Nick Mikey ruins the whole deal about them being authentic teens. He is NOT a teenager unless he has a serious developmental disorder. The others maybe 13 or 14. Not Mikey.

Now while I liked a lot of the other Mikey's, I think it's important to know that while all of them are similar yet different, the OT Mikey was the ONLY one who didn't go out of his way to be annoying. I think a lot of the other Mikey's can be funny, but I personally think all of them except for the OT Mikey, had their annoying moments. Some were more annoying than others though but OT Mikey didn't try to act annoying or bother others. He just chilled out a lot of the time, partied whenever he could, was optimistic and had a never ending appetite for pizza. He never bugged the other Turtles or acted perverted or really acted childish like the other Mikeys. That's why he's the best Mikey in my opinion.

Nick Mikey is funny, but many times he is annoying and disgusting. You all know, his eating habits and very immature. I want him to be more like IDW Mikey: still naive, but more mature and with a big heart. I want to see Nick Mikey to be what the real Mikey is: the heart and soul of the team. In the Invasion episode I saw a small glimpse of IDW Mikey in Nick Mikey: When he was comforting Raph. It's time to see Mikey grow up.

4kids Mikey isn't that bad, I went back to watch the episodes and he's actually pretty cool....until he won the battle nexus.......but he later learned to be humble about it....kinda.
