On a serious note, I'm very pleased with Mona's design. They've proven themselves to handle female mutant designs well. They didn't give hair, breasts or long lashes to Karai either. There are subtle details in the design that makes someone think that the mutant's female rather than male. When the design was first seen on the book cover, people already suspected that it would be a female mutant/alien. I'm glad they've changed her from her original appearance in the original cartoon.

I've been impressed with all of these character reveals. I've been waiting in anticipation for the triceratons and Fugitoid. I didn't really enjoy the arc that much in the 2003 version but for some reason I'm really looking forward to their appearance on the show. I don't remember Lorg Dregg from the original cartoon but his design looks really impressive and promising. I'm really excited for season 4 to start. Like Cubed, I wish that we got an image of Renet that wasn't just concept art. We've been waiting for Turtles in Time for so long now.

I know what you mean about the "Feminine touches" most animators like to use. I guess the ponytail never bothered me as a kid because...well, I was a product of the 80s. Telling males and females apart was like apples and oranges: It was pretty obvious. (Though I still think the Misfits from Jem looked like drag queens). Not only did they make it obvious she was female, they still managed to make her look pretty without giving her the "hot girl" treatment. They made her build a bit slimmer and gave her a cute profile so she still looks like something that could scare humans in this universe, but still very appealing. I can't wait to see her in action.

Though, I must confess...I was sort of hoping to see the pink scarf again. I thought it was cute and would've been a nice callback to the 80s. But having her in the show again would still be a nice callback.

Hey, if she is a minor character, do you think she'll be added to the intro? Think about it: They could put her in that last shot where we see the Turtles flip and run past Casey and she could appear on top of the building right above Casey. There'd be a quick shot of her silhouette and sword, looking up a the roof the Turtles make their final appearance on. Just a thought...

Seriously though, I would love to have female characters not be relegated to love interests.

Likes them soft, fluffy women. And likewise, would be major points if they at the very least spare this one from the love interest fate.



Look forward to seeing if they make a decent figure. From the design alone I kinda already want one, provided Playmates doesn't go cheapskate on it.


Edit: Actually, if they did ever give Raph a special someone, if not Mona and if they go a similar route other versions have... maybe a return to the farm house at some point and some mutant fox turns up who's been hiding out in the woods; unknowingly mutated back in early season 3.

TC, I agree that she may not be a villain, but I thought maybe they'd think she was and then she turns out to be good.

Indigo, I think having Mona as Raph's love interest would be fine as long as they don't do it too quickly. I can see Raph being the type to try to resist his allure for Mona after knowing how that affected Donnie with April and him not wanting to be like that, but eventually it turns out differently. Some slow progression like that would be perfect.

I'd be very surprised if Mona wasn't his love interest. Personally I'm actually looking forward to it, so long as she has something more than just that. She needs her own clear goal separate from the romance angle.

I like the idea of it being like Hans Solo and Princess Leia, a relationship that slowly builds and strays away from the love at first sight thing we've gotten with the other three. Which would also allow Mona to be her own character before they actually start introducing the romance.

I watched the video from the Panel and they confirmed that Mona Lisa will be Raph's love interest on the show, So it's happening, So far all the Turtles have love interests, Donnie with April, Leo with Karai, Raph with Mona Lisa, And soon, Mikey with Renet.

Yes! I was ok with her not being a love interest but I was not ok with her being someone else's love interest....

I am not crazy over the design. I liked her hair in the 80s, and since in the ot she was human first it never seemed stange or anything. But I hated Karai's design at first and now I totally love her "Human" design. So I will give it a shot.

I'd say the best way to hear Zelda Williams' voice would be to find a clip of her work on Legend of Korra as Kuvira, but all of the Youtube clips I can find of her character are slightly sped up.

She has a wonderful, and very distinct, voice.

I doubt April is going to space with the Turtles and then meeting Mona Lisa. Unless she comes to earth to meet them, and sees her there.

I remember seeing Renet without all her garb on and I didn't even recognize her for a few moments there, so that could make a big difference in how Mona looks.

As for Mona being Raph's love interest, I'm actually curious how he will deal with that. Hopefully it will be the slow burn like Leo sort of had.
