About the only thing going right over in their camp is TF collector line. However good luck trying to find one of those at retail. As a collector of many lines I've really been impressed with TMNT. They continue to release more characters and you can walk into a store and actually find figures on the shelf. It would be nice to have a TMNT collector line however it sounds like that attempt didn't work. From what I read the classics line didn't sell well enough to continue to keep going. |

Which is because their output was poor, not that there isn't a proper audience for it.

Sometimes when us collectors vote no with our wallets it means no product at all. Even though we would have purchased if the product had been better. I think our hope right now is if someone were to create a TMNT collectors club so they can make small runs like GI Joe/TF club or Matty Collector. |

Also I cannot stress enough how much I hate those collector clubs. They make those figures so expensive and in most cases hard to get. I would rather go after Scratch or Shogan Triceraton in box on Ebay before I placed any kind of membership to any of those clubs. Quote:
MASK is making a revival. Matt Tracker is suppose to show up in the next Gijoe movie.

I know that I am in a minority when it comes to the collector series: I couldn't resist buying that first set of 4 'Classic' Turtles when I visited that comic shop in Vancouver a couple of years back.
![]() I had planned to keep them packaged and went to great lengths to ensure that they were safely packed in my case for the return trip to Shanghai. Within days of being on the wall, I had to break these guys out. They pose very well and make great display figures. It's been correctly stated that neither these, the movie figures or the rouges are toon or movie accurate. For my money, these are interpretations of the characters. Done so in a way that I liked, but not too many (here) liked. I believe that they sell well enough, based on some folk stating that they can't get there hands on them. Anyway, it was an attempt by Playmates to break the adult collector market. They failed it seems to grab a strong enough market hold for further releases. They made classic mistakes..bad eye painting is not really excusable. I have one with a wonky eye, and yes, it's annoying. Shouldn't have happened. The movie Turtles should have had 'spots', but didn't. Again, like the basic figures, I like them for what they are. They weren't expensive and I picked them up very easily. Taking the idea of an interpretation of a character is exactly what First Gokin did with their Krang. It is nothing like screen accurate, but it's a possitive move towards a fantastic figure that's based upon the screen character. It ranks as one of my favorite Turtles figures, and it beats any of the Playmates figures by a long shot. Having said that, so does the price range. I did wonder if Playmates were to venture into the $100 figure market, could they gain a foothold? I believe they could. Their attention to the minutest detailing in even their poorest lo end figures amazing. Scale that up, add in hi end painting, and I am sure they could pull it off. Unfortunately, playmates may be reluctant to give the adult collectors market another stab owing to the previous attempt, and the required investment: and why risk it when they hold a lucrative market with their target audience. On that, as it clearly states on the figure packaging, their figures are for the 'over 5s'. This is pointed out almost every time I get new figures. My consistent reply is simple... I am over 5 years of age !! Haha Last edited by DVD; 07-21-2015 at 02:18 AM. |

still i would argue Plymates states the sales were poor but you cant blame poor sales on poor stock. i mean how many people on here actually saw an abundance of these figures anywhere? if you ask me they had no interest in the adult collectors and only care about the parents buying for their kids

maybe its just me but I kind of hope they do more mutations of the transforming ones.
They could do Steranko to Rocksteady Zeck to Bebop Stockman to Fly Hamato Yoshi to Splinter Slash to pet turtle Spike and Shredder to Oroku Saki.

At least we would get those characters in human form if they did that, so better than nothing. I would buy them.
