The Ninja Turtles put Shredder and Krang out of commission for awhile and did defeat them. Beserko would not have to. He would want to get revenge on the turtles for stopping his plans and preventing his revenge on Krang. Who is to stay at the end of Beserko's arc Shredder and Krang would come back and Krang is the one who does away with Beserko?

If I am not mistaken something like that happened on Power Rangers in which the rangers defeated the Machine Empire in combat, but not fully. It was Lord Zedd the favored previous main villain that did away with the Machine Empire courtesy of a bomb.

I thought Berserko was a badass villain when I first saw Get Shredder as a kid. However, he's not as good as I remembered him. He had an interesting backstory, but he was defeated easily in combat by the Turtles. One episode was enough for him.

In any event, Dregg was a decent villain anyway. He's better in season 9 on subsequent rewatches. He was at his best in 10, though, as he was more competent in that season.

I feel like they could have brought Beserko back, showing up to stop The turtles as well as Krang and Shredder, as he'd have sort of a Baxter Stockman role, since Baxter Stockman hated both the Turtles and Shredder and Krang but Beserko would be more more intimidating. It's not like they couldn't have made him more of a threat later on, like they did with other villains. I think this is where the Red Sky Season could have been better if villains like Beserko, Megavolt and Chronos showed up more than once and all 3 were threatening. I just felt like they wanted Beserko to take over and then bailed out on the idea at the last minute and have him defeated in one episode.

I think he looks cooler than Dreg and it makes more sense for him to take over as lead villain anyway.

I always thought that maybe Beserko could have returned in some way and was wondering if anyone liked this idea.

Beserko is taken to a special institute for alien beings. sort of like a jail for super powered criminals. In the episode Cyber Turtles, The Glaxxons end up smashing parts of the institute and Beserko is free. He tries to find Krang and the Turtles and while the Glaxxon's surrender and swear to destroy the Firestar, Beserko overhears this and builds a spaceship so he can follow them. Unlike Krang, he actually believed the Firestar was real and obtains it before the Glaxxon's destroy it. That way we can see the Firestar and Beserko again.
