True, it does look different than the one in Turtles Forever, but that may just be the animatic,

Kinda think of it, Turtles Forever aside, has OT Donnie ever owned a "portable portal"?

Overall I think the 3D Krang design is pretty spot-on and accurate to the OT. The "proportion" is somewhat a moot point since it was hardly consistent in the OT anyway!

Not only that, Krang has also been retconned as a cousin of Kraang sub-prime and therefore was once an Utrom too, technically.

There you have it - it was ultimately the Kraang race who connected the entire TMNT multiverse into one single continuity

Also it seems like OT Donnie was holding the same "portable portal" he used in Turtles Forever, and probably used it to beam the Nick turtles over. How it all started? The OT Technodrome malfunctioned which led them all to the 2003 universe (how Turtles Forever began). Again due to Krang/Kraang tech

I wouldn't categorize missing the end of season 3 as "not missing much"

I guess most people can keep up by simply watching Dinosaur Seen in Sewers! followed by Annihilation: Earth!, although I'd still recommend watching all of them (especially non-filler eps) if time permits.
Oh man i not even thought of that, thanks for giving me the idea Definitely will go on my list to do lol.

Made another gif of 3D Krang in a much more natural stance (taken from the official NYCC panel video):

He is definitely the Krang we all knew and loved (or hated, take your pick)

i still have to laugh over his looks in the new cartoon...i mean his double chin changed into a tripple chin! xDDD It looks so ridiculous i couldn't stop myself from laughing...I can't wait for scenes with him in his body suit and Kraang Subprime his so called "cousin" lol. KSP should wear his Irma suit for that, so both could ridicule each other..

On the subject of Turtles Forever I'm just going to be honest, I don't like the Fred Wolf cartoon and I'm not at all bothered by it's potrayal of the Fred Wolf turtles. From my point of view Turtles Forever was mostly accurate and when I watch the Fred Wolf cartoon it just further cements that feeling.

The Fred Wolf show, as popular as it might have been, is not good. Even putting aside production errors, it still suffers from really bad writing. When people defend it they usually go for the comedy as their main argument, as comedy is largely subjective and eventually became the show's primary drive, but personally I just find the comedy painfully unfunny nine times out of ten.

The only way I stand watching most episodes is by making fun of the flaws, not pretending the show's own comedy is funny.

I can't recall him ever having a "portable portal" all I remember is his stationary portal in his lab.

I understand. It's definitely aged. During the time though, it was one of the greatest cartoons I ever watched. It wasn't every day you got a cartoon with ninjas. For me, it was the overall design and feel of the turtles. It was ridiculous at times but we kids didn't care. We just wanted to watch them kick butt (I use those words mildly since there wasn't a lot of action). There are some fans of the OT that don't remember when the turtles did fight a mutant banana in one episode. While they may have gotten the turtles' characters a little off, their fight with the mutant food was absolutely correct. Nick's show is basically given the younger generation what we 80s fans grew up with except a little more faithful. Personally, I still hope we get a crossover with the 2003 series turtles since I believe the current run of the turtles have a lot more in common with them. But it is nostalgic for us to see these old turtles again. They're like the 66 TV series Batman for me.

I agree with this, although personally, I liked the humor in the OT, especially when they pointed out the ridiculousness of something, like why a character from a dimension based in ancient Japan could somehow speak English. There was a lot of ironic humor, which is what I enjoyed most and which is why I can still enjoy the show to some extent as an adult. Of course there are some eps that I definitely enjoyed more as a kid, like "Raphael Knocks 'em Dead"...the ep with the comedians being abducted and was introduced to Barney (or was it Bernie) Stockman. I loved this ep as a kid. Thought it was funny. As an adult...not so much, but give it credit for the bad humor as that was the point of the episode. So yeah, ironic humor. This also why I liked You Can't Do That on Television so much, but as an adult, I really prefer the 1979 and 1981 eps. Hm, probably also the reason why I'm enjoying Sonic Boom so much. Ironic humor.

So they decided to give the name out of the 5th episode, but not the 4th and 3rd?? Unless I'm missing something.

The Weird World of Wyrm

They could be out of order.

That makes the third character in she show with a dead eye. (4, if you count Old Hob.) It's like their go-to disability that doesn't actually incapacitate a character and sign of veteran warrior-ship...

Everybody loves some exposed, color-coded guts, right? I'm sure they put some space-plastic over that. It might even have a purpose... like, "Dude, did you know your pancreas is bleeding?!"

I guess they got far enough in finishing production for the 20 core episodes they were planning for this season, and decided that they could manage another six after all. Setting it at 20 to begin with might have to do with problems they had making season 3, and why 3 was so scattered schedule-wise. They went with what they knew they could manage, and when they achieved that, could shoot for the full 26.

Don's not human in the clip showed, and it's implied that two of the three wishes have been made... I don't think Donnie would be dumb or selfish enough to risk unleashing a being of ultimate chaos on the universe over his crush.

Given that Casey looks like Dr. Manhattan, and based on what April said to him in that clip, my husband theorized that he must have wished he was smart/smarter than Donnie.

Spoiler:
Now this is from Deviant Art where they got their info from tumblr, so this could be totally wrong, but I read that the first season 4 episode is going to have a MAJOR Apritello moment. I don't know what it will entail, but if your husband is right about Casey wishing to be smarter than Donnie, I'd say that it's huge.

However, this makes me wonder who made the other wish, and what they would possibly wish for?

I never grew up with the 80's turtle toon but I've seen a couple episodes and
yeah, it's aged pretty poorly. It was great at the time but compared to today's standard of cartoons it's mediocre. Most older cartoons are.

I doubt that the 2k3 turtles will meet and talk to the turtles but I sure hope that we at least get a little 2k3 easter egg in the crossover. Whether it's just the turtles peering into their dimension or voiceless 2k3 cameos I'll be fine with it. I wonder what the the Nick and 80's turtles would think of the 2k3verse. Mikey we'll probably point it out being too melodramatic or something because they're mostly goofy.

Ciro mentioned that the turtles "might" hop into a comic dimension. Might being most likely yes. So it will be cool to see the mirage turtles interact with the nick and 80's ones. Does anyone know if it's just an episode or an hour long? I'm reading people saying an hour but is it confirmed?

We should probably judge OT and contemporaries by the standards of the time. Some important considerations:

* Yes, the Mirage comics as well as DC / Marvel existed at the time and were / were going in a dark direction. But the spotlight was 90 % on the FW cartoon, G1 Transformers etc.

* FW was produced before BTAS, Gargoyles etc. started to change the way people look at cartoons. The mentality was still very much "Cartoons are for kids!" as a result of what had happened in the TV landscape during the previous 25 years. Even with Roger Rabbit, those cartoons were still a few years off.

* The toy angle was HUGELY controversial at the time. Congress had only passed the law allowing toy-based cartoons in 83. So parent groups etc. (who were still influential) were very active - as they had been during the 60s / 70s too.

This article from 1990 is interesting because of those three reasons.

That said, I'm hoping for some tech-related jokes in the crossover. "Why are you using stone age VHS cassettes of all things?" and "You call those blocks "Smart" phones?"

The original cartoon is the best aged 80's cartoon and holds up well considering it pre-dates the 90's cartoon rennassaince.

I think what bothered me most about Turtles Forever in TMNT is how it actually implies that destroying their 'multiverse' is kinda easy, with almost any sufficiently high level of villain being able to do it. Then they imply that even 'in-universe' the characters are considered to be not real, being everything is ultimately governed by a comic book universe, written by real 'in-universe' versions of Eastman and Laird. I think for me, the movie almost ruined my interest in TMNT because while there is escapism, there is a point where you can get too weird and then it's a lot harder to escape into it without wondering 'How can they ever relax if their multiverse is destroyed that easily?' and 'Why should I care about them when even their own 'multiverse' says that they're not real?'

The other thing that bothers me a lot is simply that one can't state their dislike of this particular movie without people saying your dislike of it is wrong and that somehow you just aren't seeing it's 'goodness.' Most other TMNT cartoons and films people aren't this strong about pushing a particular 'liking' and 'acceptance' towards any of them, which makes me not mind most of the bad bits and that I can take them or leave them for the most part. (Even the 2014 Turtle movie too! ) I think what I really wish is that people acknowledged that some of us just didn't like it, and don't push that are opinions are wrong. Not everybody liked that movie for X, Y and Z reasons, and to them, those were dealbreakers. For me, it was about as delightful a turd as the 2014 Turtle movie was, mainly because of the things I listed.

Anyhow, I think this crossover looks like it's going to be interesting. If they have the Mirage Turtles I wonder how they are going to fit in their grittier and amoral personalities, since the comics went into some quite dark territory? Are they going to 'water them down' or will they show them in their full 'glory?'
