I can sort of understand Matt's frustration with how they handle his favorite turtle in this series. This shows' version has his bada** moments but Raph has been handled better in other versions.

Had to think through what I my real opinion is about this episode.

I liked it. As for a Raphael and Donatello fan it was pleasant to see the hothead's softer side and what liking somebody could make you do. I have a huge problem with the romance part, though. Yes, I don't like how every relationship is rushed in the show and the Raph/Mona thing is not exception.
I just could never imagine Raph falling for a girl so suddenly and I was dissapointed at first. Even if it was her fighting skills I only thought Raph just would have some respect towards Mona not strong liking. However, some of you guys convinced me that love at first sight relationship exists and I just don't believe in it.
Raph was a little insecure for me. All that soft and shy and stuff at the end. He seemed to be so nervous. It was just... strange to see him like that.
Leo felt a little bit out of character with not giving a chance for the Salamandrians but everyone has already pointed that out.
Loved again, how there were more interactions between the characters. I live for those moments. Even if they're just tiny Tims.
Loved Mona's character, truly. Instant flirting, girl? I just need more girl characters like her. Who are strong, independent, differ, trustworthy, noble. Who people can look up to!

Overall, it was a good episode. Not my favorite one but still good.

I disagree. Let's not do that. He's allowed to have his opinion, however wrong, annoying or misplaced people think it is.

Obviously it's best if he actually watched the episode itself since Raph wasn't treated as badly as he's implying, but...

...yeah, I can see why he feels that way. I love Raph's softer side, but I also wouldn't mind seeing more of his tough side, which feels like it hasn't been shown as much as it was in the first two seasons.

I don't mind if this Raph isn't his favourite version or he dislikes him. The issue is that he keeps coming back to the Nick cartoon forum just to criticise the show and Raph. It's basically the same complaint every time. I don't go off to the 2014 forum just to criticise it or read every Justin Bieber article just to complain about him. I mean, there are aspects I love about 2012 Raph and others I don't. That's fine. But- my God- he went too far and he knew it too. Look I loved watching Dr Who when Matt Smith was in it. Quite liked David Tennant, but I really got into it when Matt appeared. He was, as people say, my doctor.

When Peter Capaldi came along I gave it a shot. I lasted about five episodes, genuinely tried to be open minded, but it just wasn't working for me.

So I stopped watching it. And I didn't go round forums dissing Peter or Jenna or Steven Moffat.

But that's how you handle it, not by posting moronic rants.

Raph has been handled better in other versions.

I wouldn't say 'better', I think it's just you prefer that interpretation of him.

Some fans will like sensitive Raph more than tough Raph. Doesn't mean the writers haven't understood or portrayed him wrongly because I would personally say that he's always had that sweet side to his nature, but previously it got overshadowed by his slight rough nut side.

I like both Raphs but I understand why people feel like Nickelodeon has overbalanced it towards sensitive Raphael.

well, I have been known to complain when they make Raph out to be a good for nothing idiot. I was off my rocker at the beginning of season 3 (Raph the plant dog thing).

But even though there not getting it exactly the way I'd want it done now, I do think they are doing better. This episode didn't bother me at all.

I am still waiting for the story behind Raph's cracked shell though, was that a rumor????

They complain about the show's flaws, there's nothing wrong with that. It doesn't mean that they hate the show, it means that there are elements and plot points that some of us felt could have been handled better.

Raph has always had a sensitive side to him. That's not the problem. The thing is that they don't really do much with Raphael to make him stand out in this series. Compared to Leo who has a fanboy side of him, Don who has a crush on April and an edgy side where he is not afraid to shout back at his brothers when they are getting on his case, and Mike who has an innocence to him.

I don't want to be that guy, I really don't want to be that guy but.... doesn't this contradict your name of being content? Every opportunity someone criticizes the show, you verbally assault them? Dude seriously, this is beyond snobbish in attitude whether you think so or not. Matt I do agree with, but I'm not going to bash on him for anything I disagree with.

Now then, I don't like the episode. The designs of the dragons in comparison to last week with the aliens had no creativity; the dragons felt extremely generic as typical creatures. At times though, the animation in the episode didn't appeal to me mostly because of the snowy terrain. Not saying all snow areas are badly animated, but areas like in video games such as Kirby make me feel immersed with the style. Here though, the animation just feels way too grim; though given the circumstances it's excusable, but still these guys have proven to be talented.

As for plot, the story is a typical survival setting aboard the snowy planet. The story also reintroduces the Triceratons, albeit early and the new introductions of Mona Lisa and the Sal Commander. Though Zelda Williams and Keith David didn't fail me in voices as the show excels here, the writing is the crippling weakness once again. Some objectives are rushed or immediately out of left field from dialogue to questionable decisions, especially of Raphael and the Salamanderians.

Then there's the pairing.... I will admit, Mona and Raphael are probably the second best pairing of this series outside Leo and Karai because Raph upon the first interaction had a reason to like her. Way better than Donnie's horribly written relationship or the idiotic love of Michelangelo; despite my praise of one thing, the relationship is what murders the episode personally. Raph gets his butt kicked in the episode and even with liking this "cool" alien, he falls in love with her for no inexplicable reason beyond the mutual love of destruction? For that matter, jumping to conclusions this early is bothersome instead of a steady build in comparison to Leo, Donnie, and Mikey with their crushes or relationships. Can't the relationships be different for each turtle, ranging from flirting, crushes, long term, and steady build?

Do I consider this better than last week? In terms of plot, it was decent at best though could have benefited from further build up. Everything else I feel takes two steps back with uncreative style and one more relationship to nail the coffin of why I feel the show can't do relationships well. Subjective on preferences I suppose, but I can't enjoy this episode; I might have gotten a guilty smile last week, but I'm facepalming here. Hoping for Wyrm and Armaggon to be decent after my unfavorable feelings towards Dregg and now Mona until they get actual development.

No, you're right. As it may seem I always have something to say, don't I? But many have criticism about the show and I've let it slide because they, while personally not enjoying the episode (s), have respectfully stated why and respected others. Like you for instance. I respect what you just pointed out because you were honest but not trolling, ya feel me?

I mean, I will definitely apologize if it came off as snobbish or contradictory to my name- I really, really do. But, man, I just can't stand people who come into the forum- the only time they come to comment- is something negative and not just negative but almost slanderous, ya know? I'm not judging why Matt has issues as its understandable, I get the frustrations because of Nick not doing as good of a job in comparison to say season 1 or 2, with the latter of my actual favorite episode wise. Raphael still felt out of character to me, but sometimes as the fans people are, we believe what we know is right of the characters we love. Baxter is my definitive example of me having serious issues, but either way I can use the 2003 series to help fill my quota.

Dude, just please be wary of doing this for each episode that comes out. You did it to me, you did it to Bauer, and now Matt. I get people like the show, but I get kinda peeved over blind attacks. We can argue from sunshine to moonlight, but it doesn't make a difference on what we believe and disagree on. Best to avoid emotionally colored arguments after all.

I'm still irritated over Raph and the tip of the iceberg came this episode beyond my second least favorite with Clash here. Just once I want to see this character shine here, something to differentiate from the other TMNT in this version. They can't do that and I honestly can't take it any longer as another potential character in Mona felt wasted; Armaggon better not suffer here as Dregg or Mona, otherwise this might be the weakest set up for any of the characters in a season for the show yet. I'll remain optimistic, but if I have issues I will bring them up, best for a fresh point of view beyond simple contentedness.
