I take it neither of you guys have read many of the novels? Leia was a princess because her adoptive family on Alderaan were the royalty of that planet. But since Alderaan is no more.... *shrugs* So, no, Leia is no longer a princess, and certainly not a "queen" of ANY planet, because it no longer exists. She IS, however, still a ranking General of the Resistance/Rebellion/Republic. And for the record, Leia DID begin her Jedi training under Luke, but eventually chose not to continue, opting to run the Republic and raise her family instead. She got as far as building her own light-saber (which is actually a Padawan test) but that was it.

Amidala was an ELECTED Queen of Naboo, but relinquished that title after a new queen was elected and she became a Senator instead. So she wasn't a queen anymore, either. Naboo's royalty isn't blood-based, but electoral, so it passes from one title-holder to the next. This has all been explained in the movies, books, and even in the comics.

Yes, I have only read Darth Plageuis of all the novels. That was because it kicks starts everything from Episode 1-9.

I thought Bail Organa was a senator. Was he a king by bloodline thus his own representative in the Galactic Senate?

It always bugged me when characters in the original trilogy still referred to her as a Princess after her planet was destroyed.

I believe it was the wife who was a member of their royal family. And yes, he was a Senator. I do recall mention of the Palace on Alderaan and how she and Winter (the lady in New Hope who was leading the briefing before the Death Star run) used to play together in the gardens and galleries there as children. It was even mentioned that people thought they were sisters, or that Winter was the princess, because they were so close, and because Winter acted more like a "royal" while Leia was the "tomboy" of the pair. I forget which novel that was in, but I think it was I one of the Heir To the Empire trilogy books.

Cheers for the Leia explanation.

Anway, on USA Today.

The Poe/Finn 'Star Wars' bromance has taken over the Internet

One's a First Order Stormtrooper with a heart of gold. The other's the best pilot in the galaxy. And it's a bromance whose fires could only be stoked on a Star Destroyer.

John Boyega's Finn and Oscar Isaac's Poe Dameron don't spend that much time together on screen in Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Finn and Poe escape from the First Order via TIE Fighter meet-cute in the beginning of the movie, and later they have they are reunited on the Resistance base, with Finn keeping care of Poe's fashionable jacket and droid BB-8 for most of the film.

Just a few minutes of screen time, really, but, oh, has their relationship inspired the Internet with memes, artwork, fan fiction and all sorts of other things to celebrate #Stormpilot. Or #FinnPoe. Or #Pinn. Or #FoeDameron. Whatever it's called today.

Here's some of the best we've seen thus far: [view link above]

'Star Wars' smashes Christmas Day box office record
(no surprise there)

http://news.yahoo.com/star-wars-smas...214752422.html

Los Angeles (AFP) - The latest "Star Wars" film has smashed yet another box office record, raking in $49.3 million on Christmas Day in North America -- the highest total ever on the holiday, industry figures showed Saturday.

"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" easily bested the previous Christmas Day record take of $24.6 million set by "Sherlock Holmes" starring Robert Downey, Jr, which opened on December 25, 2009.

"'Star Wars' continues to be a bright, shining beacon of light at the box office," Jeff Bock of industry tracker Exhibitor Relations told AFP by email.

So far, "The Force Awakens" -- the highly anticipated seventh installment in the blockbuster space saga -- has taken in a whopping $890.3 million worldwide, with $440.4 million in the United States alone, Bock said.

The film has received mostly glowing reviews, and is being credited with breathing new life into the Hollywood juggernaut franchise launched by creator George Lucas in 1977.

It had already set a number of other box office records -- highest-grossing domestic opening night, biggest domestic single-day sales and biggest global opening weekend.

As far as all-time box office sales, two films by James Cameron hold the record -- "Avatar" ($2.79 billion) and "Titanic" ($2.19 billion) -- and it is expected that "The Force Awakens" might unseat both.

So I went to see it again with some friends of mine on Boxing Day, but the projector shut down halfway through and then possibly caught fire, as the smoke alarms went off about five minutes later, and we were all evacuated. There was a definite burning smell throughout the place as we left, and a firetruck showed up, so I guess it was serious.

Apparently we can show up anytime in the next six months and they'll give us new tickets.

No big surprise. It's also overtaken The Phantom Menace as the highest grossing Star Wars film.

We know that Kylo Ren's given name of Ben means he was named for Obi-Wan Kenobi, but also a nod to Luke's son in the non-cannon expanded universe, his would-be cousin. Jacen Solo who Ben Solo appears to be an analog of killed his aunt, Mara Jade. What if Luke goes on to marry an analog of Mara Jade who is killed by her nephew, Ben. Then disappears to form the Knights of Ren only to resurface some time later to kill his fellow students? That would give Luke reason to hide Rey away. Why Jakku and leave her with Pegg's junk dealer jerk character though? You all can tell me if I am off or if I am close.

That's cool, maybe they can touch some things up and add some scenes, ya know. They should have Han squeeze one off with the bowcaster at Kylo before he stabs him.

Han shot first, and all.

I doubt it, doing so will piss off the fans if they change things in the blu-ray release, but I'm sure it'll have deleted scenes and director commentary.

JJ Abrams isn't the type of director that goes back to his previous films, and add stuff on them later.

The fate of the Ewokes or rather what should have happened to them according to science. The visual the article created made me laugh.

That scene is perfect as it is. JJ isn't going to make the same mistake as Lucas.

In all seriousness, what is annoying is that we're going to get a bare-bones blu-ray first. Then six months after that we'll get a director's cut release. Followed by a collectors edition. I really doubt there will be anything really special on the first release of the movie.
This is gonna get milked to high hell.

I planned on getting the DVD the day of release. You think I should wait? When it came to Days of Future's Past they flat out told X-Men fans to wait a few months and the real cut will be released. This I had not picked up on that George Lucas altering vibe.I just want one version to own in DVD.

The Rogue Cut of DoFP didn't come out until a year later... if you need a copy to rewatch as soon as possible, you might as well bite the bullet and get it day of release.

Then pawn for half the price of the second release and buy it in its place, that is if its not attached to other films I rebought on DVD format back in '04. I suppose that is what I will do. I have seen it twice and wanted to wait until the DVD release to watch it a third time.
