Making Use Of Our Resources: The Episode

Jokes aside, that was an awesome ride. I really like the "trippy" episodes this show does. Fungus Humungous, Into Dreams, etc. I loved seeing Mikey's action figures come to life, & Vision Quest Leo on Leatherheads back was the coolest thing ever. The rap sequence was pretty funny. Best of all, BELLYBOMB! & that he was voiced by Charlie Murphy made my damn week. Also, reference game on point this time around. I lost count. Oh, & for as much as I like the characters, it was nice to have a break from April & Casey & get back to square one, turtle brothers.

Well, I just watched the episode. It was interesting, but my feelings are a little mixed on it. Felt like they missed some opportunities...you know, have the bros learn more about their misunderstood baby brother.

A couple of parts did slightly bug me though. I thought Little Mikey was adorable, but Donnie's crack about how Mikey has the maturity level of a six-year-old bothered me, especially since Mikey didn't defend himself....then again, Donnie and Raph always seem to say junk like that so I should be used to it...and siblings do tease so never mind.

Okay, now the thing that did bother me was Casey making that crack about Mikey being stupid. I would expect Raph to say something like that, not Casey because he's not the brightest bulb in the box either. Just seemed kind of mean...and, I would expect Raph or Donnie to say something like that. Not someone dumb calling another person dumb. That's like someone 350lbs calling someone 351lbs fat.

Okay, as for the episode, I liked how Mikey's innerself technically outsmarted the Neutrinos by hiding in his imagination.

Other things....it just felt like this ep was just loaded with references that I know I was missing. There were some scenes that had me thinking of other things where I just couldn't put my finger on, but oh well.

The other sides of Mikey that we saw, I really liked. I liked Serious/Angry Mikey most...and figured that the size difference between them all was a way to show how much each possess his subconscious. I found it extremely ironic that the serious/angry side was the biggest. Up until this episode, he hadn't been particularly goofy. Look at the last episode. Leo going on about not knowing how to handle the rage...Mikey's suggestion, "focus it on the demon dudes". That was good advice.

I also found the rap a bit insightful. I'm probably looking too much into it, but...I'm under the impression that Mikey does have a "rage" side, but has had more practice to keep it in check, unlike maybe Raph. In the rap, he also mentioned that he doesn't like the anger feeling. It makes him feel bad so he does his best to remain mello. Like I said, I'm probably overthinking it, but I just feel that this says a lot about the character and kind of goes nicely with the last ep, don't you think?

Also, is Mikey the only one of the four that's actually killed something? Not like what happened in the season 3 finale when that hatch opened up and one of the Triceratons flew out. I mean like an actual kill. Those Neutrinos have to be dead. Sounded like he killed them with the way they were pleading. Back in the Into Dimension X ep, I'm pretty sure he had to have killed that hollowed out Kraang he was using as a helmet.

Oh, when Mikey had the others come in on Leatherhead, Pigeon Pete, and Tigerclaw was....interesting. Foreshadowing maybe? Could it be hinting that maybe Tigerclaw will somehow finally leave Shredder and ally himself with the Turtles?

Anyway, good ep, but I wouldn't consider it filler. We learned that Dregg wants the particles too...seemingly... Why?

That's not being dumb (annoying yes), that was his gluttony taking over and being curious over the different new foods. Mikey never got mad from being stopped from eating, He got mad when he went after Bellybomb from taking the money and then later he got mad a Bellybomb/Neutrinos for messing up his mind.

I Think You Mean When The Writers Want Him To Be "Badass" and Even That Is Played as a joke. He's Basically Written As Brain Dead moron Half the Time To Entertain Kids. Which I Question That Since Most Kids I Know Find It Surprising When I Tell Them Mikey Isn't A dumb joke Character Like The Last Two Cartoons Make Him Out To Be. P.S. its A problem When a kid ask why do the Turtles need Mikey.
No there were plenty of times Mikey was a badass that wasn't a joke.

So how many kids did you speak to, I assume it was more than 1000

Well I know 2 kids (both under 10) who watch this show and they both like Mikey, so you can't speak for every kid who watches this show because they will have different opinions on him.

Also no one has complained about Mikey since The Creeping Doom, so they must be doing something right with him.

I do admit this wasn't the best Mikey centric episode because I wanted the episode to be more darker/serious and more emotional.

When I saw the info for this episode I thought, oh no...an episode full of stupid humor. But it was decent. Still I knew they were gonna have a part like the rainbow room I just knew it.

I think this was a missed opportunity for OT and maybe 4kids references but I guess they don't wanna contradict the crossover. Having OT anything exist in Mikey's mind before meeting them wouldn't really make sense.

The Neutrinos were kinda cool. They annoying me in the OT.

This episode was pretty good especially since most will consider it a "filler" episode. It was great to see yet another Archie character used in the Nick cartoon in Bellybomb. I also liked that they incorporated his bad breath from the Archie comics into this episode as well.

It was interesting to see how this show made The Neutrinos villains and not very unique looking as compared to how they looked in the original cartoon. There were still three of them but that was about the only thing they had in common with their counterparts from the original cartoon. Who else thought they may open their armor and we'd maybe see the designs we were used to at some point? And did anyone else hear Vectorman's voice from Vectorman 2 when The Neutrinos "spoke?" I also liked that they were very small beings more like the science of neutrinos in the real world.

I know Raph, Leo, and Donnie didn't physically shrink down into Mikey's brain, but when they went inside Mikey's memories, it did remind me of the weird and not good May East Saga from Archie Comics too.

A lot of Archie love this episode, which I'm always thankful for, and I did really enjoy Little Mikey! He was really cute I thought! "Booyakabunga!"

Oh thank god no!

EDIT: Don't get me wrong I've notice a vast improvement over season 2 and 3 put together I just still don't like this version.

We are the scum of the universe, everyone knows that.

Pollution, war, racism, sexism, the list goes on & on.

Or maybe there's someone like Torbin Zixx out there giving humans a bad name.

Yeah, pretty much. Though the animation was spot on and had a nice imaginative trippy vibe, I have to agree with some of the guys here about Mikey’s characterization. While he has grown as a warrior - in skill and strength- his character often still reverts back to same ol' season 1 problems like just doing things for the heck of it- not thinking or, frankly, caring about consequences until he's faced with them. It's things like these that other iterations don't have issues with. So...yeah, love Mikey as an overall character. He's a great ninja with a big heart and if Nick coukd just balance him right then I'm fine.
But, yeah, I'd be totally disappointed in the episode if not for the fact that I was expecting it to be fillery in nature.

It was good to see Bellybomb, and I loved the family interactions, but the real star of that episode was the animation.

It was beautiful. From beginning to end, just gorgeous.

You give Mikey (and the writers) way more credit than they deserve.
It's painful to read.

I actually really liked this episode. The cantina scene was a little spoof of Star Wars. Plus, the scenes where April controls Mikey's mind was like in X-Men: Days of Future Past. One of the final scenes, despite being sweet, felt like a complete copy of an episode of Pokemon. Three older brothers throwing their youngest brother in in the air was exactly the ending of The Battling Eevee Brothers. The youngest brother in that episode was also named Mikey.

It was driving me nuts who was voicing Bellybomb because I knew the voice. Now that I know....how in the world did they get Charlie Murphy to voice a character on a Nickelodeon show? lol

In this regard, I agree with Vicky. Think about it.

I actually started watching something I hadn't thought about in years and forgot it existed until a couple of days ago. Herman's Head. I used to like the show, despite my age at the time because of the four different sides (sensitivity, lust, anxiety, intellect) of Herman clashing with one another. Sometimes one is stronger than the other and it affects his decisions. Like there was one ep where Herman was lying to a lady about who he and his friend (played by Hank Azaria) were because she was royalty and they were reporters trying to get a story (lust has the most control there and kept beating out sensitivity). Sensitivity became stronger and then beat out lust and intellect (he was all about getting the story) and Herman came out as decent for that episode and made the right, more thoughtful decision regarding the secret the princess was keeping and had confided in him as she didn't know he and his friend were reporters (she was the type to avoid them) and was approaching him as a friend.

So yeah, in that regard, I could see where Vicky is coming from. Mikey can be a glutton...at times. He's the eater of the group (and the cook). I could see his gluttonous side taking over or becoming stronger (for certain moments and seems it's always the case with new foods this season so far). Seems, based on the lyrics from the rap, Mikey has the most control over his rage/anger side....not so much the other sides of himself.
