3 more episodes left of the space arc. The 3rd piece of the generator will be in the episode The Ever Burning Fire which is in 2 weeks.

It was a good episode. It certainly felt like the writing improved for this and the crossover. It was a really good Donnie episode, but I think he should have had more focus. He's been ignored practically this whole season.
The humor was great. The tension was good. Unlike a lot of recent episodes, I was actually wondering how they were going to get out of this unhurt. The Gremlins were easily the worst part of the episode. I didn't realize they were a reference to the movie until after the episode, probably because I despise that movie. Anway, why were they called a virus? I saw nothing in this episode that even related to the actual definition of 'virus', unless you really stretch it, because the Gremlins did tear apart the ship like viruses hurt the body. Once again, Fugitoid was a highlight of the episode. What was the line he said about them being awesome? I forgot most of it. Episode score: 8.2/10

Though I was sitting there calling them Space Gremlins long before the Turtles finally said it, wasn't even expecting that they would. Kinda loved the microwave reference. What, no good one that becomes a pet??

Virus, not a virus, WHO CARES-we got to see Casey Jones murder a space gremlin in a microwave!
While underplayed, I did like Donnie's insecurity in this ep which I thought was a long time coming given his failure with the mutagen antidote. Also I'd freak out to if I was a scientist and learned my planet's science was THREE THOUSAND YEARS behind galactic standards. That...that's embarassing. BUT-gotta give love to the Fugitoid for being a total nicey nice this episode. |

It did look like a virus when it come out of its rock and it did breed and spread like a virus.
I think there might be some Foreshadowing in Bradfords show. Bradford was down and got the Monkey to defend him while fighting ninjas. So maybe during the 2nd half of the season back in the New York, one of the Turtles is injured and the other Turtle will be fighting the foot bots and trying to defend the other injured Turtle.

On a side note, ever since Season 2, the series has only had 3 directors working on episodes in a cycle (First Wan, then Chang, then Montes). Nice to see Chang gets some help in this one with newly acquired (?) Ben Jones. I don't know if it'll help things move along for the animators or what not, but I can just imagine having only 2 other directors besides yourself can burn you out after a while.
To the episode itself though, this episode seemed to lack quite a bit of focus. This thing tried to juggle the underdeveloped Gremlins-esque virus(es), the suspense of trying to stay cloaked, Donatello needing to rebuild Fugitoid, April's use of the Aeons' shard, and protecting the black hole generator pieces they have--which actually got shoved to the end. These things actually distracted and detracted from each other quite a bit, some being more developed than the others. I don't know how Avatar: TLA did it, but it was able to do a lot in 23 minutes without feeling crammed; something that this series is having trouble with. With the highlight being the Chris Bradford cartoon and the guys' reactions to it (not to mention Fugitioid's ever lovable nature) the episode remained a competent but unexciting episode full of the kind of hijinks one associates with a sci-fi disaster setting. *6.5/10* **I also noticed that Mozar still has that same outfit of his in RotAA as compared to his outfit from "Annihilation Earth". I've said it before and I'll say it again, the time travel rules of this series (started in TotY) have to result in the turtles having a hand in the events of "Annihilation Earth" happening, and so far they're playing up to that. ...Which means, yes, we're going to see Mozar fulfill his destiny as Emperor--perhaps because of acquiring all three pieces--and our gang needs a bag of tricks to prevent history from fulfilling/correcting its course. So the Heart of Darkness is invulnerable? Didn't Slash smash it up with his mace in Annihilation Earth?

No he didn't, he smashed a control panel but the Triceratons fixed it.

And theory time! How the Triceratons managed to track the gang down is never explained in this episode. They either planted a tracking device in the first piece, or they teamed up with Lord Dregg. |

So wait, if the black hole weapon can't be destroyed, why did they state their mission was to destroy it last time? "Let's spend fourteen episodes trying to destroy something that can't be destroyed!"

Is it ironic that Fugitoid has lost his head and thus leaving the turtles basically helpless in two versions at the same time? That's happening in the current IDW arch. Nickelodeon, what are you doing???
The Chris Bradford cartoon bit was great, though. "You can do it! For the honey nuts!"

There have been theory's on how it can be destroyed. Someone said that Fugitoid will sacrifice himself by using his fusion bomb to destroy it. My theory is that it probably can be destroyed when it's activated by someone destroying it from the other side of the black hole but that person is sacrificed also.
