The movie itself, basically Danny: The Movie, starring the evil Darth Shredder and his halfway house for troubled New York youths. All of that has very, very little to do with Mirage on any level, and it's like the spine of the movie.

Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the movie. It's just pretty wrong for folks to parade it around like it's this near-perfect Mirage adaptation. It's pretty far from that.

Agreed. I also feel like Leo and Donnie barely contribute to the film... it's mostly Raph for character development and Mikey for comedic relief.

The movie does great by Casey, though. Best portrayal of Casey ever. But Shredder and the Foot... ugh. At least they have the whole Yoshi/Saki backstory.

So far the only movie to make any mention of Teng Shen. And now recently Yoshi and Saki.

Mirage Shredder was a blank slate as we only knew him barely for one issue. Shredder's role in New York in the movie was to train new Foot recruits, it makes sense he would train troubled teens or gang members and make them into Foot.

Its pretty obvious Shredder had already established himself in Japan which is where Tatsu and his first batch of Foot came from.

I like Season One too, but calling it the "greatest" is a pretty far-fetched statement.

Yeah, that Casey was pretty dead-on. I felt pretty embarrassed for Koteas in part 3, though.

Well, keep in mind that it was 1990. They could have made a movie about zoo tortoises crapping in the monkey cage and it woulda turned a profit so long as it said TMNT on it. The 1990 film was way better than it had any right to be.

That being said, pretty much everyone I've ever spoken to about Turtles mainly recalls that movie, and the video games. Granted, I was born in 91, but I feel like most casual fans barely know who Krang is.

God no. I limped my way through to the end of "Return to New York" (and I can't emphasize those quote marks more strongly) and it was actually painful to get through. All the extra wackiness and camp added by the gallon to it, not even a gallon of vodka helped me endure. I'd even rather watch Fred Wolf than 4Kids, at least that's not pretending to "adapt" any Mirage stories or putting out garbage under that guise. The Nick show, they just do their own thing and even if it's pretty far from "This is the definitive TMNT!" to me, it almost always gets a chuckle from me and is fun enough. For a little kids show I think it seems about "just right."

But...it's literally everything great about the Turtles in 26 Episodes! I'd argue there wasn't a single bad episode.

Every other incarnation had at least one dud.

Honest question: has there ever been a Shredder/Turtles encounter more thrilling than the one in 'The Gauntlet'?

"Panic in the Sewers". It's an especially heinous episode as a followup to "The Gauntlet".

Again, that's a matter of opinion and a somewhat far-fetched statement. It had good episodes, and some not as good episodes, just like any other animated series.

For me, the 1990 film and most instances in the 2003 cartoon are on par with that encounter.

I don't know. He did post that article where the hack writers of the movie said this is the first anti-Trump TMNT movie. Of course he literally posts anything TMNT related so it's probably not correlated.
