Man, how sad is it that after all of this time, Affleck doesn't even get to do one Batman movie? Not even one?

All this talk about "looking for a young Batman" smells like FAKE news since none of it comes from anywhere credible. Now, will it be someone younger than Ben Affleck? Of course. But it's not going to be someone in their 20s.
What's really disappointing is, like you said, never getting a Batfleck solo movie. Because Affleck was SO GOOD as Batman and as Bruce Wayne in Batman V Superman. That movie had problems, but Affleck acting as a convincing Batman and Bruce Wayne was never one of them.

But hey, we're getting a Super Pets movie before Green Lantern Corps or Man of Steel 2. Doesn't that warm the cockles of your heart?

Ben was pretty decent as Bats, didn't care too much of the grim-dark emo potrayal in BvS, but a solo film could have him be less of a chump.

Hey, as long as it's Beppo, Streaky, Comet and Krypto, and maybe Proty II. I'll watch that over any MoS or a Snyder capes & tighs movie, the Super-Pets are awesome

Agreed. The only problems with him were of a script nature (you know, "let's make him super murderous"), 0 to do with his performance and look.

You think I even want to see the Green Lantern Corps movie? That's going to have Geoff Johns' taint all over it... assuming WB even likes his script. Man of Steel 2 is the infuriating victim in all of this.

Yeah. It's amazing how much Batfleck changed between BvS and Justice League. Man, that was sad.

Eh, by the time they make a GLC movie, it'll be somebody else writing and directing.

And by this point, I think we can safely write off Cavill along with Affleck. He's not going to sit still waiting for DC to get their $hit together, even though I'm sure he'd love to reprise the role.

Well, let's be specific. How much he changed between BvS and all of the reshoots for Justice League. Very, very little of his original JL performance survived the final product.

Probably. What a great promotion for Geoff.

I'm a little less worried about Cavill although at a certain point... he's simply going to age out of the role. Meanwhile all the while everyone is busy jerking each other off doing "Shazam!" and the Harley-verse movies to be bothered with something so obvious as Man of Steel 2.

Absolutely; but that's opening the whole can of Joss Whedon reshoot worms. I'm sure Affleck was much closer to the BvS portrayal in Snyder's original cut. (Just less murderous and now working towards redemption.)

He's going to age out of the role, or by the time DC/WB wants to make another Superman movie, he'll be unable to do it because he's busy shooting Witcher season 3 and Mission Impossible 10. So DC/WB decides, eh, fvck it, let's get Michael B. Jordan instead.

God knows we need as many Harley Quinn movies as we can get. More, I say! More! Where's my Old Lady Harley movie!?

It's happening in the comics, too, mandated by WB. They even gave her a Green Lantern ring for a while.

I did not. Tried the first one, didn't like it. Wouldn't mind trying the 4th one and going from there, just haven't gotten around to it.

And yeah, from the little bits I've seen (mostly trailers in front of other movies), Cavill looks like he rocked the role.

Yeah, you can't swing a dead Robin without hitting Harley Quinn in the comics these days.

You'd want to start with 3 as that's when the wife stuff starts and that becomes important. But they get really good, yeah, starting with 4.

1 and 2 you can totally skip. And probably should.

Who isn't nowadays. Maybe they should just cancel every movie, tv show, cartoon ever because most everyone has some sort of pervert involved.

The FAKE NEWS thing is definitely comical, but if you're being serious, I think you need to try a different understanding of the film industry.

**** like this gets proven true all the time, with or without truly credible sources being cited. It's just the way things are. Anyone paying attention has essentially known Affleck was out as Batman, over a year ago. Whether we wanted him or not (I did. In fact, I hope he still gets to make his Batman film, somehow).

Yeah, it's true that neither Matt Reeve's, WB, nor Ben has come outright and said it. I totally get why that makes you skeptical. And it's sort of a gross state of "journalism" when we all are forced to take things like tweets and uncited rumors as possible facts, but it's reality.

They're called leaks. Lots of leaks make it through to the public these days, and many of them end up being true. I don't know if it's FAKE NEWS, but while it's not generally reliable, about half of the rumors/leaks I read online end up being true.

Not to harp, but you're saying the same thing now about a younger Batman, that you were saying in regards to Ben being out - "FAKE NEWS". My bet is, once again, the constant leaks will be true and we will get someone noticeably younger than Ben. Intentionally younger.

I genuinely can't tell if you have a rebuttal or are retreating into the joke. It sure is funny though.

There is no reason in the world to doubt Matt Reeves at his word when he said Ben Affleck was his Batman a year ago. There is equally no reason in the world to doubt Ben Affleck when he said he'd absolutely do it if the script was good.

Then the drinking binge and rehab stint happened. Very publicly, right as the script was being finished. We can connect the dots from there, vs. "leaks." And these aren't even leaks. It's movie "news" stories regurgitating movie "news" stories regurgitating "news" stories that are playing a telephone game. You trace them back to the "source" and it is some opinion piece article. Like, it'll be one article from two years ago about a movie news writer saying something like, "One has to wonder if they'll go a lot younger with Batman if Affleck is out," and then immediately becomes, "There is talk that they're going younger with Batman!" and then 5 movie "news" sites run with it. In a month it's gospel. Same thing with the "Affleck is out!" hubbub, if you trace it back.

Again, it's not hard to figure out what happened. Reeves wanted Affleck, Affleck wanted to do it, the binge/rehab thing happened at a critical time and WB (specifically their insurance, I'm betting) wouldn't allow Affleck to be in it. Some back and forth between Reeves and WB, Reeves probably going to bat for Affleck until it became clear there was no wiggle room with WB.

OR Affleck simply didn't like the script. But I think the former is far more likely. I even noted as soon as the binge/rehab thing happened, that was probably going to be pretty damning.

Of course intentionally younger. Ben was 42 when he started filming BvS, he's about to turn 47 and they haven't even managed to put him in a single Batman movie yet. That's wasted time and a lot of aging. Obviously they're not going to go and look for a new 47 year-old at this point. But casting a new late 30s Batman is not the same as, "Reeves is looking for a much younger Batman!" which I 100% believe is bullsh**. We kind of know it, in fact, as soon as the FAKE news about Reeves doing an origin story and/or "Batman: Year One" was completely debunked a little while back.

Except for the fact that it was just proven that Ben Affleck will not be his Batman.

Which there were leaks/"FAKE NEWS" of.

Which turned out to, in fact, be true. As we see today.

You can trust the director, I'm going to rely on a proven track record.

You see, Matt Reeve's isn't having a beer with his best friend, when speaking to the press. He is going to speak carefully and politically. He isn't inclined to give you the 100% truth all the time. There is plenty of reason to doubt him.

We've seen other evidence of him lying to the press about the Batman film, which I don't necessarily blame him for.

I do think Ben may have wanted to play Batman for Matt, back when he was announced. I genuinely believed his enthusiasm when he said he would "play an ape for Matt Reeves". That was a long time ago though, and anyone paying attention knew Ben was out a long time ago.

I don't necessarily think Matt wanted Ben for his Batman. Not only does Ben's version have the stink of the DC extended universe and it's critical/audience failure attached to it, but there would also have to be contract revisions (Ben only had one film left in his contract), Ben's addiction issue, and Ben's age to deal with, as small bumps in the road. The dude probably wanted a fresh start to do his own interpretation of Batman.

Hopefully he will get his own shot at Batman once all this blows over. I'd still love for him to direct and star in his own version someday.

I'm getting off track, but my point is that, despite sometimes coming from shaky sources, and contradicting the creators of the film, much of the news you seem to be labeling as "fake news" is turning out to be true.
