My thoughts exactly. He can't seem to grasp the simple fact that grown-ups (like Peter Laird, for one) often have more pressing concerns - financial or otherwse - than fretting about a fictional character that happens to be female. The man deserves all the praise in the world for the ball he got rolling, but he waived the right to have any meaningful say in the matter of female Turtles long ago. And there's nothing wrong with that. Life goes on, as it must.

That's also not how the meme works. The cat isn't supposed to not care about what the woman is saying, it's supposed to be confused.

From what I’ve seen, the cat is usually trolling/antagonizing the hysterical woman

I am subjugating this meme. Pray I don't subjugate it any further!

Oh hey, a thread about the Jennika mini. And it's several pages long! I wonder if they're discussing the positives and negatives of that backup story. I thought it had some good concepts, but man was it hurt by the framing device of Splinter talking history while at the same time splitting action between a wordless recap of her backstory and a bit about her watching the turtles fight crime.
I'll just click on this thread...

I think it's sad that there isn't hardly any good social justice today. The problem with social justice is that it's been nurtured by corporations interested only in making money, not an actual social difference. |

I thought Tommy was married? I keep being called a boomer when I'm clearly an older millennial. Good to check the age first instead of parroting memes. Quote:

Werid but I think there was a preview image for Jennika #2 in today's TMNT #103. I was thinking... did I miss something?

I actually think TMNT as a franchise has had really great female characters, like Ninjara, Alopex, April (in the majority of her incarnations), Shadow, and so on. I feel that with Venus, she wasn't awful, and not the worst part of The Next Mutation to me. Venus felt awkwardly shoehorned in, despite being established since the pilot for that show. I also felt like she didn't have very good chemistry with the other turtles. In a lot of ways, those are the problems I've had with Jennika as well. Like many others have pointed out here, it felt like the shock of her entire life changing so drastically got glossed over. I also feel like she isn't as well defined as some of the other supporting cast of the comic. I feel like Alopex was the gold star standard of how to write a new mutant character into TMNT. I'm hoping the new mini series remedies some of the complaints I and other readers have had with regards to Jennika. |

I agree.
It just feels like having a female turtle for the sake of having a female turtle. Even if that was not your intention, that's the way it feels to a bit of the audience. And you can't even really tell it's a female anyway..as turtles don't really have curves to begin with. so what was the point of making her one? She was much more interesting as a human. a Foot Soldier assassin learning to see the ways of the light. |
