Hello. It's not too late to get the first issue, as well as join the project.
Please send me a private message here or on Facebook (links in the first post of the thread).

We are still looking at June 2020 for the trade and hardback editions? I am holding out for that.

I'm in the same boat. I'm just waiting to see the finished covers for both the softcover edition and the hardcover edition so I can decide which one I want to buy. I'm still just so impressed that this is a thing!

Hey, guys! Here the current status about Forever War project:

I’m afraid there will be delay, as the progress not so fast as we wanted, and from his second trip to Russia Chris took a pause for a while to deal with other job + comissions. Anyway, now we are back on track, I've got new page just a few days ago!

I hope I'll finish Part 2 in March, as well as Chris will finish pencils for the Part 3 in same time. So, I believe, in July we'll get at least four parts of five, so it's not as bad.

Also, here is another sneak peek. Hope you'll enjoy!

I don't think anyone has asked, but how will Year of the Turtle factor in? Will this story take place before or after that?

I kind of wanted it to be touched on or setup, but it's not, really. I mean, maybe it could happen sometime later on like it always could've beforehand, but there's no "links" to be found in FW.

Just heard that long-time Archie editor Victor Gorelick passed away last week:

https://twitter.com/ArchieComics/sta...43649525723137

Not trying to be rude, but he's probably the main reason why we never got Forever War to print back in the day.

Gorelick thought the theme of the book was getting "too teenaged" which is ironic given the title of the book in my opinion.
One thing I thought was actually a stroke of genius by Murphy was that the story grew up with it's audience. I was in my teens when The Forever War was hyped up in the ads in the back of the book. I was indeed hyped. When the book switched gears to "The Early Years" it was a complete turnoff. The Year of the Turtle was a no go for me too. I knew what I wanted and it wasn't that.

That being said, imagine being the guy responsible for stopping the most anticipated TMNT adventures story of all time. The fanbase wants it so badly that we've basically crowd sourced it. I wonder if he ever felt like he made a mistake there...

I think we TMNTA fans got upset because we saw a potentially great story line get taken away from us so quickly and without resolution. Which is understandable because we really thought The Forever War looked amazing. And I also wasn't thrilled with the eventual "ending" of Year of the Turtle either. I also liken the book to it becoming more mature over the years and growing with its readership. A lot of people say that same thing is why the Harry Potter series worked so well. And I agree. I was ready for The Forever War back in the day.

But I can also totally understand why Archie and Victor Gorelick and co. decided to cancel the comic seeing the way it was going. I'm sure they got tons of letters from parents and talks from the head of Archie about TMNTA getting too out there for a children's comic. Plus there were deaths and religious themes shown in the comics that were definitely unique to see in a comic mostly geared towards kids. I'm actually quite happy the series went as long as it did with all of that interesting commentary going on. So I don't think it was that big of a decision for Archie to move on from TMNTA all things considered.

I really enjoyed Victor Gorelick's run at Archie. It was very impressive. My first comic series that I ever read was TMNTA and the only other comic series that I read "hardcore" was Sonic the Hedgehog and all of its off-shoot titles. Victor Gorelick was also editor of the Sonic the Hedgehog comics starting with issue #4 in July 1993. I still remember him taking over as Editor in Chief after Richard Goldwater retired at Archie. I believe that he held that post all the way through until the end of the series in March of 2017. I just remember reading his name in the comics for so many years. It's really sad to hear of him passing away. I hope his family is doing well at this sad time. Thanks for all of your work in the comics industry. Rest in peace Victor Gorelick.

Word. I felt pretty much the same about all that.

I still remember when Mirage announced they'd finally put Forever War out like 10+ years ago. Next time I went to my comics shop I was like, "Reserve that for me," and the guy's like "Yeah, sure... it's never gonna happen though. Nobody buys the TMNT stuff they're putting out NOW, but they're gonna finish a mini-series they already cancelled and forgot about ten years ago. But yeah, sure, you'll be first in line. Don't hold your breath though."

Better late than never I guess. I'm sad we'll never get the "real" version but at this point anything is better than nothing at all.

It was never about making money, that version of it (at Mirage and not Archie). Laird was happy to print it just for the celebration and to make people happy. As I recall, Murphy was upset that he didn't realize there was an impending sale to Nickelodeon... that if he'd known, he would have "worked faster." It doesn't sound like Murphy completed any issues of the Mirage version of the script and Allan didn't draw anything for it beyond the new ads.

Hello, guys! I didn't tell much about current progress of the TMNT Forever War project for a while, but now it's time! Two days ago Chris finally finished pencils for the Part 3! Sadly, now it's clear what it's impossible to finish the full story by June, as it was planned in the beginning, but we are working, little by little. I still hope there a chance to complete Forever War in 2020.

For those, who can't wait to read the story so far, I'm going to print extremely short amount of PENCILED 'ashcan' editions of Parts 1, 2 and 3! Let me know, if you're interested -- you can send me a private message here on the Drome, on my Facebook page or email me here: [email protected]

Ashcan edition will be printed in the middle of the next week. Fullcolored single issues are coming in a few months, one by one!

Also here are bunch of sneak peeks from Parts 2 and 3!

Hey, guys! Another update about legendary and long awaited TMNT Forever War -- TMNT Adventures #73-75 Ashcan Editions! The books are printed now, even faster than I expected, so I'll start to send out preorders on Wednesday or so.

Here some photos of the printed books below! Enjoy!

A few questions if I may, what issues or arcs should we read ahead of Forever War? I see Sarnath and Katmandu I know Scumbug and Wyrm were mentioned. It is known to have connections to the aruably favorite arc of the run Th Future Shark Trilogy. Just don't tell me to start from #1 of the mini-series lead in to #72. It looks very packed of characters.

Glad we can finally say 77 issues! I am buying, but I am waiting the hardcover after all five are completed. Should I go ahead and buy or is it okay to wait until the completion of #77?

Also, we had to wait from 1996 to 2009 and then after a second tease until 2020 so what is a few months. The conclusion arc lived up to its name,
