They watch movies every day and everything comes through fine.

They both said that it's only been movies that were released over the past year or two where it's a problem but it's a consistent one. Anything up to 2019, no issue whatsoever.

I thought the way they shot and framed it looked ridiculous, I thought his puffy parachute suit looked silly, I hated that goofy grin on his face while he was zipping around, and the whole bit where he whips out a parachute, gets it caught on a bridge or whatever and crash-lands, then just sort of awkwardly gets up, dusts himself off and meanders away... Jesus Christ. It felt exactly like something out of a Robot Chicken skit and I'm quite sure it wasn't intended to be taken that way.

I was in the next room So I couldn't really hear so well, but they also kept having to rewind it and turn the volume up every time anyone was talking, and they were sitting six feet from the TV. "Why is everyone mumbling?"

I don't know man. The more I see, the more I go from "I'll maybe see it one day" to "I'm not sure I ever need to watch this at all."

I'm sure I'll be accused of being biased or whatever, I just sincerely can't stand anything I've seen at all. And I doubt seeing the entire thing will change that. I swear on my father's ashes this has nothing to do with liking other directors' Batman movies better. It's just that sincerely, removed from everything else, I really just can't stand anything I've seen from this.

Just not for me. There was a time I honestly figured I'd make time to see it eventually just for the hell of it. But now I don't think I should. Good for people who like it. Between the trailers, the deleted Joker scene, and the Flying Squirrel bit, I think I've seen enough.
The reason I'd like for you to watch it is because I'm personally looking forward to your full thoughts on it despite your impressions. For me, it's fine but it didn't do much different from what I've been exposed to with Batman.

I listened to this with Atmos and it sounded really good, but that’s just me. I especially love the way rain sounds in this movie. Hearing the weight of Batman steps, while the drizzling and splashing of rain surrounds you is pretty atmospheric.

The car scene is another highlight in terms of sound design. Very chunky.

And then I found the musical score to be interwoven incredibly well. I’ve already said it but this movie made me realize Giacchino is a great composer. His MCU work is a drag in comparison.
I actually found the music to be expertly interwoven between dialogue and action. It felt like they had a lot of time to craft it.

Just off the top of my head: Bruce’s dialogue in the opening scene, interwoven with the music, is very cool - The music begins to swell, as Bruce narrarates “…they think I’m hiding in the shadows”, then the music cuts…Bruce: “…but I am the shadows”, music kicks back in, as the camera descends from Gotham Skyline to the subway.
Just really finely tuned imo.

Also Adam West is not goofy as the video states, he is interacting with surreal situations much like Oliver Douglas in Green Acres, a contemporary series.

Understandable, and I'm flattered.

Thing is, I've become VERY gun-shy in recent years when it comes to trusting my gut about movies. I'm all for keeping an open mind, but more and more often if my gut says "This movie is gonna make you angry", it ends up being true, and I just don't feel like being in a bad mood. And given how more recently I prefer spending time on video games than movies, every time I watch a movie I don't love it just feels like a huge waste of my time.

Over the last few years I let people talk me into watching several movies I knew I wouldn't care for, and usually it goes even worse than I'd feared. I'm very in touch with myself and my personal "triggers"; I can't expect anyone else to share them, but I know what my tastes are.

I don't mean this in an overly harsh way, but I simply can't see myself ever being bored enough to sit through this, considering how strongly I've disliked everything I've seen of it. Not when I could watch "Young Guns" for the 800th time and have a much better day in general. As I get older, I have less and less time for things I don't absolutely love. And I'd rather spend my time revisiting Those Things than "taking a chance" on something that's already giving me red flags.

I'm flattered that anyone would be interested in my in-depth opinions, but since I'm not being paid to watch and review it then it would only feel like it was taking time away from something that would be a lot more fulfilling.

Never say Never. But it probably won't be this year.

I actually thought I'd hate The Batman going into it, but I ended up enjoying it, to my own surprise. Believe me, I am...quite picky when it comes to movies, and especially Batman movies.

Even if it was bad - and I don't think it likely is "bad", just not at all what I want or care about watching - so long as "Batman and Robin" exists I doubt we'll ever see a WORSE Batman movie than that one. Someone would have to make "Let's do a worse movie than that" as a mission statement.

Regardless, a movie doesn't have to be bad for it to not be on my radar for whatever reason. I only saw "Goodfellas" finally, like, a year and a half ago, and yes, I'm ashamed. It was great, though. Just not a big "gangster movie" guy so it never came up.

What surprised you about it? Or played against your expectations?

I wonder if Ridder, Catwoman or Penguin will be back in the sequel. Usually movies kill off their villains or have all new ones in the next one, but they can technically bring all 3 of them back. This is the first time we can have a superhero movie where all the recurring villains return.

I enjoyed it. Pattison wasn't bad as batman. Kravitz was great as Selina and I loved Farrell as Penguin. Finally a Penguin kind of like the comics. Riddler was ok a big step off from how he is the comics but kind of interesting. Also Turtturo was great as Falcone.

I am down for the sequel.

Alfred was wasted in this movie in my opinion. Also the new Batman Theme is really good in this.

I didn't watch the whole thing. Am I correct in assuming that the "twist" is that Matt Reeves didn't "really" write his Batman movie, and it was in fact based on another, older script someone dug out of a drawer and told him to work from?

That shouldn't be "news". I've gone on and on about how that's exactly how these kinds of movies are made, more often than not.

BvS says "Written By Chris Terrio." Yet by sheer coincidence, it manages to have elements from at least three or four other Batman, Superman, AND "Batman vs. Superman" scripts from as far back as 1996. What a bizarre "coincidence" that is, that a movie made in 2015 would be a patchwork of other movies that failed to launch but WB nonetheless paid millions of dollars for the scripts to.

That's how it works. Nothing gets thrown away, because it's been paid for; they stick it in a drawer and then when the next project comes along they dig it out and say "How much of this can we keep? A lot or a little?" But very little is ever "fresh". Even "Batman Begins" owes a lot of what it is to the fact that WB had already committed to having Scarecrow be the villain of the next Batman movie, waaaay back when "the next Batman movie" was going to be Schumacher's third try.

So if it's true and Matt Reeves didn't really write the "Matt Reeves Batman Movie"... All I can do is shrug. That's hardly a scandal. It's only scandalous to people who don't know how big-budget movies work.

Skimmed over it and he's also saying half of it is similar to other Batman stories in the comics/cartoons, over the years. I mean that would be common sense. There's over 80 years of Batman stories now in different mediums and when you use the same villains over and over like Catwoman and The Riddler of course they're going to be similar to previous stories using them. There's only so many ways you can use the same villains over 80 years.
