How would you have Jennika leave the party?
Whether it be she get's killed off, or just get's de-mutated then leaves and never returns
How would you do it? Last edited by Monty Mole; 05-05-2023 at 01:04 AM. |

De-mutate and then drive off into the sunset, never to return
Or Thanosed away. Either way is fine

Demutated along with the rest of Mutant Town's people who wish to go back to their normal lives. If she remains in touch as a human ally that's fine.

De-mutated with her lesbian pig girlfriend Sheena back into normal humans again. The two lesbos can then drive off together into the sunset, wanting to take a break from the craziness of the Turtles lives. I don't think she needs to be killed off, as that would be kinda pointless.
Also with Venus now in IDW as well, I don't really see the need for two female Turtles. Venus will be part of a major arc going forward so Jennika feels redundant. |

Seriously, just have her be like "I'm done, I'm leaving to have a life with my lesbian pig girlfriend." And the turtles are all like "Cool, cool. Well, see you later!" And then she's gone forever, having made like a sitcom character in season 6 out of 8.
Or she could just die in battle and then the writers forget to mention her, so no one really mourns her. But that's probably asking for too much. |

Remember when Karai almost killed Jennika as a human?
![]() Man, this would have been better than what we got. Jennika as a human was also really boring too for that matter, even prior to her becoming a turtle. |

Ideally, we'd want to bring things back to the isolationist "last of their kind" vibe (as impossible as that might seem in the modern IDW world). So we'd need a big heroic and tragic, heartstrings-pulling sacrifice, to where even the thought of a fifth Turtle years later would immediately evoke sadness and the memory of her sacrifice.

I still can't get over that this is a page in an officially published TMNT comic:
![]() If you told me 10 years ago we'd have a TMNT comic with a lesbian turtle kissing a lesbian pig mutant, it'd sound like something the furries on deviantart would come up with. Like published fanfiction. |

Isn't that kinda what it was though? lol
edit: I mean... no offense to the writer and no judgment of the talent, but the "what I've wanted to see in it" angle is kind of apparent. Esp if it's via a full in your face fame like that. Ladies, are we redundant if more than one of us exists in a space? |

A female turtle in general is pretty much a shark jumping moment, and two or more is overboard.

Nothing wrong with having female allies in the TMNT franchise, as long as they actually contribute to the team instead of just being there for representation and are well-written characters. Alopex was the prime example of a good female ally that could be liked by both guys and gals. Jennika started out as a potentially good character, then she became a spotlight-stealing Mary Sue who enjoyed pork in more ways than one. No thanks, I don’t want that kind of representation. And Franken-Venus? Yikes. At least the original one was easy on the eyes (even though her bongos were a bit distracting).
I personally don’t care whether or not the turtles add a new member with ovaries to their group. I love the original mean green team. They don’t have to change, but for reason the new producers and creators think so.

Jennika being redundent is not specifically because she's a lady, but because the purpose she serves in the narrative was already held by other characters. Every quality she has is already embodied in another character. Besides Venus, Alopex basically filled the role that Jennika stole: a former foot clan member who gradually became a hero as she got more involved with the turtles.
Difference is, Jennika is boring as hell, and Alopex wasn't. I still hold that the most interesting thing to happen to Jennika in the entire comic was being turned into a turtle, and even that was something passively done that she didn't have a real hand in. |

Well, I wouldn't do it in the "Poochie" way if anyone thought that from the art I found for the April fools joke. It would be amusing but the way the Simpsons itself did it was just meant to be a parody of how unpopular characters can be removed abruptly, it's not really meant to be accurate to how anyone would write a character out because how bizarre it is.
Depending on what I would be allowed to do if I were to write her out, here are the ways I imagine in the order of what I would most want to do, but might not be allowed to, to likely to be allowed to but might not be that satisfying:

What is also strange is Jennika being a lesbian also came out of nowhere:
1. In her backstory issues Jennika had a boyfriend (and he wound up becoming a mutant later as he appeared in her mini-series). 2. Jennika had a crush on Casey for awhile from issues 70-95 or so, and apparently they dated off-screen? It was all kind of rushed from what I remember so we never really saw Casey and Jennika as a couple in the comic but it was implied. |

Plus, they needed to act quick so they could get that lesbian kiss in the comic in time for pride month. That issue was a June issue, afterall. |

They call this 'gay-washing.' It's done for maximum virtue signalling so they can show off to others how 'open' and 'accepting' they are, even as these redone characters tend to end up as some of the most insufferable and poorly written characters. It's a trope at this point, it's to show off and grandstand.

Welcome to Gen Z being the new generation to appeal to... There is a lot of BS that appears to be very "trendy" with them. Society needed to stop being a jerk and let go of harmful stigmas, and instead these kids ran with it and turned various things into a trendy fad for likes and attention and demand things conform to their tastes. What I've seen of them online when it comes to Rise makes me grateful the show ended early.
Things like Jennika and her girlfriend... I'm fine with inclusiveness and letting things happen in a way that is organic and normal in the background of the real story in progress. I'm not fine with making it into a spectacle and pushing it to the forefront. |

Never mention her existence, everyone just forgets her and carry on with the plot.
Dragon Ball Z author totally forgot about Launch so she was missing til the end, so something like that. |

One way this contrasted to me in big ways was when the It Chapter 2 movie came out a few years ago. The gay couple in the beginning was written in the 80s. They were human, sympathetic, people that were kind and gave a little girl a toy she wanted at the fair. The character of Ritchie (one of the Losers) who was straight in the book and original movies was rewritten to be closeted gay for the modern movie. It was like night and day. The original gay people had been written as regular people who happened to be gay. Ritchie was written specifically to be gay first, and have the story emphasize to the audience he was gay. When they do this they try to make the kissing and girlfriend/boyfriend stuff front and center, whereas older stuff it was just regular people, just like in real life. Straight characters might casually mention they had a gay friend, and that was that. No parades, not flags, no big deal. |
