TMNT Entity update (FW episode order)

Babe wake up. New TMNT Entity post just dropped.

Probably not thread worthy, but any activity from Mark is exciting to see.

He re-did his order for the European Vacation episodes as follows:

Tower of Power (France)
Rust Never Sleeps (France)
Venice on the Halfshell (Italy)
Artless (Italy, Vatican City)
The Lost Queen of Atlantis (Greece)
A Real Snow Job (Austria)
April Gets in Dutch (Netherlands)
Northern Lights Out (Norway)
Shredder's New Sword (England)
Elementary, my Dear Turtle (England)
The Irish Jig is Up (Ireland)
Ring of Fire (Portugal)
Turtles on the Orient Express (France, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Turkey)

Can’t say I see anything I disagree with. I like Orient Express being the finale. I’ll give this order a spin whenever I do another marathon. Whenever that may be.

I would place the Vacation in Europe between July 1990 and early spring 1991. A Real Snow Job could've been a Christmas episode by just adding some Advent lights in the skiing resorts.

I'm delighted that after all these years, Spengs still thinks about the logical episode order of the vintage cartoon.

"The inexplicable urge to watch the 1987 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles cartoon struck me..."

It's interesting that a lot of Season 4 can be decided whether the lava is hardened around the Technodrome, or on the other hand the Technodrome just sitting on the Dimension X planetoid but without the lava around it. I also love how he picks up on all the smaller references in the season, like Don's dimension x tuner/scanner and references to older episodes that were just throwaway lines people wouldn't pick up on. I also do think Don searching for alien Turtle life in outer space was a direct reference to the upcoming Planet of the Turtles and Turtleoids episodes.

The irony when you realize most of the original cartoons run was just Shredder and Krang desperately trying to free the Technodrome from wherever it was stuck.

Even Season 3 has the Technodrome moving around in Earth's underground, especially in The Fifth Turtle.

He's doing God's work. I really love all these little continuity details like 95% of the fandom will never notice in the episodes, especially since a lot of them are just like one line of dialogue or Don using an invention he used in a previous ep. The order looks pretty fine to me.

Really puts into perspective the main writers really were trying to keep some form of continuity with the show, but given the show had so many revolving writers and all these scripts were likely being written at the same time without any knowledge what the other writers were doing, it's why things get mixed up. Also these eps likely airing on TV out of order and in official episode guides out of order all these years didn't help either.

One day we should get a remastered DVD/blu-ray collection using this episode order, I know it'll probably never happen, but given the 4k movie set we just got and IDW attempting to put Archie TMNT in proper order with all the specials, never say never.

This would be a dream come true. I would literally never want anything else from Paramount if their just gave me a new TMNT ‘87 set with actual effort put into it, episodes in proper order on new discs instead of just 20 year old Lionsgate dvd reprints.

They also never included all the Turtle Tips shorts on the old DVDs, those definitely need to be included. I do hope one day Paramount will give us new remastered sets someday. As you said, they're literally just re-using the old Lionsgate DVDs even in their re-released sets...and some of these DVDs literally have VHS quality to the episode rips.

I hope Mark exports all of his TMNT articles from Adventures in Poor Taste over to TMNT Entity. Most of the links are now dead.

Oh wow, I was not aware of this, and you had even already pointed it out to me ToTheNine in this other thread.
These threads also deal with tiny details on episode order, i'll link them here if anyone is interested. When I have time and my 'tism ticks I'll make a thorough investigation and make sure the TMNT Entity list is not making any mistakes:

There’s also this one: https://forums.thetechnodrome.com/sh...ad.php?t=36558

I’d like to compare her list to Spengler’s once I have time.

Man 80's and early 90's television was so weird. The episodes were basically written where you can watch them in almost any order, because when the eps aired on TV they would broadcast them out of order and air them on reruns in afternoon blocks.

Even B:TAS suffers from episodic storytelling (aside from when he meets each villain for the first time), because the show can be watched out of order. Like does it matter if you watch Joker episode 4 before Joker episode 6? Not really. I know when I watched B:TAS on TV back in the day I had no idea what the proper episode order was and just watched whatever episode they had on.

I really think anime made continuity popular in the west. Once Japanese anime showed how serialized animation could be a lot of western animation started to do the same.

One thing I noticed about Spengler’s season 2 order is he didn’t move “Case of the Killer Pizzas” up before the Sarnath saga. I always thought it was weird coming after Baxter’s betrayal. Does it work as episode 2?

“Green with Jealousy” takes place in June, so it should be before “Take Me To Your Leader”.
