All of the animated series and films were also left out for whatever stupid reason. I guess they were only counting comics? But that’s such a boneheaded decision.
What was the point of this story again?

An interesting thing is they sort of implied Image was a spinoff of Mirage too, which makes no sense as IDW actually published the official Image conclusion of 3 more issues to connect it to Vol. 4. Granted maybe I'm looking into things too much, but Renet talked about it like it was something else.

Also interesting enough, none of the animated comics were mentioned. Like the 2012 Nick animated comics, the Rise or Mutant Mayhem/Tales comics, or even Saturday Morning Adventures. I guess that means IDW considers them all in-continuity with their respective cartoons, and not different series like Archie. The 2012 comics were written to stick to continuity, so were Rise and Tales comics from what I remember.

What was the point of this story again?

If I had to guess, the movies/TV shows are probably a whole different licensing agreement, maybe even individual ones for each incarnation. Probably easier (and cheaper) to only focus on comics.

I don’t think that’s true. Paramount owns the characters, regardless of version. The only weird rights issues are with stuff like music and certain actors’ likenesses.

They only focused on the comics because this was a “celebration” of “300 issues”. Which is fine, it just doesn’t work as a follow up to Battle Nexus since that included everything. But whatever, it was harmless and the spreads were nice to look at.

Do we know if this sold better than the last few issues due to the #300 hype? I'm sure tons of casuals plus the alternate covers inflated sales.

I mean I know a lot of that is just comic book shops ordering extras, but hell, if it keeps IDW TMNT (or rather Nick) happy with the license they continue to renew it for a few more years, so be it. We still need them to finish the Archie, Volume 4, and Tales V. 2 collections most of all, so hopefully get up to 2030.

Also hoping the IDW comic itself has some good stuff coming, but with the constantly changing head writers every 12 issues now it's hard to tell. Like I'd be glad for the comic itself continuing if we knew we had some great story material headed our way too, so here's hoping.

I highly doubt it. They’re treating it like a Marvel/DC book now. They’re just going to keep signing “hot” creators to 1 year contracts until the wheels fall off. If Paramount or whoever is able to give them some notice before pulling the plug, I’m sure they’d put some kind of sendoff together as the final issue. But I don’t think they’re actually leading the story to any kind of meaningful conclusion at present.

And after #100, Armageddon Game, and #150… what else is there to say, really?
