Don't fuel Russia's war machine, sanction them extensively for their genocidal war crimes and provide humanitarian and military aid to Ukraine.

Ukraine had been making progress against Russia on the battlefield. America funding Russia was just a bad idea all around, the work of a president who only cares about money, not morality.

That's no one's bright idea. Your favourite president's bright idea is to urge Europe to lift sanctions on Russia so that gas prices go down and he can avert the not unlikely crushing mid-term defeat next week. That's why he's - once again - trying to throw Ukraine under the bus.

I'm not sure exerting pressure on, yes, Ukraine is the worst thing to do. Give them an idea that maybe, just maybe this can't continue forever (particularly on our dime) and they aren't going to "Win" this war and that Zelensky needs to start thinking about a real compromise and, as such, a way out. It sucks and its shi**y but what's the alternative? If we're not willing to entertain joining the battle against Russia -- and by no means should we, or anyone else -- then we're just throwing around platitudes.

Unless you honestly think:

* With enough time, and basic military aid, Ukraine WILL defeat all of Russia. Like maybe in 2060, if we just keep sending the hardware and money.

* If we give Ukraine SUPER military aid, above and beyond, that Russia isn't prepared to drag whoever does that into their own crosshairs. And where that quagmire goes.

* Putin will just give up and say, "OK, good game. Well fought. We're done now."

And all 3 of those are insane. Whatever ends this more sooner than later will save potentially thousands or hundreds of thousands of lives or more in the long run.

I'm sorry, but the left (and I apologize if I'm lumping you into what is BASICALLY the left of my country, but I don't think you disagree from them terribly much?) crying about higher oil prices is pretty laughable when one of the first things Biden did was shut down the Keystone Pipeline, and make it clear that drilling was done and going away. And the way oil prices work is based on investments... as in, "Do we think this is going to pay off long-term here or there?" And Biden did everything he did to hammer that and give us the worst prices ever... and nobody said a damn word.

Which is a long way of saying, get a new Biden in there and he'll fix prices? He or she won't. It'll just be far worse.
