Is it just me or is Neca relatively quiet lately?

It looks like the "Star Warsing" of the Fred Wolf line via NECA is dead at this point....
Maybe? |

Hopefully the Mattel thing doesn’t kill this line. But if it does, I’m going to be pissed that certain characters didn’t make it, but they wasted resources on Tiger Claw and a Foot ninja variant. At a bare minimum I really hope Karai makes the cut. April is important too and deserves a figure, I’m just not interested in her unless it’s one of her season 4 fits. Which seems very unlikely. |

Also wouldn’t be shocked if NECA plays the “we’ll wait” game again if the license gets taken away. It took 8 years to finally get the Foot Clan figures back in 2016. |

Anyway, I’ll definitely be preordering Splinter immediately tomorrow. I’ll probably get Metalhead. I’m leaning towards not getting Casey unless they offer some kind of incentive for getting all 3. |

Slash is definitely gonna be at a higher price point, judging by this slide from when he was originally announced:
![]() I just hope that there's not a huge wait for his pre-orders. He's the only one that I absolutely NEED from this line and I don't want any potential Mattel sub-licensing issues getting in the way of him releasing if he's delayed for months. |

It looks like free shipping if you get all 3 2012 figures plus an additional TMNT figure.

I’ll just be waiting for Target. Free shipping and essentially 10 percent off with my red card. |

If the writing didn't seem enough on the wall already due to NECA losing the license at the end of the year combined with him not being featured at SDCC at all, Randy has officially confirmed that 2012 Slash has been canned. (They couldn't get him to work at his size and cost.) This would also explain why he didn't go up for pre-order with his wave mates. Needless to say, I'm BEYOND annoyed by this. He was the only 2012 figure that I absolutely NEEDED and OF COURSE he's the only one that doesn't make it out. They can do "What If" robot versions of Tokka and Rahzar no problem, but they can't make a character that WAY more people would actually recognize and buy work, budget-wise? Bleh. I guess my dreams of finally owning a scale-and-detail-accurate figure of the best animated version of Slash shall go unfulfilled. Oh well. It's less money to spend, I suppose. |

I will forever be bitter about all the nonsense they released while never giving us Chris Allen Turtles, specifically the future Turtles.

===== Also, I've been seeing Tigerclaw showing up at local Targets out of the blue... but all of them have chipped claws on the feet! Is this a known issue or is it just a weird coincidence that I keep seeing them this way? |

This very valid observation will be met by some strange poster who calls you a "child" for saying it and demands that "we should be happy with what we get". |

I don't know NECA did give us some things I'd never think we'd ever get, so I can't be mad at them to be honest. The deepcuts they gave us makes me forgive them. With that said... Yes I do feel bitter at some of the WTF choices they made, especially ones that involoved original sculpts that couldn't be reused, but whatever.
I feel bitter we never got The Next Mutation turtles, at the very least Venus. Red Sky Turtles, Lord Dregg. I don't know I feel those will never happen now. I also would've preferred 2007 movie turtles over this 2012 line, Revoltech had at least already given us some pretty good turtles which IMO are still better than what NECA released. |

Anyone notice that Stan Sakai is making non-TMNT turtles in his The First Ronin?
And, there were some talks about NECA and Sakai having many more figures together in the pipeline, if i remember correctly... Is this the loophole? Plus, I suppose NECA has access to the entire Usagi universe that is not FW, which is a win, albeit a niche win. |

Sakai is writing The First Ronin, but it’s still a TMNT story owned by Skydance. If anything I think it’s more likely to get figures from The Last Yojimbo.
Either way, I’m glad to hear he’s still working with NECA. I will absolutely buy a Jei figure. |

Just to clear up, at NYCC Stan showed off a rendering of a Last Yojimbo figure that his Dogu studio/company is making themselves (utilizing freelance sculptor who worked with NECA and Mondo and others who have experience in the action figure business) but this is not partnered with NECA. You can easily find the render of the figure online.
I also directly spoke to NECA at NYCC about continuing with a full Stan Sakai Usagi line since the Turtle line is done for now and they said they would like to because they have good relations and history with Stan, but it’s not something in development right now. I have a feeling it’s because Stan’s Dogu crew (mostly his family - his Son in law I believe is the Dogu business manager) wants to do a line in house. It sounded like the B&W set was the final Usagi item from NECA for now. Hope that helps. |
