Folks like Micheal Moore were saying that about George W. Bush in the 2000’s and that Hillary was running the White House while Bill was chasing secretaries before that. What’s old is new again. People tend to believe what they want to believe.

They are going to have answers for everything. I've made points like this about these conversations for years now.

Haters will just whatever fits the scope of the moment to deploy their derangement.

For some reason old George W. Bush clips came across my youtube so I clicked on them, and man it's so different the way George W. Bush talked in such a calm understanding voice. Even though he didn't always say the right things, it really just shows how much politics has fallen when now it just feels like "trash talk TV" whenever Trump speaks.

You know it's something when George W. Bush's old speeches/interviews, etc make him sound a million times more intelligent.

So Bolsonaro kind of concedes after the election, Trump of course talks of fraud (business as usual), then Bolsonaro just runs off to the US (even though he is not allowed to leave Brazil because of ongoing investigations) where he‘ll be granted visas. Nice!

I'm loving the defeat of these Right-Wing crooks across the world.

Viktor Orban defeated in Hungary.

Lula's victory in Brazil over a Trump ally.

Likely Democrat sweep in the US Midterms.

And hopefully a Left Wing coalition in my own country in less than 2 weeks time.

Shredder and Krang combined had the biggest arsenal of any villains in all of the cartoons.

Don’t forget ousting the right wing leader in Serbia. And now protests in Venezuela about selling off the oil to the US.

Agreed on Hungary and Brazil but what are Democrats going to do? Right now, it seems like they are a party without any real direction or ideas. And Trump‘s governing during his second term has been lots of executive orders. There‘s not going to be any fundamental change.

What's up with all the Right-Wing facist pigs crying about stolen elections nowadays?

Obviously, we remember what Trump said in 2020. Lets see what is said around midterms time, let alone 2028.

Trump ally Bolsonaro talked about a stolen election in Brazil, and Trump also repeated these claims.

And now we have Netanyahu in Israel claiming that their own election is stolen because of foreign inteference favouring the Arab parties.

This is the clown world as IMJ describes it.

Sometime around when issue 19 of this comic book series comes out, we - the voters of the USA - will have chosen a new president.
I'm fervently hoping it is not another (bad) joke of an election, like the last time.
Typically during elections, and seemingly even more commonly
these days,
"attack ads" will claim that one candidate or the other
has changed his or her position on a particular issue, or -- to use one of the more gratingly annoying catch phrases in current usage -- they have "flip-flopped". (Two other examples of this kind of ludicrous phrase are "tax-and-spend liberal" [Well, what are you SUPPOSED to do with taxes once you have collected them? I thought SPENDING that money on appropriate programs was the whole point of gathering the funds to begin with!] and "homicide bomber" [this was. apparently, a change pushed by the Bush folks which was supposed to supplant the perfectly useful and descriptive "suicide bomber",
and make these killers seem even worse, even more evil "evildo-ers"... but ended up just sounding silly - I mean, does ANYONE with two brain cells to rub together think that homicide is not the intent of your typical suicide bomber? - and also for no particularly good reason wiped out an important part of the meaning of the original, which is that these people intent on homicide through bombing are so committed to the goal that they are willing to kill themselves too.)
Anyway, back to "fip-flopping". The intention of the use of this phrase seems to be to tar a politician as a cynical weasel who supports a certain point of view at a certain time solely for personal and/or political gain. While I am absolutely sure that there have been and will continue to be individuals who very closely fit that descrip-tion, it really bothers me that it is also used to slam people who have just changed their minds because - through experience, education, and/or inspiration they have come to see that the position they once held is no longer as valid as they once thought it was.
There seems to be a weird and somewhat scary thought process going on with those who use the "flip-flop" phrase, something which seems to say that once you form an opinion or point of view, you'd better STICK to that opinion or point of view, no matter what - or you're a "flip-flopping" evildoer. I'm sure you've seen it in commentary or debates between politicians, where it will be brought up that this or that politician once held a view or voted on something in one way ten, twenty, thirty or more years ago... and NOW they are thinking or voting differently. And that's supposed to indicate that this politican is some kind of flighty, frivolous, inconsistent fool.
This boggles my mind. It is - like so much else in the supposedly
"grown-up" world of politics - so incredibly infantile, the level of discourse and commentary so puerile. I don't know about you, but I want MY leaders to be able to learn, grow, and realize when they have made mistakes and when they haven't... and then, if necessary, change their positions and behaviors accordingly.
While we're on the subject, I'd appreciate it if anyone could point me towards a reasonable explanation for why we should continue to keep the creaky old institution of the electoral college when electing a President. After the last election, I did some research on it, to try to understand it better... and I came away with the sense that there really is no good and compelling reason to continue with it, other than to just keep doing the same thing because we've always done the same thing and we should keep doing the same thing (otherwise known as "tradition"). I guess maybe we don't want to be seen as
"flip-flopping", which, you know, is BAD. Also, if anyone could give me an example of any other important elections in the USA which are handled in this way (i.e. NOT determined through a popular vote), I'd
One other thing - during my research into the electoral college, I could never find a good logical resolution of what I consider to be the central paradox of the
"anti-popular vote" argument, which is
this: If the popular vote is good enough to determine -- on a state-by-state basis -- which candidate gets the electoral college votes from each state, why is it then NOT good enough to directly determine the outcome of the election? That seems to make ZERO sense to me.
I wonder what he thinks now?

I'm not sure Peter hasn't been posting around here in some form, during some time. Probably not nowadays.

I remember that rant. Those are not thoughts I disagree with but they are phrased in a way that makes it hard to take him seriously. Kind of like what your average internet crybaby would post.

If you didn't know those rants were from Peter they would just sound like any random angry person on forums, twitter, reddit, youtube, etc. He really sounds no different than anyone else.

I mean, he helped create the turtles, but like... he's still just some guy.
