OK here is what happened with shredder and krang around the time of red sky.
The turtles defeated them in on of the last regular series episodes before the sky turned red.
The Technodrome got sent to dimension X and was stuck there or destroyed I cannot remember. Was it a black hole it got stuck in anyone correct me if I am wrong but it's been years so excuse me if everything isn't exactly correct!
It all started out with krang and shredder and bebop and rocksteady running around town trying to find a place to hide out they had a red pickup truck I think they got away in the last normal episode we saw them in.
Well, anyway Berzerko the guy who designed the Technodrome comes along into the picture captures krang. Shredder thinks the tmnt have krang so he holds chanel 6 randsome. the guys finally rescue krang from Berzerko which was one of my favorite parts. The tmnt finally make it to the chanel 6 building but a second late they say shredder is bluffinging but "he never bluffs" and blows it up. What the guys don't know is splinter snuck in and rescued everyone. So they flip out and beat the crap out of shredder, bebop, and rocksteady and then throw krang at them. then bazerko comes along and they gotta kick his butt when they finish with him krang, shredder and the goons are gone.
So krang, shredder, and the goons take over the hall of science.
Inside the Hall of Science, Shredder is fearful that the Turtles will eventually find a way into the building and must be stopped now, at any cost. Krang suggests that Shredder not worry with the equipment that Berserko left behind, as he believes that he will be able to restore communications with the Technodrome (which is still in Dimension X) and have it at their disposal once more.
However, Shredder is not persuaded and decides to seek out an old friend in the sewers. The Rat King! ...yadda yadda they stop rat king...rats mutated made giant yadda yadda..we get to see Shredder's retro-mutagen ray used on the rats which hasn't been around in years also.
Burn tompsons & Vernon still around during all these episodes blaming the tmnt for destruction of chanel six.
So is General tragg who hasn't been seen in years.

Well, it takes about 4 or 5 episodes but wow magically Shredder, krang, bebop & rocksteady are back! As well as Casey Jones who we haven't seen in years.
So in the episode Turtle Trek Shredder bebop and rocksteady steal a device krang needs to open a portal to dimension x and they get away and it ticks off the tmnt. So shredder, krang, & the goons end up going to dimension x.
They get the Technodrome back.
But the turtles come to the hall of science to find out that no one is there but a portal is open and an aliens leads them to believe krang trapped him and mutated him..so he leads them to a wild goose chase and then finally leads them to shredder in the Technodrome. Shredder turns the alien back to normal. The alien says he sorry and as shredder is about to turn the tmnt back to normal turtles...the alien knocks shredder out of the way and they defeat him and destroy the Technodrome engines and go back to earth leaving the Technodrome out of commission and krang, shredder, bebop and rocksteady stuck in dimension x.
And this is the last we see of them until the episode The Power Of Three.
The Dreggnaut(lord dreggs ship) is orbiting the Earth. Onboard Mung(dreggs slug alien side kick) tells Dregg that he met Shredder and Krang. Shredder had told Mung that he had destroyed the Turtles with a miniaturization ray, but he was obviously lying (yea like way lying that happened what like in the second season lol).
Dregg and Mung start up the Vortex Transporter and cause a blackout all over the City. They successfully transport Shredder and Krang!
Dregg and Mung think they can get Shredder and Krang to help them destroy the Turtles and make Dregg ruler of the Earth. Shredder and Krang have similar plans except it will be them that rule the planet and not Dregg.
The power failure causes chaos all over the city. The Turtles and Splinter get caught up in a flood.
April is stuck in traffic when Shredder and Krang get into her car! The reporter manages to get in touch with the Turtles with her Turtle Com. The TMNT grab a cab to track her down. When they fond April's car, the Green Team sees that she is also being pursued by Mung's shuttle craft.
Mung transfers the Turtles' coordinates to Dregg and they all wind up transported to a power plant hideout.
A big battle ensues. Shredder lets Dregg think he is working with him again, but as soon as Shredder gets a chance he turns the tables on Dregg. Then Dregg sets his micro-bots on Shredder and gains control once again.
Dregg reveals his plans: he will drain the mutagen from the Turtles and the mental energy from Shredder and Krang - making himself the most powerful and intelligent mutant in all the universe.(which makes him one of the most bad ass tmnt villains in my opinion!)
Shredder cuts through the wires attached to his head with the blades on his sleeve and escapes. Dregg drains the power from the Turtles and Krang then realizes that Shredder is not there.
Dregg now possesses all of their mental and physical strength. He can even see their memories and possess their ninja skills. All of them! Dregg and Mung exit and Shredder climbs out from under one of the surgical tables, where he has been hiding. He shuts off the forcefield around Krang and they leave.
(awww how loving!)
Dregg is insane with power. He is shaping a plan on conquering the universe with his new powers, but Shredder has taken the chip that will allow him to complete his plans.
Carter reaches the Turtles and April and attempts to free them, but Dregg shows up and Carter has to get away. Carter goes back to the Turtles' Lair.
April dupes one of the bat-men into thinking that she can't breathe in the cell. She knocks him out and shuts off the forcefield from the Turtles. They are all in a very weak condition.
Back at the Lair, Carter gets in touch with Landor and Merrik, asking them to help him go back in time and bring the Turtles of the past back to the present. Merrik warns Carter that if they do not return the past Turtles to their normal time within 24 hours, both the past and present Turtles will cease to exist.
In the meantime, Shredder gives Krang a life-energy transfusion and he gets his strength again.
Four confused "past" Turtles are escorted by Carter, Landor and Merrik to find the "present" Turtles. Before encountering the "present" Turtles, Carter is discovered by Dregg. Carter mutates! Dregg escapes! Carter demutates!
The four "past" Turtles carry their twins into the Transporter room. Carter moves to the control console but before they can all be transported they are stopped!

Carter, April and the "past" Turtles are being attacked by monsters towering fifty feet over them. The heroes finally escape and get the weakened "present" Turtles back to the lair. April heads off to warn the authorities of Dregg's attack plan.
Dregg and his crew plan an invasion of Attack Monsters to take over Earth and make it his new home base, but first he has to get his transporter chip back from Shredder...
Meanwhile Krang and Shredder free themselves from the rubble of the caved-in building and head back to the nuclear power plant.
Back at the Turtles' lair, the weakened Turtles are revived. The "past" Turtles want to get home. Carter sends out a message to Landor and Merrick to take the Turtles back to the past but he gets no response. Donatello reminds them that the "past" Turtles can only remain for a short while or all eight Turtles will cease to exist!
Krang and Shredder are heading to the power plant when they run into a patrol of bat-men. Krang hypnotizes one of them and they continue to the power plant.
Back at the lair, Landor and Merrick materialize only to find that the "past" Turtles went to battle the Attack Monsters. They go off to find them.
Carter and the "present" Turtles arrive at the power plant and battle Dregg and the remaining bat-men. During the battle, Dregg goes after Shredder, hoping to get the chip back. Donatello is knocked into the computer and he quickly does some rewiring. Dregg traps Shredder, Krang, Carter and the Turtles and gets the chip! He puts in into the transporter and orders Mung to transport a sunspot to the nation's capital. Mung throws the switch and on the screen you can see the capital burn. Dregg watches as more sunspots are being transported to cities around the world.
Dregg calls the UN demanding they surrender the world to him or he will turn the entire planet into a boiling sun. The UN official does not know what on Earth Dregg is talking about. Dregg is enraged. He checks his computer and discovers he's got a bogus chip. Donatello reveals that he rewired the computer to play Dregg's VR simulation of the sunspots.
Dregg is furious. He aims his wrist blaster and is about to start shooting when the "past" Turtles arrive in the Attack Monster. The other Turtles finally capture Dregg and drain him of his Krang/Turtle energy. They transport Shredder and Krang back to Dimension X, and transport Dregg and Mung back to their home planet. Landor and Merrick arrive and take the "past" Turtles back to their own time.

But this is not the last time we see Dregg he's been back for awhile which is unexplained

then he gets sent back to demension x again and hires a bunch of aliens to attack the tmnt he keeps the best ones and captures them and takes all of there powers in his exogenisis Morphoskeleton.
Mung Leaves Dregg because he says he is mad with power and dregg hits him and leaves mung and takes all of his microbots.
A fierce battle ensues, with Dregg using the different alien attributes to attack the Turtles. They try to stop him but fail. The TMNT retreat and figure another way to handle the super-powered Dregg. In the meantime, Dregg decides to kidnap April.
Donatello recalls that Krang's old android body was extremely powerful. They have to go through the portal to Dimension X and retrieve it. Michaelangelo is sure that they will be able to defeat Dregg with it.
Eventually our heroes catch up with Dregg. Donatello causes the android bodysuit to make a swift ninja move and grab Dregg in a martial arts hold. He and Michaelangelo dive out of the suit just as it shrinks down, all the while holding Dregg. The shrinking suit crushes Dregg down to normal size. The villain is weakened from the battle, and the five aliens de-morph and emerge from Dregg's body. Donatello drains the evil energy from Dregg and it leaves Dregg even weaker and frightened.
The Turtles throw Dregg and the aliens through the portal leading to Dimension X. A second later the portal closes up and Dregg is gone forever!
End of anything related to shredder and krang dregg or anything else...shows over kiddies.

It's exactly what I was starting to wonder! I had just been re-watching seasons 1-3 of Original TMNT but then missed a bunch of seasons in between and got back watching Seasons 8 and 9 and Obviously a lot has transpired and I noticed Shredder and Krang no longer around and this Dregg guy now the 'super villian'. And I was wondering what happened to Shredder and Krang and if they were defeated completely before seasons 8 and 9 but apparently they are coming back ...> I haven't yet got to those last few episodes you were describing... But now I can't wait, they sound good.

Anyways, really cool that this thread is brought up at this time.
