Murphy, episode 14 of FF seems to be airing on TV in two weeks.

Does that mean splitting FF into two seasons has been scraped? 4kids seem to be airing the season as one.

Thank you and good night *takes a bow*
I'm thankful my comic sture has more respect for the Turtles. They usually have some Tales and TMNT back issues. They may get some new ones if they movie does well.

But I'm thankful that they keep the Turtle comics in with the indys, and not with the kiddie section.

Atomic is the one that seems to get them the most if im lucky since they dont order that many copies perhaps your the other person buying them lol this all has become rather difficult just trying to read a comic book when it should be easy to get.

This question is for Mr. Murphy. I'm very excited for the film and have the best hopes for it.
As we all know, there will never be a R-rated, or quote hardcore, Ninja Turtles movie (with I guess hardcore meaning an ultra serious storyline about family/honor/life/death/...Sonny Chiba/Street Fighter type violence, or at least Leo, Raph, and the baddies would...I mean they are ninjas lol...or swearing...I mean they are teens in NYC lol or at least Raph would). Don't get me wrong I fully understand it was a Kids cartoon and Kid-friendly movies...and I love them to death. And I understand fully why it will never cease to be and I accept that, it makes total logical and business sense

But I was wondering on your thoughts on the subject...not on how likely it would get made (which is slim and none, and slim left town) but if you or anybody you know in the company have a personal wish of one day seeing something like this done (whether another company making the movie, live action tv series on HBO, etc.)? Since whoever saw the first film in 1990 would be in their twenties, even thirties...thus age appropriate?

I hope this isn't a stupid question on my part...since it doesn't have much to do with the new movie in question, but I was just curious on Mr. Murphy's thoughts on the matter. Thank you

I know this is off-topic to the movie, but turtles-related and i dunno if Murphy reads other threads and this is the only one he replies in. Oh, and cheers for all the insider ino by the way, you rock

I got the Panel to Panel Tales tpb with the signed bookplate, which is extra cool, and was wondering if there are any plans to do a similar thing with all the Tales tpb's or if this was just a one-off? And also do you know how many of the bookplates were released out into the wild?

I just met D'israeli (for the fourth time, he's a regular signer and friend of the owned of my local comic shop) and gave him the tpb to sign, and he seemed very happy and surprised to have his Donatello on the first intro page of the collection. So he signed that (To Michael, D'israeli 2006 x) and also done a little head sketch in the bookplate for me, he really is too cool. So i've got an extra sig in my bookplate just thought i'd let you know!

I go to Comic Ink. It's a small shop in Culver City. Down the street from the Dixion Library.

Murphy,

You seem to have a lot of contacts, so I have a question for you.

Have you, or anyone else at Mirage been picking up the classic series on DVD? The First Volume was crappy video quality, while the 'lost' episodes looked pristine. Volume 2 was pretty good looking with no complaints. Volume 3 started to degrade, Volume 4 got worse. Volume 5 got a little better, but Volume 6 is the worst of the Batch.

Take a look at Plan Six From Outer Space. I thought I had popped in my old VHS tape instead. There's tracking errors on the top, a grainy, fuzzy looking picture, and the picture jumps around, or 'explodes' bigger and then smaller every few frames.

Turtle Terminator has tracking errors on 1/3rd of the bottom screen for most of the ep, and there is edge artifacting and pixilation on the sides of the screen.

Big Break In was jumping around in picture so much for a few seconds at a time, I thought my desk and monitor where shaking.

Other episodes have more dust and specs and other film eliments on them than the previous releases did. Not only that, Lions Gate seems to be encoding these at 352X240 screen resolution at less than DVD quality, because the smaller the picture gets, the better it looks. On a 20" Monitor, it looked worse than VHS quality on some episodes!

Do you think you might be able to find an answer as to how these episodes are authored, and why Lions Gate is putting absolutley no effort into these releases? Could Mirage or Fred Wolf Films give the liscence to someone who will actually spend some time restoring these episodes if they are indeed in such sorry shape? (Wich I find hard to beleive since the 1988 season came out so great looking)....

Any info is greatly appreciated
Neil

Find a new store

"There's no point carrying a company that only has 2 titles"
"Mirage is independent so we don't carry them"
"Their special order only"
"They won't send it to us unless we order it from some special other company"

Now I don't believe that, or most of it. Most of these idiots don't even know anything about TMNT, one of them told me Eastman still produced the comics. And one of them told me they stopped making TMNT after the Image series -_-

So I was wondering why it is that TMNT issues aren't being shipped, atleast to my area. I don't like buying them online because of shipping. For the price of shipping I could afford another issue.
Hello. My take is that your retailer is a sloth. Sure, we only produce two-three comics per month and yes, we're independent. But we are not "special order." Our comics can be found listed in every month's issue of Diamond's Previews catalog... just like every other mainstream and indie comics company.

That's just plain lazy and/or greedy on their part and not very good business.

Gosh, you're right... I can't keep up with 4Kids, they keep changing their collective mind. The original plan was to air the first 13 episodes this year, the second 13 next year (fall 07).

But.

Here's the latest plan re the airing of FF. 4Kids is now going to air 14 episodes this season and then 12 next.

However.

4Kids has the right to change its mind should it find some reason to and thus theoretically they could air 15 as well, or 16, or all 26 episodes this season (and then worry about what do in fall 07 later).

Not very scientific... but that's the latest.

Slim to none, you're right, at least in the short term.

As far as to whether or not I have a personal desire to see an R-rated version of the TMNT is concerned... no, I have none. Aside from ultra-violence I think the story themes (honor/family/life/death) that you site in your post can be done in a PG or PG-13 film. In fact, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised by what you'll see in the new movie.

Yeah, this is off-topic to the movie but then most of my posts are. Maybe I need my own thread? (I pretty much stick to this thread, although I did make a post or two recently on the "Spoiler" movie thread.)

And yup, we'll be doing a signed book plate for the second Tales TPB (collecting the "Blind Leo" saga), as well as for the "Collected TMNT Work of Michael Zulli" TPB. As long as John over at Panel To Panel keeps asking us for the book plates, we'll keep providing him with art and signatures. Oh, I think John printed up 50 book plates but I'm not positive.

Lions Gate doesn't even send us copies of the DVDs. We usually have to order them on-line. That should give you some sense of the relationship between LG and Mirage.

I don't watch them and don't think anyone else here does. If the DVDs are of as bad quality as you describe then that really really sucks. Mirage unfortunately has no quality or any other sort of control over the release of these DVDs.

Sounds like someone's just trying to make a quick buck off the TMNT. Big surprise, eh?

yes that is what the're doing and it's really sad they're even copying the 2k3 shows art work and doing it in an old school cartoon way...I mean this new dvd that came out has a white or gray splinte ron the front..I mean gimmie a break.
hmm and if I may pry a bit how did this all come about that Mirage has no say in anything old toon? Bad contract etc.?

Just the nature of the deal between Mirage and Murakami-Wolf (producers of the old toon). MW has the right to cut whatever DVD deal it wants, so...

No news. Don't think anything has changed since the flurry of postings re ordering the LS in OZ. Correct me if I'm wrong though.

Thanks for the info.

It is confusing though, because if there are no new episodes in Spring of '07...then that means 4kids is basically going to make people sit through around 8 months of repeats until the Fall.

Do they honestly believe airing nothing but reruns for 8 months will help ratings for the show or anything? Likewise, I find it awfully confusing why they wouldn't air new episodes around the debut of the new movie. Surely airing new episodes around the time the movie comes out will boost interest in both, right? 4kids ARE getting revenue from the new movie too, I assume?

I really don't know why they don't air the 12 Lost season episodes instead in Spring of '07 and save the last 12 eps of Fast Foward to the Fall. At least that way there would be new episodes airing to help boost interest in the movie, and it seems stupid to put money into developing a "season" that'll never air on TV.

Likewise, Dan Berger said no new scripts are being written after FF. That doesn't sound very positive, assuming this show isn't meant to be cancelled after FF ends... (I hope not!). I would assume Peter Laird also wants this series to have a decent ending, and while I don't know what happens in the last FF episode, I hope that something special is planned if the show is coming to an end. I'd hate to see such a great show end with a crappy sendoff.

As for Playmates, assuming the toys of both FF and the Movie figure line sell well, wouldn't they want the new show to continue so they can continue to produce more toys for it? Does Playmates have a say in the matter whether they can get 4kids to renew the series for another season or so forth? It's pretty confusing for us fans when determining if the new show has more seasons left after the Ninja Tribunal Arc and Fast Foward.
