Now thats not right..it's only the critics job to watch the movie and review, he doesnt have to research it or it's creators. TMNT isn't for everyone, nor is any film. Continuing to bash critics for hating something you like gets to be pretty hypocritical when you know that if this guy gave a good review, you'd be praising it, whether he did his research or not, which is not his job.

its not going to win everyone over. even films like Spider-Man 2 and Batman Begins have people that say it sucked so its best not to get so bent out of shape over it. at the end of the day its what you get from the film that matters.

Good point, sys. I never pay much attention to what reviewers OR critics say about a movie myself.

For instance, the critics all raved about how good the first Dukes of Hazzard movie was (and most of them denigrated the wonderfully funny TV series that inspired it), but to me (after reluctantly agreeing to watch the DVD release with my niece), it confirmed my opinion that it was nothing but a idiotic, decidedly UN-funny and ridiculous parody of the original series itself. jessica Simpson as Daisy and Willy Nelson as Uncle Jesse were just....wrong, that's the long and the short of it.)

And besides, IF you look at the track record of MOST reviewers and critic, 9 times out of 10, the movie that they pan or put down will be the most popular with the fans. The difference between them and us is that WE go to a movie because we love the characters and/or story. THEY watch them 9and most of the time DIS them) because they're PAID to (supposedly) be objective, but IF the don't like a flick, there's no way in shell that they're gonna say anything good about it.

And that's MY $0.02 cents on the matter!

I disagree with a lot of the review but agree with others. The animation models themselves didn't give much to work with, I really REALLY hate that April. I remember the cover from the beginning of the original comics, with April and the guys standing around, then think of the movie April and really wonder where it went wrong. A lot the characters seemed more like charicatures of their old selves. Even though Pete was involved, if you're expecting anything like the mirage comics... DON'T. Go in expecting Turtles meets Power Rangers and your expectations won't be lowered like mine were.

How about I go in expecting it to be excellent. That okay with you?

If the monsters, which the powerful Max Winters (Patrick Stewart) has been trying to find with the help of the Foot Clan and the story's resuscitated stone soldiers, have been wreaking havoc on the earth for three millennia, why is this the first time anyone has heard anything about them?More importantly, why are they all chillin' in the Big Apple?

I thought the monsters were supposed to be creatures from urban legends : bigfoot, jersey devil, vampire monster etc.

plus there was a line in the novel where Winters explains why the monsters are suddenly showing up in NYC. He explained it as their animal instinct leading them there because of the stars lineing up, about to open the gateway to where they originally came from--did it get cut from the film?

Conceived for fans but dumbed down for tots, "TMNT" takes one of the most curious comicbook phenoms of the '80s and translates it to yet another platform: a PG-rated all-CG toon. Animation quality is leagues beyond the hand-drawn style that launched the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to popularity, and the storyline is no shallower than "300" (even if ripped turtle shells have nothing on Spartan abs), but pic lacks the personality that made these animated action figures so appealing 20 years ago. Kids will devour this like anchovy-free pizza, while nostalgia-driven kidult attendance should spell sequels for this "cash cowabunga."

Don't worry about the critics. If the movie is any good, (judging by the clips, it looks like to be quite the TMNT crowd pleaser) than it will be fine. Just go and watch it so you can form your own opinion.

I'm going because I like to see the Turtles on the big screen. The characters look to be down pat, and the cgi is awesome. And you have that big climatic Leo vs Raph fight. How cool is that?

I'm not sure, johnnyblaze; I'm not seeing it until Friday. Looks like the whole board will have seen it before me. I actually think it's pretty cool that they're all monsters from urban legends.

Does anyone know how many "urban legend" monsters are in the movie, and which ones they are?

I assumed that clarified that at the very beginning. I missed like the first 2-3 minutes because my dumbass brother HAD to have a $5 icee.

If it wasn't in those 3 minutes, then they don't say anything about it in the film. They don't give any of the monsters names, and the "jersey devil" had about as much screen time as slimer did in the original ghostbusters movie.

The first reviewer was fine in my opinion, but the second link posted was harsh and not really proffessional. Who uses the word "lame" when writing movie reviews for a living? He brings up good points but doesn't execute his writing well.

You got it, brotha. People who use the, "They just don't know about the subject!" excuse are in heavy denial.

Everyone needs to just stop slamming on critics at this point. As long as you like the movie, who cares? And just because it's the turtles doesn't mean we all need to ignore all the things that may be negative about the movie. I really think people need to stop trying to convince themselves they'll enjoy the movie, and just see it and find out for themselves.

Hmm, since it's a movie critic I'd guess they're talking about the first few films. The first movie was as slapstick as this movie was imo. Mikey was in my opinion much worse in the new movie than he was in the original cartoon.
