I'm afraid not, I was really disapointed about that.

About critics though, there are some that seem to view TMNT and the Turtles in general as just some cash cow, and will go into the movie with a bias against it, but sure who cares as long as they don't damage the success of it by stopping people going to see it.
I really hope it kicks box office arse, because I think the sequel will be something special.

Well I've often noticed while following movies on ComingSoon.net that when a movie jumps into the top 5 most page views before release, it's got some huge buzz going for it. TMNT just hit 4 on their list yesterday. On top of that, they're going into the weekend all by their lonesome. Their only competition will be The Hills Have Eyes 2, which obviously attracts a much different audience than TMNT will. CG movies usually pull in good numbers thanks to kids anyways, and those usually don't have a highly regarded and established license behind them. Of course, 300 is still going to have a strong follow-up, with all the buzz still surrounding the movie after two weeks. I'm hoping for at least one really really strong weekend, followed by a good week and some decent weekends to follow.

Well actually it's a pretty stiff competition...the TMNT are gonna have many films to fight with as there are a total of 6 films debuting this weekend:
1. TMNT (of course)
2. Hills Have Eyes 2 (say what you will but sequels and horror have been doing well)
3. Reign Over Me (Adam Sandler usually equals big box office $)
4. Shooter (action pic with Marky Mark)
5. Pride (not a drama but a daarrammmaaa bout a swim team...ok not big box office material lol

)
6. Last Mimzy (kid's flick...although never even heard of the thing lol)
Plus 300 and Wild Hogs (don't laugh it's gotten at least $100 million so far lol) are going strong, and Meet the Robinsons is coming out the week after...so TMNT has a large fight ahead of them.

Although i DO hope TMNT wins this battle....I mean if Wild Hogs can make $100 million?!? why not TMNT? lol although i haven't seen Wild Hogs so who knows maybe it deserves its' success lol.

Anyway congrats to the lucky cats who got to see the flick early.

TMNT's real competition is Shooter and 300. Hills Have Eyes 2 doesn't seem to be highly anticipated and releasing horror movies in March isn't exactly very good. Look at Dead Silence, it's from the guys who made Saw and it barely cracked 7 million. Last Mimzy looks like a come and go movie, highly forgettable, and Adam Sandler dramas don't do as well as his comedies(see Punch Drunk Love for reference). Shooter however looks like a movie people will see because of Mark Whalberg and the fact it has explosions and shootings, and 300 is still riding the wave of phenominal buzz. However, TMNT has a very large fan base with kids, teens AND adults waiting to see this movie. In the end, most likely TMNT will come out on top with a fairly large opening weekend, with Shooter in 2nd, 300 at 3rd, Hills, Reign, and so forth.

Shooter is nothing original and should be discarded (I've seen movies like that about 50 times or more) as does the Last Mimzy. 300 I agree is an incredible film which I doubt would have run its race already. Hill Have Eyes 2 may be its biggest competitor even though it's another horror remake sequel but people (for some reason) just can't resist them no matter how bad they may be. Still, I think TMNT can be #1.

I'm pulling for TMNT for #1 at the box office. Its a household name with a large fan base and it appeals to wide range of the young to old demographic. If Ghost Rider and Wildhogs can make $100 million, then TMNT should to. Those were bad movie and it still made money. From what I seen, TMNT looks like its going to rock. I think its good on warner bros part to release it early before the big summer blockbuster films, otherwise, it may be overlooked.

edit: I noticed he had some of the same complaints as the other reviews (April being able to fight, not enough of Mikey and Don, monster subplot) with the big difference being he still enjoyed it

I want to read the aint it cool news review. they keep hinting that they liked it and now my curiosity is getting the best of me

I gotta agree with Peanut. Guess not everyone on these boards understands the whole concept of opinions. Everyone jumps on the negative reviewers, but the sing the praises of anyone that reviews it positively.

And it's one thing to defend what you like, but another thing to outright bash them just because they found it flawed.

Cool, I liked reading that review, it was well done. Except for the first half focusing on 300 when it's a review for TMNT. I disagree with critics all of a sudden not getting the cultural shift in movies. They've never been ones to give praise to movies like 300, it's really nothing new.
