Yeah I knew it was a CGI movie going in. I didn't know they were going to make everyone look like characitures. I mean my video games looked more realistic

You people need to realize not everyone is going to agree with you! Just because someone DIDNT like the movie's art direction doesn't make them a troll. It is not a FACT that it was universally liked by everyone.

That's extremely harsh, I thought the CGI was excellent throughout the whole film.
It's a comic book movie dude, why were you expecting realism?

The scene at the end with them fighting the foot with Splinter/April/Casey was awesome but short.
Oh you must be that guy! The one who said that Munroe, not Lucas ruined your childhood!

I can't think of any other comic book (please note that I only read turtles comics if i'm missing something, sorry) that has the good guy and bad guy love each other.[/SPOILER]
Ooooh god, here we go...'shipper nonsense.

Spoiler:
Yes, Leo and Karai like each other, but in the comics it's more or less platonic, anything else is completly overexaggerated by dumbass 'shippers who want a Turtle to have inter-species intercourse. The movie had Kari's more humane, and comedic moments shared with a member of the Foot Ninja she in particular seemed pretty attached to (all whilst he was'nt talking), and in the current cartoon, she fell for Chaplin. Both cases are more than enough indications that the writers want plausible relationships.

Would that be correct?
Well partially.

The cgi humans: ridiculous, awful.
The cgi turtles and generals: just fine.
The environments: great

But, the CGI for the movie was just overall awful. I hated it. Like I said, how do I get into a martial arts movie where nothing is actually taking place or real? The skateboarding scene for example... the beauty of watching real skaters do tricks is they are REALLY doing tricks. Even watching someone do tech deck tricks would be more exciting because there is skill involved, not mouse clicks. I couldn't take it seriously. As far as story goes CGI is fine, but not action. The only things that really are exception are those Yoda moments and Splinter had one for sure.

Saw it tonight and here are my thoughts:

Visuals

I really liked the CGI. Everything looked real nice. The "humans" looked strange(really skinny or really huge), but thats nothing new and it didn't really distract me. I prefer this over live action because the turtles in the old movies were so restricted.

Voice Acting

The turtles were right on. At the beginning I didn't like Leos voice, but as the movie went on I decided I liked it. Casey and April were good as well. I didn't think S.M.G. did a bad job, see sounded like an April. As for Splinter....his voice bothered me throughout, he sound like...I dunno but drunk is a good way to describe it as someone has mentioned. Overall the VA was well done.

Story

I am not really familiar with the comics or this story, but I wasn't to happy with it. I felt the beginning with the "stars aligning" and "immortal man" was real cheesey, it made me cringe. I heard some people kinda sigh at how simple the story was. More foot clan would've been good. I really dont like the monsters either. It's just...i dunno, bad. But I was just glad to see the turtles in theatres. The Leo-Raph parts of the movie were good, but any parts dealing with Winters bored me. Some of the dialouge was embarassing, but I guess that's to be expected. Mikey had some funny moments, but for every funny one he had a real dud.

I really hope for a sequel with less monsters and more ninjas. Hopefully this movie does well enough do warrant one. I went to an 8:15 showing sat. night and it was probably 25% full. But lots of people on here said they've been to sold out shows, so who knows. I would give this movie an 8/10, but if I were to rate it with my TMNT bias aside I would give it a 7/10, maybe 6/10.

The dialouge was at times better than the current cartoon has had.

As for the immortality story, it was'nt ABOUT Winters being immortal, it's what he was trying to accomplish. This is why people who are criticising the portrayal of Winters should rewatch the movie and THINK for ten flipping minutes, instead of obeying what the trailers show

That's just like why Elisa Maza's hair is blue in Gargoyles and the outline of Batman's figure is blue in Batman TAS. It can be quite dark that black would throw off the lighting and stuff.

Yeah I know. But he was immortal for 3000 years correct? I understand his story was about making a wrong right, to fix things.

I mean just look at casey jones, he looked ridiculous

They should have kept the feeling of the first movie by making it realistic looking
Look, I was marching with the grand marshall of the doubt parade when it came to the artistic direction they took with the humans. You're totally right-- the humans DON'T look "realistic." But as I watched the movie I came to realize that, in the end, it's for the best! IF they'd made the humans realistic, I promise you that it would change how people see the turtles and the scenery, in a negative way. Contrast is incredibly important in artistic presentation, and the human designs in this flick completed a set of balancing contrasts that tied the whole look together.

And FWIW, they didn't go totally "realistic" with the turtles. Our critic friend Roger Moore kindly points out that they didn't make 'em look more like turtles... with nostrils and beaks and the testudinally correct number of fingers and toes, and a whole lotta other stuff... but then, that's OK with me. Roger Moore hates the Ninja Turtles.

Zarius is right...you say that the TMNT and General animation was good, the environments were "great" but over all the CGI sucked and you hate it. How does that work? You've basically said the only thing you "hate" is the human character designs. The Human CGI is only 1/3 of the movie, how can 1/3 be "overall"?

Realistic turtles: making them look like they were in the first movie: existant in the real world.

Your point? He did'nt have the resources obviously to track and cage those demons for a while. Immortality does'nt buy you class

Sorry for getting tempered, it's just the character of Winters had a good twist, one of the best in the movie
