Saying that TMNT being on comic book shelves will expand the audience more than having it online is ridiculous. Only fans go to comic book stores, everyone gets online. Yeah, you probably won't accidentally trip over an online Ninja Turtles comic, but you'll have a better chance of seeing it than if it was in a comic shop and you're not someone who goes into comic shops.
I know of at least two people (my niece and nephew) who will start reading this online despite not owning any printed comics (other than the few that I've given them As for the quality…

Looks like they're testing the waters. They've set up a pay pal account where we can buy backorders of Vol 4 (issues 1 - 28 )Each issue is $3. Only people in the U.S can use this feature ATM tho.

Those number are extremely deceiving, though. Those are the numbers ordered by stores, not actually sold. Those high numbers are the reason that I've seen the Dreamwave TMNT comics in $.50/$1.00 bins in two different stores. They were based on the cartoon and the stores hoped to capitalize off of that by selling to kids who rarely come in so they ordered high and kept them on the shelf for a long time, but eventually if they're not gone, the price plummets.

Honestly I've lost all hope on Vol. 4 now. They're not even gonna try a subsciption service for us readers. Honestly how many of us are gonna buy these $10 issues? Anyone?
You wish that Eastman & Laird would come back together and give one final harrah on the TMNT. I have an interview of them from a defunct comic mag from '92, talking about "City at War" at that time Vol. 1's #50 that they did. They mentioned they had a story and plans for a TMNT graphic novel that would be a future TMNT-middle aged story. Laird didn't know if they'd ever do it, Eastman said they will and that he had all the notes somewhere. Aw mann you just wish they'd come back and do this instead. Heck do it for the 25th anniversary! But who am I kidding? I think I emailed Laird a few years ago, and asked of this graphic novel. He said he has no problems with doing this he just didn't know if i'd ever happen. He sort of doubted it, I guess cause he and Kevins situations. But he also told me that he'd used some of the ideas already in Vol. 4. I'm guessing one them was Splinters death no doubt. And you wonder what Mirages plans are for the 25th anniversary? Knowing Mirage being so small it maybe pretty much not much. Maybe we'll finally see the collected books of Vol. 1 series (unfortunately redone by Laird)? To me what else can they do for this event? The Archie series' "Forever War" will finally will be concluded. But that to me means nothing, I wasn't into this comic. I'm an original TMNT fan of the B&W comics. What does anyone else think of this 25th anniversary? |

While I am certainly excited to see The Forever War, I do remain somewhat skeptical on what else they have planned. However, I have heard from a good source that there is at least one particularly exciting thing planned, although I was given no hints as to what this might be.

They need to get the rest of Vol 4 online quick if they are going to get any new fans through, though. The whole series really depends on you knowing what has happened before to fully enjoy it, so if anyone comes in on #29, they're going to be immediately turned off, if they're able to read the whole series, though I really think this can get them a lot of new (to the comic) fans.

4 pages? before each comic? you dont need THAT much.
Personally, I'd be fine with the one page "story so far" thing that was done in the Leonardo: Blind Sight story and is now being done with Raphael. There should definitely be SOMETHING though for the people who are just starting. |

They already have four page previews, I'm talking about putting the full comics online like they're going to do with new issues, though. I think this is a great opportunity to pick up new fans, but dropping them into an ongoing story 30 issues in is not gonna keep them for long.

Posting the first 28 Vol. 4 comics online would definitely help new readers understand everything going on. Even I don't know all of the Vol. 4 stuff.

I'd like to see more of Volume 4. And for it to pick up the pace.
But most important, they need to remember the series is called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles They are not Teenagers anymore. That's fine. The mutants walk around like everyone else. That's fine. WHERE is the ninjutsu? I do not see much of it in Volume 4. It was so crucial in Volume 1. But now I see so little of it. Possibly cause Splinter is gone. At least we have the Tales. But in 4 there is little of it from what I gather- other than the Battle Nexus and Leo helping the Foot and Splinter having trained Shadow.

The Ninjitsu not playing a factor in the storylines has more to do with Peter's preference for fantasy and science-fiction first, and action later. Action tells the story only when it should, kind of like how a Ninja shouldnt escalate a battle unless forced to.

I believe it was Goongasnooch who amused me so much a few months ago when he told me how disappointed he was that Volume 4 had stopped.... because someone was almost going to fight.
Really, it still makes me laugh.

I think everybody agrees that TMNT has some magic in it , that it is suitable for every genre. Ninja, Sci Fi, goose bumps, light hearted space adventure, dystopia style , cheap horror and sometimes even pulp fantasy.
Tbh, less ninja action is .. yeah.. a bit weird for a group of ninjas. But that does not bother me so much. Cause i really like the other types, too. and they are making the TMNT universe much more funny and rich.

The Ninjutsu? Why it's clearly there when Michelangelo was starting to train those midget Triceratons...who appearantly all worship the TMNT to the point that on the Triceraton homeworlds they have their OWN TMNT animated series...

To be honest, I'm not all that crazy about volume four re-launching. I always look back and see how terrible it is compared to the other volumes (I want to say excluding three, but I don't even know anymore). I mean, it's cool as far as storylines go, but it seems like we could replace the Ninja Turtles with any random four people and the storyline wouldn't even be that messed up.
I hope Laird can tweak his vision just a little bit to reflect more on the TMNT I grew to love. Now, it's all one big soap opera and mishap after another. Rarely have I seen a battle where their skills in ninjutsu was needed. It's sorta boring. But who knows, last I remembered, something was about to go down.
