Murphy said these colors are a bit washed out so April won't be as pale and I assume her hair will be a little darker too.

I can also live with these, but I did like April/Casey's designs in FF, so eh.

Eh, I guess I'm alright with April's design. She looks kind of bland though.

Maybe something about her outfit to make her stand out? I mean 80's April had the jumpsuit, 2003 April had the belly shirt. Maybe this one could have...a slightly less belly showing belly shirt? A cape? I don't know.

As for April.... yea...she looks like she's from the Winx Club (which had many of the TMNT VA's).

I think I like the new designs. I'm kinda glad April's hair is more natural and not that weird pink color, haha. But I agree, she's a bit too thin and young looking. Casey looks real cute! I'll still miss all the 2k3 designs, though.

April's design is too different like everyone says. Hopefully, they'll go back and tweak the look a little more to make her a better blend between the movie April and the 2k3 April.

Casey looks fine, but I'm a little iffy about the hair. It looks too long and too neat to be the wild and crazy Casey Jones we all know and love.

Once again, a very smart move on their part by releasing the new designs early. It'll allow people more time to adjust, less wild speculation, or vent whatever anger they have over them. So far, the reactions have been pretty positive. Hopefully, they do more.

Here's what I posted on murphy's blog in response, but I took it down because I thought it might hurt the feelings of the artists who slaved away on this. I know this stuff is hard work. I'm just critical until the final work is in.

The designs are clean and simple. They evoke the movie designs very well.

Now I personally disliked the human designs in the 2007 movie, but I guess the new season designs are required to bridge the 2k3 style with the new movie style.

Now here's the result I see so far: The humans are very pretty and unoffensive. They are safe, conventional. Unfortunately that effect of generic prettyness/coolness is that Casey looks rather foppish. His shirt his "preppy" and his overall look seems kind of out of character. If the hair were a little more unkempt I think this would work a lot better. But currently, Casey-in-development seems to care a great deal about his pretty image.

April has given up her warm, caring, compassionate (almost motherly) demeanor in exchange for lowered eyelids, a Winx Club hairstyle, a (short) teenager's body, and very shiny, dazzling green eyes. I'm reading a completely different personality. At last, April is keenly aware of how attractive she is, and not much else.

I know these aren't final. That's why I'm being very, very critical.

I have faith that the designs will look great by the end, and that at the very least we will have another worthy season of TMNT.

Movie april did indeed look skinny but not not in a bad way.

Just ranting a bit, the whole OMG SHE LOOKS ANOREXIC!! is dumb, not to mention there are tons of very skinny girls IRL who are NOT anorexic its just the way they are.

Seriously, that's not even my problem with the new design for April. She's just too different. The She no longer looks anything like the same person we've known in previous seasons. As Fledermaus pointed out, there is no longer any implied trace of the same character. So, I guess my skepticism was right. They are still trying to reinvent the show instead of just improving it. -_-

As for the Casey design, I was too overwhelmed with the scrawny April design to comment yesterday. I'm fairly impressed with the design for Casey. He's different, but not unbelievably so. So, I applaud the artists for making a decent bridge between 2K3 and the movie. However, he doesn't fully gain my approval. Again, as Fledermaus noted, he's just too pretty-boyish. But, that's the only complaint I have about him. He's, otherwise, perfect. With the Turtles having been absent for so long (which is yet to be seen if it'll work out that way), it's safe to assume that Casey took his vigilante gig more seriously. And, since he has a lady to impress now, it's not TOO far-fetched to believe that he would 'clean up'.

Well, if they plan on reforming the characters, it stands to reason that some of the voice actors may be exchanged as well. It would suck big time, but if they keep that new design for April, I can't imagine hearing the same voice coming from her. At the least, I would expect Veronica Taylor to at least make some reasonable alterations. This is not what I want, but just what I anticipate.

I heard from someone who went to Youmacon that the entire voice cast was back for the new season.

I do wish April looked a bit older....

Funny, I don't anticipate any of this. I have virtually no clue why people jump the gun because of an animation change. People pulled this when FF was first revealed, and actually said the same thing about a voice switch.

The show is still produced by 4kids, uses mostly the same creative team, is in continuity with everything before it, and there's NEVER been one thing hinting at a voice switch from anyone involved with production or any of the Mirage staff. Instead, we have fans jumping the gun for no reason at all, which is understandable I suppose, but supports no basis.

Just for comparison's sake: the new, prototype models for Casey and April, and the ones for the previous seasons.

And yeah, I'd be surprised if the cast changes at all. After all, the show is still produced in New York and handled by 4Kids, so why change it if you're just going to be drawing from the same pool of actors? The only character I could see getting a new VA is Hun (if he appears at all), since his Season 5 VA screams "stand-in".

I see your point. It takes courage to decide sometimes. I'll try to think that it's as unlikely an outcome as it's ever been. I just have a habit of validating long-shots. ^_^

Heh, Casey really does look more "clean shaven" now.

Seeing the two Aprils really reinforces the fact that the new one is too thin. The 2k3 April was also thin but she didn't look anorexic.
