I feel it was alright. Time travel was gimmicky, and they should have BEGGED AND PLEADED with henson to do the suits for them, or just fix up the ones they had before. But then again, I think that out of the 4 films, the first and the last were the best in terms of story crafting. The second stumbled into Ghostbusters syndrome.

Ghostbusters syndrome is when a movie comes out, and in between the first film and the second, the cartoon becomes so popular, it somehow incorporates the cartoon into the film. The WORST example of this was Men in Black 2. The second film tried to blend cartoon concepts into the movie universe (the addition of other mutants). And I think the Super Shredder ending was pretty cartoonish, even for the Turtles. The third had an interresting concept, but something just didn't work with it. There was something missing, and I just can't put my finger on it. it isn't the puppetry, it isn't the acting... it's just something intangable that's wrong with the film.

the hensons bid for hte job i think but their bid was too high so the movie people went with the cheaper bid and got less quality.

i could be wrong but i thought i read something like that?

it really makes a difference how the turtles are represented. I saw it once in '93...I'd have seen it alot more if the Hensons had done it.
The TMNT3 tie in toys looked better than the turtles IN the movie.

Like a lot of people have said, this movie had potential, but didn't really pull it all together. It's basic storyline is the most epic of the three live-action movies, and the sets and the shots are the most cinematic, yet most of the attempts at humor comes from cheesy topical references, and the costumes are such a downgrade from the first two movies.

However, I really like the fact that it tries to highlight more of the differences between the turtles. Although there was still characterization in the first two movies, 99% of the time the four were all interacting in the same scene and focused on the same goals - well, except for Raph being singled out by storming off. This movie splits them up, having scenes with Mikey crushing on Mitsu, Raph mentoring Yoshi, Don trying to work with the blacksmith, and Leo excelling at horseback riding when the others failed. These differences come into play in the scene at the end when they're arguing about going home or not.

Oh, and I like Paige Turco's April a lot better in this movie than SOTO. At least she shows some spunk in III.

you call that spunk? I call it forced acting. It seemed like she was trying to pull off old toon April's famous "mouthing off to the villans" character moments for which she is famous for, but completly falling short. I cringe every time I see Paige's attempt at a "threatening April" when she get up in the gaurds face and and insists that she can reduce him to a "steaming pile of puke". Ugh

that sounded so forced....

I would have liked Rennet and Savanti to be in it, considering it was time travel and all... but back then, I still woulda thought it would suck cause I wouldn't have know who they are and woulda wished part 3 had someone from the show like Rat King, Baxter or Slash or whoever.

and I didn't get why the couldn't have Casety play Casey in the main plot instead of playing Casey's ancestor that April for no reason started crushing on.

Anyways, I'm average on the third ninja turtle movie but it's positive because of this line by donatello:

This movie came out at a time where I was obsessed with anything TMNT related, but I hated the movie. I've watched I and II several times since then, but never went back to III. I think I only really like TMNT in their sewer setting, which is why I'm not a fan of FF.

S'alright. I don't mind movie Don too much, but I see Jo Dawn's point. Donnie is fairly out of character in the 1st and 3rd movies.

I do not hate it. Or even dislike it. It is just the one movie in the franchise that deviates from the main Turtle story the most. Almost as if it were an Archie issue rather than a Mirage based one. Which is not bad- just different.

You have a point there, well with a few exceptions. In the 2nd movie, Donatello works the computer at T.G.R.I and works with Professor Perry to create the reverse mutation for Tokka and Rahzhar. In the 3rd movie, Donatello figures out the sceptor. But in the 1st movie, he doesn't do anything that involves science. The only thing he fixes is the truck at April's farm.

It's been said already, but I thought the acting sucked in III. The movie is not without merit, though, especially parts like Raph & Yoshi. The martial arts aren't too bad, and the boys seem to be able to hang on to their weapons better (thank GOD...did you see how often they dropped them in the first movie??). Hey, it's the Turtles. I watch it.

Well to be fair, in movie one they had never been in a real fight and were gaining experience throughout. By the third movie they had been in more battles so that might explain their improved combat.

I'll grant that they'd never fought against outside opponents, but what about sparring with each other? At some point in their training they would've used weapons, be they edged or practice or whatever, against each other. They trained for over 10 years...I just thought it seemed odd.
