The show has had a good run. I really don't mind that it may be ending. As long as it goes out on a strong note I'll be happy. I don't think that will be hard considering the quality of this season so far.

Just be glad we're not having the series end with a season where the guys team up with toddler versions of themselves.

Wow I've missed some big news while I was sleeping! Although I would be a little sad if the show would stop after this season all things must come eventually to an end. I just think it's weird that a lot of turtle stuff is ending with the TMNT 25th anniversary. Some celebration. *big sigh*

I'm sorry, but I'm not believing the news/rumour until it's officially confirmed this is true.

I'll wait patiently until then.

And the 25th Anniversary looms much closer. What a brilliant time to be taking things away.

The only thing we've heard is that Wal-Mart is dropping the toys and that the show hasn't been renewed. Playmates are supposedly making new figures based on the comic books, so the toys are still being produced, Ubisoft are still making games (I believe it's a Wii game), the comics are still going, DVD's will still be coming out, we just don't know either way what is going on with the cartoon show or how far into the future the figures will keep going. I had heard that Playmates were at a Toyfair this week, so I guess the future of the Turtles will be discussed afterwards.

People just need to take it easy until something official is said.

I own every OT toy, and DVD that is currently available.

However, we are talking about now. So let's go from 2003 and on.

- All single disc 2k3 episodes released.

- Every TMNT toy that has come out so far, 2k3 series, FF, movie.

- TMNT 1,2,3 on Gamecube all on day 1. 50 bucks each.

- TMNT 1,2 on Gameboy Advance all on day 1. 30 bucks each.

- TMNT 3 on Nintendo DS on day 1. 30 bucks.

- TMNT 2007 movie on DVD x2 (one for me, one for son,) and the Bluray version, all bought on day 1. 3 TMNT movie purchases for one household?

- Double dipping currently on the release of the 2k3 series in season form.

- Bought TMNT 1989 classic arcade.

- Bought TMNT on Xbox 360 on day 1. 65 bucks.

- Bought TMNT 2007 movie on Gameboy Advance on day 1. 30 bucks.

So yea, I would say that I have supported the brand. For what? To be pissed on, like other fans, on the only cartoon I ever cared about, for its 25th annivesary.

All I would like to know is, who ends up being responsible for this. 4kids? Mirage? Playmates? The best thing someone can do in the world, is tell me who ends up being responsible for this, and I swear on my 2 kids life, I will never support that company again, no matter what they bring to the table. Swears are something I never break.

For the record, growing up, my life was nothing but TMNT. Transformers? Passed. Thundercats? Passed. You name the cartoon, and I barely watched any of them, if any at all. TMNT was the cartoon I was just fine with, and to think Saturday mornings are going to be filled with crap, just doesn't make things good.

I just want to know who's throwing in the towel on this awesome brand, on its 25th birthday, so I can pay them in kind when they need it. Capitalists for the lose.

EDIT: Just to clarify... I wouldn't mind the show ending, and going out with dignity as someone else put it on this thread, but killing a show on its anniversary is dirty pool. LET THE SHOW have at least one more season during its 25th year, and then call. Let the show have a ninth season for September to December of 2009, then call it a good run. Don't kill the show midway.

-X-

Ditto. I watched the orginal and this one. It is my faviorit show of all time! i JUST WANT ONE MORE SEASON!!

That is very interesting news. Do you know on what comic books the figures are being based on?

A wii game? That sweet! One of the many reasons I bought a wii was the upcoming TMNT game. Hopefully this game will also come out in Europe, otherwise I still won't be able to play it, do'h!

This now has me wondering if this is the reason we've not seen anything or heard anything from NECA regarding TMNT in months?
I have to wonder if Playmates didn't bully them out of the license?

So I've waited a day before commenting to let it sink in and I've come to the conclusion that while I would like to see the series continue, I'd rather have it end strong than have a last season that is crap and seems forced.

I certainly hope not. Of course I have always wanted archie turtle figures that looked like movie figs.

Although Leo's my faviorite Turtle, I wish Raph got his own season. Leo got season four, Mikey had Fast Foward and I consider the current season to be Don's. There hasn't been a season really focusing on Raph.

If I ever find an address (or if someone coudl POST one) I'll write protesting for one more seaosn (13 episodes) devoted to Raph. Doubt it will help, but what the hey.

Does anyone else want a season where we focus on Raph's issues?

As I said, they're at a con this week, so we might hear something by the end. I'm surprised more people didn't jump on this when Pete said it in his interview last week. It could be that NECA are still developing the figures for the collector market, where Playmates could be going through the usual action-figure avenues.

The cartoon has done remarkably well for action cartoon in this day and age, over 150 episodes, and a direct to tv special, Warner Bros doesn't give that type of treatment to their own DC properties.

As to the whos and whys, I did recieved this e-mail from Dan Berger a few weeks ago:

"The decision to do another season of TMNT lies in 4Kids' hands, so I'm afraid that we don't have any light to shed on the matter right now."

Despite TMNT being one of their highest rated shows, one look at all the Toy/Card based shows coming out this spring and the recent success of Chaotic, it's not hard to see why 4Kids is shelving the turtles, at least to see if they can get any of these other properties they are producing to take off.

As for the comics, Tristan did post this to his blog a week ago:

"I know there's a lot of doom and gloom circulating around the TMNT brand in spite of the upcoming TMNT 25th Anniversary, but what I've been hearing from Publishing and what I've seen has me excited.......there are a couple of things in line to happen next year that I think people have been worried about to a certain extent, that should please a number of them AND give a huge number of casual Turtle fans who also happen to be hardcore comic fans something they've been asking for for a while now."
Well if it is up to them, and the decent ratings isn't enough to keep the show going for fans, then there is no reason for me to support capitalists who are all about their money. So when the money runs dry you just shun everyone? Can't rest on the laurels of your other properties to keep one that you have needed in the past, afloat? If this is truly the case, 4kids will never be tuned into again on my TV sets, and I'm always reporting to Nielsen one way or another.

Man - man - man. You know, I don't mind if the show ends, just not on its 25th anniversary. That's like breaking it off with your girlfriend, or divorcing your wife on your anniversary.

First I'm gonna get back to you later today with the pvt message you sent me, that's allot to respond to.
Secondly, I never saw Peter say a single thing about Playmates making toys based on the comics.
It could be w/ NECA but it would be nice if they'd contact Mirage and let them know what is going on.
Yes and all except Wal-Mart but here's to hoping that they jump back on the ship if Playmates starts doing good things again and gets away from those god awful Movie looking sculpts.

ENI: Will we continue to see new TMNT products from Playmates Toys? If so can you tell us what we might see in the next year from them?

Peter: Playmates will continue releasing new products. I'm not really on top of all of what they will be offering, but I know that there will be some toys related to the "Back to the Sewer" season of the tv show, which just recently started airing, as well as a pretty cool comics-related series of Turtle figures.
It's there, towards the end.

Sorry, initially I double posted because of a server lag.

Would you mind sharing the link to this interview so I can read it again to make sure I didn't skim over anything else.
Is this the same interview that he talks about Kevin in a not so nice manner?

There is actually a very irritating server error that I kept encountering last night that had me sending PMs and messages in duplicate. Could it be due to increased traffic?
