So whats the bottom line on the future of TMNT BTTS?

I'm going to bring up a thread I saw around "The Evil Empire" a couple of months ago which applies to this present state of uncertainty. The forums there had been continouslly ripe with speculation over the fate of something that they speculated would be "changing" or would left up in the air. Then they got news from very reliable sources that proved accurate. Nobody said anything beyond certain hints and revealing there was going to be a "special annoucement", hinting this was a major event.

What was the special annoucement? What was the special event?

Toonami was given a "farewell" promo.

And it's that kind of corporate apathy that got us into the banking situation, the US Auto Industry going bankrupt....etc. No one who has a position in charge of something cares about what they're doing. The show will have 155 episodes plus 1 DTV movie if it ends this season.

155 episodes is alright, but I wish we actually came closer to the 193 episode count of the original cartoon. All we really needed was one or two more seasons to reach it.

I think it would be awesome for the series to reach 200 episodes but I know that's asking allot.

What ever happened to good old patience? When I used to watch the OT as a kid, I never knew if the show was cancelled, if there was a new episode on that day, or what any episodes were going to be about. With the internet, all information is at your fingertips and it gives people a sense of having to know what's going on right now. It's cool to know stuff early, but it's all stuff that you'd find out eventually anyway. My point is that is it really that big of deal, to absolutely know right now, whether there is another season? This season's not even over yet...

Well, take into account that back then "Canceled" meant that the show was no longer on, not even in reruns to us. Plus, we didn't know reasons for this or reasons for that, and why X was canceled. Ignorance is bliss I suppose.

All I can see that happened is that they don't want a repeat of the conceptual fights we've had until they settled on BTTS. Why they wouldn't just continue with BTTS, and just bring up something with Baxter or Bishop as the main villain is beyond me..... but whatever.

Batman TAS, arguably the greatest cartoon series of all time only had 85 episodes, 109 is you count "The New Adventures Of Batman".
Justice League only 91, another amazing series.

Superman - 54
X-men - 76
Spider-man - 65
The Tick - 36
Iron-man - 26
Fantastic Four - 26
The Hulk - 21

My point here is cartoons hardly last that long, especially ones based off comics. 109 episodes is a lot but turtles has over 150. It's super rare that this happens. Hell look at the new Spider-man cartoon, it's already canceled. It's sad but there comes a time when things need to end.

I'm sure it will come back again some day but it's obvious at this point they just need to stop and give it a rest for awhile.

That's true, though, I hope it stops for a while. It's run its course for now and we can see a new series a few years in the future, but it's time for a break. These FF and BTTS seasons have just felt like extensions for the sake of having extensions. That's when you know it's time to quit for a little while. Now it's just starting to linger like houseguests who don't know when to go home.

I don't think there's any reason to complain. So many of my favorite shows have gone down after only a season or two, so it really frustrates me to see fans complaining that a franchise that has had the most episodes based on a superhero comic of any animated series, that has gone on for the better part of 25 years, is going to be gone for a while, that that isn't long enough. Seriously.

Every comic book series seems to get resurrected at some point every couple of years, it's a cycle, and TMNT's one of the bigger ones, so it'll be back.

No it's not, it hasn't even started on its new network yet.

Sure it's future isn't exactly looking bright but it's not cancelled. Weisman's buddy on, um, the Evil Empire doesn't seem concerned.

That is true. But even if we get a third cartoon down the road its going to wind up being a repeat of everything we've seen before.

The reason the 2k3 series was fresh is because the original cartoon was so different from the comics, that the 2k3 series felt new and exciting because it was completely different than the original cartoon.

However a third re-boot would most likely stick to the comic origins again, and I guess the only thing that could be different is them keeping Shredder human for the series. But otherwise its going to be April meeting the Turtles for the first time again, etc. That's why I'm glad the 4th movie wasn't a re-boot, I didn't want to sit through a repeat of Movie 1.

There are plenty of good stories from the comics the current show could use, its not like they have nothing else to go on.

Way to stay positive... Think about how many reboots Batman's on-screen presence went through. It hasn't ruined Batman's staying-power. If Batman can manage this, America's most successful independent comic property can too.

I think they ran themselves into a corner when they started with Fast Forward. The subtitle wasn't neccesary. Hell, I bet one of the reasons that the next season took so long to be decided upon was for lack of another subtitle. Now we got Back to the Sewers. It could continue with another season, but if they decide to re-do the art style again... what will be the next subtitle?
