Custom Belts for 1989 13" TMNT figures
Title says it all. These three figures are for sale. I will take orders for belts of different colors as well. Planning to buy up as many of these figures as I can for resale so if you want to go ahead and buy a turtle with a belt made to your specifications let me know. I will also share my recipe if anyone is interested.
ALL BELTS INCLUDING THE ONES THE TURTLES ARE WEARING were made by me FROM SCRATCH.

Great work! The pupils in the eyes are custom painted too, right? How much would you sell one of the turtles for?

As far as price, I've got these on e-bay right now with Buy It Now or Best Offer. http://shop.ebay.com/darthcjj1983/m....&_trksid=p4340 Quote:
The recipe is actually a fairly easy one. It doesn't require so much talent as it does time and dedication. I use construction paper, paint, sharpies, and Mod Podge (an art fixitive that is easy to get at Wal-Mart or online). You also need scissors and a ruler. I thought about using poster paper but I don't think it would work as well (you want something firm but not TOO firm). I used a ruler to measure the widths of the belts and the widths of the straps. I haven't bothered to measure length because I make them longer than I need to give me some wiggle room when I actually have to "dress" the turtles. The black belts are made from black construction paper that has been darkened with sharpie, the red one is made with red construction paper that I painted with a red oil-based paint. I'd be wary of using acrylics but I would imagine they might work. I traced the part of the belt with the letter on it from an original and then made a template to use for future belt making. The letters you have to draw freehand and cut out. There is a lot of process involved but there are a lot of variations on how you can do it. I don't always coat the entire belt at one time but sometimes I do. The straps I coat one at a time and assemble to the belts last. Leo and Don's belts take much longer to do for this very reason than Raphael and Michaelangelo's belts do. I hope to post more pictures soon, as I have finished several more belts and have several more in progress.

***ahem***
![]() ![]() Leo's belt is in progress. I've got a Mike belt in progress as well, but no Mike for it yet. I will make a decision about the straps after I've finished Leo's belt. Could be that colored belts aren't meant to have straps, or simply that Don's belt isn't meant to have straps when it's colored.

The pupils weren't MY idea, that's just how the figures are. If someone wanted one without pupils I guess I could do it, but it would be quite simple for someone to get rid of them him/herself.

Which I would gladly do, if that's what a buyer wanted.

![]() There really is no rest for the wicked. When these are done they SHOULD (if all goes as planned) have weapons holders. Raph's belt is giving me trouble for some reason but as soon as I have completed it I will post pictures. I'm trying to convince WhiteWolf (a member who is looking to buy a set of Giant 1989 turtles complete with belts with weapon holders) that the Leo and Don belts would look better with either two straps or better yet NO straps.

I actually had someone on e-bay message me tonight and ask me to make them a belt.
The next thing I plan on doing is buying up giants that are complete and making holsters/holders for the weapons. I may start one tonight for my Leo with Storage Shell style belt since I have a sword to use for the measurements now.

I've got a Giant Leo Troll complete now (with one blue sword) so I'm going to use that sword for measurements. Ordered the last 13" Leonardo (from 1989, it has a sword but no belt) off of MyTeeFineStuff.com so I only have to come up with one more sword for him now. There are a ton of lots up with TMNT Giants that actually have weapons right now, so I'm going to be selling off as many random odds and ends as possible this week to raise the money to buy up everything I need.
I have every intention of bidding on these lots: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Hey, love the belts idea, I got a mikey missing a belt. I read your recepie but dont understand that product and so im a bit confused as to what the actual belts are made of? are they paper with some sort of fabric or other material put ontop for reinforcement, or are they just thick paper or cardboard?
PS. what is 'construction paper' - is that normal paper thats just colored or is it thicker or is it like what we call 'cardboard' in Auz, and the other item you mentioned what is that like, whats it made of and made for? PS. if you want to buy the mike off me your welcome, he is in good condition but has a name written on the underside of one of his feet... not sure what they are worth. kb
