Hmm... odd. I don't know if any of the invited fans to the Nick preview event have any demonstrated artistic talent with the ol' pencil and paper. Maybe this was strategic on Nick's part to help ensure secrecy?

I'm slightly bothered by teen April, but if they make her intelligent and mature, I think it could work. I just like seeing April be an older sister to the guys. Yes, she can still do that here, but it'll be hard for her to counterbalance being friends with the guys to being in high school. But if this is the way they're going to go, I guess I'll just have to deal with it. I'll give it a chance and see where this goes. They may do something where April is being bullied and feels like an outcast. Then she meets the Turtles, who are outcasts, and feels she isn't alone.

I want to state again that I have no de facto problems with a teenage April, assuming she's done well.

But... maybe such a possibility isn't out of the question yet. A lot can happen between now and Fall 2012. A lot can happen over 26 episodes. And a lot can happen over a few seasons worth of episodes, assuming the show has some longevity.

Just in case anybody is confused, please don't interpret that piece of fanart to which I just linked to be in any way associated with the Nick project. It is merely fan art that has been around for over a year.

On the contrary, the only reliable visual description comes from VaughnMichael, has attempted to make the comparison to young Gwen Tennyson. It is only his memory, but that's all we have to go on at this point.

Although now that my mind is in a better understanding of the anti-2012 April group (or, at least the ones who are slightly displeased about it), I'll still have to say, teen April remains a fun thought.

As one of the people that wrote a lot of those words about April I just want to say I personally don't have any ill feelings against teen April. At least not until I see how she is written and performed and what type of character she is.

My issue was the fact some people where trying to defend her by making it look like the long established motherly relationship April has had with the guys was creepy/weird or twisted and that made me sad

I doubt that they will design April to look younger than a teen simply because we've all read that the show is set to be targeted to the teen market (PG+ and all that).

After all the show is called TEENAGE mutant Ninja Turtles and we know that Don is going to have a crush on her. Can't see the show lasting long if the tallest Turtle has a thing for a 12 year old.

EDIT: In response to Teen April, I originally didn't like the idea because it seems like a sad way to get to the demographic (like how Lucas included a 10 year old Anakin in Star Wars Episode 1, thinking that kids could only relate to other kids) but more that I think about it, the more I like it. It makes sense that the TMNT and April are the same age to me. It's going to fun having them grow up together (by that I mean developing as characters, seeing that I doubt the characters will actually get older as the show progresses... though that would also be cool in my opinion).

I always liked the dynamic between Bulma & Son Goku in the original Dragonball series. Goku was the diminutive, naive little warrior while Bulma was the slightly older yet very-immature peer who essentially dragged him out of the wild and introduced him to human civilization. I think that type of dynamic would be pretty cool for April & the TMNT.
