If it's not a sequel or a reboot what else could it be?

Just a new Turtle story...with the origin assumed as common knowledge.

Piss on this turd. I'm now convinced that this isn't happening for a long while. All these re-writes are a bad sign, but look at TMNT history:

The first movie came out during the 4th season of the OT.
"TMNT" came out during the 6th season of the NT.
We'll probably be well into the Nickelodeon cartoon before we get a live-action movie out of Paramount.

I doubt very much that Viacom would allow it's new baby to not get a movie treatment. Hold tight kids.

I am hoping that maybe this is a good thing. Maybe they are actually really serious about doing good things with this film and are not just going to settle for "what will make some profit" and instead hold out for "what will be a blockbuster".

Course only time will tell, but I guess with the comics and TV show coming out, I don't mind waiting a little longer for the film!

I wouldn't hold out too much hope for that at all. The original Fusco script was hailed as "the best TMNT story I've ever read" by one of the top guys in all of TMNT and was written as PG... and even STILL had to be rewritten because the studio felt it was "too dark."

A TMNT PG-rated movie that's "too dark" and has to be toned down? Yikes. Count me the **** out.

Haven't we heard producers Scott Mednik, and the Platinum dudes all say they want a "mood" along the lines of Batman? Where did you hear the studio called the script too dark?

I personally am not even looking for a super dark atmosphere. I mean I am honest with myself I know Turtles is not going to get the same revamp that Batman did with the super gritty story lines.

I just want an enjoyable, well written story. I mean something like Iron Man wasn't really dark, but I still enjoyed it enough to see it a few times at the theater.

Dude, Iron Man was PG 13.

I'm pretty confident we won't be getting another "TMNT". The producers sound like they #1. are really excited to be making big action movies now and #2. want the tmnt to "kick ass".

Really????Damn't that sucks. And how could they say that it was going to be P-G if the movie was not even made yet??? I garuntee u that if they thought it was two dark it was going to be PG-13. Heck when movies have trailers out, most of them arn't even rated yet! Look at the new Harry Potter movie its not even rated yet!

But that sucks that a script like that would be thrown out....

It was PG because the professional Hollywood writer who wrote it said it was. And the reason movies don't get rated till later on is because they haven't been screened in their entirety yet. If you have a PG-13 script but film 5 people having an orgy in the background of a scene, you're going to get an R rating.

So that means that the writer might have aimed for a PG script, but the movie might have been a PG-13 movie

Aren't these two things, like, the same or something?

Or do you mean that they wouldn't settle for a modest profit rather than the next BIG thing? To be realistic, I've never heard of anything close to being a blockbuster that had anything to do with Nick. That's not to say they can't surprise us. I just don't count on it.
