I hear you. I really would love to read the scripts, but fan art would probably just leave a bittersweet taste in my mouth.

That's not to discourage anyone involved in the project, of course. It's just my two cents.

When/if the scripts are actually in our hands, I think it'd be insane not to approach Chris Allan to see if he'd be interested in some level of involvement. That's a bridge to be crossed when it comes.

That said, the odds are low of him agreeing to pencil/ink the whole thing. One possibility would be securing any existing work he'd done so far in it, or on covers or such. If he were to say, "Yes! I'm down to draw the whole thing!" would anyone of sound mind tell him, "No, sorry, we're covered"? Probably not. But again, a bridge to be crossed when it comes.

And don't worry, the big "Is there a chance it can go official/be actually published?" will certainly be a thing exlpored when the time is right. There's just legal boundaries preventing that from even being entertained right now (oddly unlike the Image conclusion and other miscellani).

It would be great to see Allan have at least one more bit of involvement with the TMNT.

It might be interesting to contact Ken Mitchroney if Allan is out of the picture. I'd actually be ecstatic about that possibility.

Yep it's in the first post to this thread. You may also check out my gallery here:

And here's my fan comic SaiNW (on the english as well):

I just got an idea of Archie continuation by myself when FW was cancelled officially, and I found out about Buffy/Andrew involvement later. And yes, at the moment I intend to do pencil/ink to the comic.

And besides, I make my own fan-comic TMNT SaiNW: Beginning of the End. The first three issues are online, and the fourth is on the way. I know that I can finish what I start.

It seems you just misunderstood me. I mean that I don't care if the comic gonna be published in DH, Image or not published at all and put online. I just want all these fifteen years of waiting to end. If it's gonna be published, it's gonna be great! But I think it's too soon to discuss it right now.

I completely support this.

Yeah no offense but I'd love for Chris Allan to do this.
It's not that your style is bad or anything but something does bother me about the turtles eyes.
I can't place exactly what it is thats bothering me either it's odd, the work does strike me as fan art though(even though that's what it is lol).
But that may have allot to do that I'm a really big fan of Chris Allan & Ryan Browns art.
Hmm would you try and draw more like how the Archie TMNT comics look then if you got to do this?

This is kinda getting out of hand and there isn't even a script yet. We'll just have to wait until 2011. Of course it would be awesome if Chris Allan got involved with the project, we'll have to keep our fingers crossed.

I would also glad to see the FW made by Allan, and my desire to draw the comic, as I said, appeared after it was officially cancelled. I doubt that Chris will make the whole comic for free, just for fans. That's why I'm here.

About the art... It was made not for FW, it was just for fun. Of course if I'm gonna draw the FW comic, I will make it as more similar to Allan's work as possible.

I don't think anyone expects chris to do it for free, I think quite a few of us would chip in some cash to see this done correctly.

I have to agree with this... Now, I must say that I'd rather something official come out but having a fan made ending is still great to have... Especially with the caliber of art that some of ya'll on this forum can provide...

Ya know, if it weren't for it being advertised back in the day, and then hyped up again during last decade... no one would be clammoring for an Archie swan song.

61, Moon Eyes, and Year of the Turtle could all be used as finales, but the fact that we know Deave Murphain has one more script up his sleeve is what puts it in such high demand.

Also since Shredder was in the adverts, I'd like to see how they finish him off for good in the Archie universe.

Any chance of this project getting published officially by IDW, Andrew and Tristan?

I dunno man, all I saw was the announcement made just before at Wondercon. I think details of the deal and creative teams and whatnot are still under wraps...

It's now past June of 2011, is Murphy allowed to talk about TMNT again?

Technically, yes, now whether or not he does is another matter. His email is still good if you wish to send an email to him. He's staying busy these days but he'll eventually get back to ya.

Thumbs up

Just curious: what's the latest news on this? I've been wanting to see "Forever War" done/complete for awhile now (I was HUGELY disappointed whgen someone here said that it was permamently cancelled. ESPECIALLY when it (the mini-series) was advertised in the Free Comic Book Day Mirage 25th Anniversary reprint of Volume 1, Issue of the TMNT series), and I'm hoping that we hear something soon.

Actually, it would be great to see IDW pick this up and make an OFFICIAL end to the Archie TMNT series. Just have to wait and see, though, I guess.

The word is that Steve has had a bit of turnabout on things -- he's holding out on the hope that IDW might consider publishing the Forever War through official channels. He's going to give them some time to mull it over and if they either say no or sit on it for longer than a few months then it's game on with the original plan.

Oh dear, we fans once again have warrant to wistfully wish for the fulfillment of that long-awaited promise. Oh, how the jubilation will taste sweet if it miraculously leads to reality. Oh, how the disappointment will sting if it all comes to naught.

Just dangle the carrot in front of me and I'll start running after it.
