They really need a fan to be working on the line is some way. I know it is a business and they are trying to make money, however having someone who is passionate about the brand would help that. That type of person would know what the fans want more then just different versions of the turtles.

So you know if they are going to pull from all the different versions of the TMNT I'd really like to see an Old Hob figure. What do you think the chances of that are?

I'm guessing those chances are pretty slim at the moment, but it couls still happen.
On another note, think we can catch a glimpse of the new figures at Toy Fair? |

Working at ToysRus I've been looking at the Thundercats stuff that came out and really liking what they attempted to do. But I don't think they did it right. They have four different lines out and none seem to be doing well. My fear is that Playmates like Bandi doesn't know how to market the lines or is making to many different lines.
The Thundercats have a small 3 3/4" line, a "Classic's" Line, a Collector's line, and then 12" doll line. I think the Classic and Collectors should be one line. The difference in size is about maybe an inch or two. I mean if they had combined it they could have done some interesting things with the line in the future. They could have done "Then and Now" packs, "Crossover" Packs, or even BAF. Like I said just looking at what they attempted, and hearing that the Turtles are going to have a Collectors line and a main line doesn't scare me but it does worry me. I'll be trying to buy both my self like I'm sure many of you will. |

i am not a fan of building figurines not because you have to buy one of all because i am going to buy 2 of every one if not more but as one member posted before if they ****ed it upp and dont make and pack as mutch of every one you be stock with the body an missing the head and so on but of they do i hope they do like neca and make displays they can start with the street then go upp or down to the tmnt lair or april apartment above so you get a big play ground to display your toys that woued be cool and has never been done before i think.and i hope ther will be some news on the figures soon i woued kill fore a pic now it been almost a year and no pic this is going to slow

They have definitely kept us in the dark for too long in my opinion.

Couldn't agree more. It's ironic that it is in the care of a large company like Viacom that we'd see less advance content than ever.
Especially considering the preview event Vaughn & the gang went to. I can only hope it is due to lots of (good) revisions. |

Being that they are such a large company (and most of their shows are very good) they seem to have everything to gain and nothing to lose. They know that the longer they tease us, the more hyped up we'll get, and let's face it, in some senses TMNT has become very tired... so the challenge is bringing something fresh to the table for maximum consumption by the public while not "violating" any of the core concepts of TMNT. The IDW series has done a very good job of this so far in my opinion. There is a lot more to be gained or lost with regards to the cartoon and the toys...that's where they are going to either make or not make a lot of money.

It's Toy Fair in like 2 weeks, it's always a slow news period (for toys) after Christmas/before Toy Fair. It's like comic news (and these days a lot of collectable and even some film news) drys up in the run up to SDCC as everyone wants to save their big announcements.
Yes we've all been hoping to see anything after learning what was shown at the preview event, but realistically with the show not starting until Fall, Toy Fair was the most likely place for them to do the reveals. They could still easily have the products on the shelves by June/July (or even earlier) which is plenty of time before the show. |

I've been given the chance to catch up with the vintage figures and in the process have rediscovered other toy lines I had long loved but forgotten. And the experience has given me more pleasure than any of the 2k3 or Neca, yes i said it, figures ever did. New stuff just doesn't interest me anymore :s

Two requests from Playmates...
1. I'd love it if the sculpts for the old-toon figures resemble the season 1 look. The differences are subtle, but it makes a big difference for me. 2. Definitely throw some old-school 80's figure-like artwork on there. Not replica's, just the same style. I'm not even a guy who keeps his toy's in their packaging, but looking back at the artwork on those old figures, makes me realize that it was probably a huge part of what drew me to them as a child. Anyone happen to agree or know any facts about these? |
