Ok thanks for the info, I had seen the Leo and Mikey go a lot cheaper and wondered if that was a rare occurence or if the number of Donnies produced was that much lower.

Yeah, this is correct. Don fetches highest because they didn't produce as much of him, although despite the certificate of authenticity we STILL don't know the actual number produced. It's listed like the rest of the boys, at 2,222 pieces, but there is no way they made that many Don's. Maybe they did for Mike.

The story as I know it goes like this - Leo was released in a decent and somewhat generous quantity - he sold very well. So, when they released Mikey next (presumably the "most popular") they upped the quantity. It didn't sell out or as good, so that's why it's easy to find Leo and Mike.

When they made Raph they produced a smaller quantity than Leo, and when they produced Don (due to further sales declination) they made an even smaller quantity than Raph's. It's extremely hard to find a Raph, and Donnie is virtually impossible to find. Many who have one don't want to part with it (myself included ) and a lot of people are seeking it because it was that last piece they couldn't get a hold of in time.

The total produced has a lot to do with it, but there is also a difference in how they were sold. Both Leo and Mike were sold through Diamond and were available at comic shops and many retailers (Entertainment Earth bought a lot of them.)

Raph was solicited through Diamond, but due to delays the first round of solicitations were canceled. I believe it was solicited again through Diamond later, but I'm not positive about that. As I recall, Mirage also sold some if not most of them through their site.

Donatello was only available directly from Mirage's web site. And they did not do pre-orders. So while we don't really know how many were produced, it had to be a small enough run for Mirage to feel comfortable fronting the money for the entire run and trusting that they could sell them.

Raph was never resolicited, and was initially only available through Mirage. But a stash of them must have been found in a warehouse somewhere, because only a few years ago - maybe sometime around the 2007 movie release - Entertainment Earth ended up selling a bunch on their website for $99. Before that Raph was about as rare as Don, but now he's a little easier to find.

Thanks for the clarification. I wasn't paying much attention to the distribution for the first three as I received them as gifts. Donatello is the only one which I had to order myself.

The boxes are around 15 inches cubed

The Turtles are about 10 inches tall if standing straight. So Mike and Raph's statues are obviously shorter.

That's so funny...I saw that earlier today and thought, "So, this "rare" action figure is roughly twice as expensive as a TMNT #1 1st printing?" So funny what people think things are worth. At least the shipping is free. So funny.

So unless the seller snuck these in a version of the Sewer lid launcher WAS released with figures. :s I saw it advertised once but always thought it was an advertising error. Can anyone else confirm this?
