Old TMNT print

Mirage selling some old stock off... now I have this print, but the white space is a lot smaller, and there's no number. Does anyone else have this at all? I've sent the seller a message regarding it, given I knew nothing about it when I bought my version.

Yours is a smaller reprint they did for a convention if memory serves. The original is much larger, limited to 60 prints, and on matte paper.

Something I just noticed about my limited print that is interesting: Mine is 29/60, and also has Kevin and Peters signature on it (also in pencil, dated 1995). Curious.

I'm not sure who it was at Mirage who replied to my question (via eBay), but we did manage to come to some sort of conclusion between us. That is, the print I have probably came first, partly because Dooney stuck "1992" next to his signature, and that it was likely sold at conventions around that time (it was mentioned by them that Ryan Brown was still in Massachussetts, not Ohio, in 1992). The assumption is that whoever I got it from bought it at a show Mirage staff attended in 1992, and then got it signed by whoever was available at that moment. That being Kevin, Dooney, Farley and Lawson.

Then this "limited" version came later. Yes, it's definitely larger, the version I have is 13" x 10.5", although the actual print area isn't much bigger according to the stats in the auction. Can I ask when/where you got your one Archon, and how much you paid for it?

I'll admit, until this auction came up, I have not seen a SINGLE other version of this print at all aside from the one I own...

Fascinating that a Limited print run would come after an un-numbered run. The printed area of my print is roughly 12.25 x 16.

I purchased it from Motor City Comics at NYCC a few years ago. It originally came from the Brian Tatge collection. Brian had a REALLY impressive Mirage Turtles collection until he decided to sell it all off to Motor City.

Don't quote me on this, but I believe I paid in the $200-$250 range for mine.

Here are some pictures I took for you. Pardon the glare, it's framed on my wall.

Spoiler:

You know, looking through my pics and I saw that this one here 7/60 doesnt have Pete/Kevin, but does have 2 other sigs bookmarking it, looks like Ryan Brown and the other not too sure:

Is there one these out there that actually has ALL sigs on it?

Alright, so here's another 'Is it really worth this much?' question.

I saw a Metalhead figure for sale that the owner claims is undamaged, with nothing wrong with the bubble and card.

MOMC Metalhead

I was high bidder for a while, but there have been two other bidders along with me, both have ZERO feedback, and have joined eBay in the last month. Now, I think it's a little fishy, and really think it's the seller that's trying to up the price. I was fine with outbidding them both, up to $40 total, but now it's gotten up to $46. I'm not going to bid anymore even if it IS a good deal, because I think it's being pushed higher by the seller.

Honestly, I think I'll be receiving a 'Second Chance Offer' soon after it ends... What would be a decent buying price for a figure in the condition he says it's in. I'd love to have it, but only at a fair price.

Metalhead isn't THAT rare and I feel like it's WELL over the limit and the seller may be getting a great deal if all works out.

Here is a Buy it Now Metalhead MOC for quite less than what's on auction, even if there is some minor wear (but no price tag): http://www.ebay.com/itm/TMNT-METALHE...item1e66bad7e1

Bottom line: If you see a similar item with a Buy it Now price less than or equal to any item on auction, DON'T BID!

Like I said, I think it's being driven up by the seller. Of the two figures, I would rather have the price tag than to have the card warped like that.

I don't plan on paying anywhere near what it's at if he decides to do a second chance offer. The other buyers may be legit, but it looks fishy to me.

Shill bidding

l***e may very well be a shill bidder, given his 94% bid activity with the same seller. But beware as I've known people caught getting shill bid by trying to lower that bid activity by the same seller percentage by intentionally bidding on other items that they are near certain that they wouldn't win on, such as precious metals and items with reserves and no bidders, along with winning some items, the seller giving the shill positive feedback, and then canceling the transaction so the seller doesn't have to pay the final value fees. A common way for a shill bidder to bid is when a bidder has multiple bids with the same amount as the tops, bidding until he or she is the second highest bidder. The IP address can do a good job detecting shill bidders. Consequences can range from a quiz and a two week auction selling suspension to being no longer a registered user (expulsion) from eBay.

ebay is really REALLY good at catching shill bidders- if that is what is happening- i'd just say wait til the next on comes around- as was previously said metalhead is not all that rare, so it is better to buy from a seller you trust.

I have one that was given to me when I walked in the door of Turtle Con in '92. I don't have it in front of me, but the print is just barely larger than the image itself. Mine would have had all the signatures on it if I'd actually let the guys all sign it, but being 14 and wanting to keep it pristine I had them all sign an issue of the Archie series that holds a special place in my heart.

I've managed to collect most of the Mirage guy's signatures, but none of the Archie artists. I really should see about sending that around for autographs.

Yeah, I also want his Donatello figure for sale, but all the TMNT figures he has, the bidder I believe to be fake is bidding on all of them, usually bidding $1 at a time to see where the high bid is.

If he offers a 'second chance' price, I'll try talking him down a good bit, and try to get the Donatello if the real bidder doesn't want to buy it. If he doesn't go down in price, then yeah, I'm going to wait.

Also, there's a Flushomatic BIN for $60, but I made an offer of $25. He says it's sealed, but with a little wear. On Myteefinestuff a MIB sells for $35. Is $25 a good price for it (if he accepts it), or should I just wait for another one?

If the dude is using dummy accounts to up-bid on the item, I'd tell him to stick his "Second Chance Offer."

Well, yeah, if he tries to let me 'have it' for my highest bid, which was $40. I'll tell him I'll pay $20 plus shipping, plus I'd like to buy the Donatello figure. It just pisses me off, but then again, everyone says MOMC Metalhead's show up all the time, so I'll wait.

Thanks for that, I guess that would make sense if it was available at Turtle Con 92. And yes, the print I have matches your description, there is very little white space around the image itself. I wonder how many of those were given out then. Odd that I've never seen another one for sale aside from the one I bought. Nice to know there are a few others out there

@Archon - thanks for the images. Pity the auction in question is US only, and that I'm not exactly over flowing with cash currently, otherwise I'd think about bidding. Unless I manage to sell a few extra spare videogames to finance it, and have it sent to my friend over there.

Almost everything on MFS is overpriced, usually by a decent amount. So I'd say paying less than what MFS offers is indeed a good price.

as a seller of tmnt i would say 25 for the sealed flush-o-matic is fair, as long as the s&h is reasonable... but 60.00 is WAY TOO HIGH!
