I don't even know if it had one. I didn't see the auction until there were already 4 bids on it, so if it DID have one, it got erased with the first bid. I'm really thinking the person just posted it up to see how high it would get, instead of having a relatively low (now anyways) BIN price.

I don't think so anyway... Comes in that box and I guess you get one of the first produced. Plus having one months ahead of time. There's just so many reasons to want one.

As far as I know, there have only been two to sell on eBay, with prices of $250 the first time on February 15th, and FREAKIN' $200 on February 18th!!!! TWO HUNDRED!!! With the first price, and the astronomical price this Raphael will go for (it's already up to $305), $200 is a STEAL!!
And no, these are not what's going to be in stores, from what has been said on here (right?). The weapons will eventually be just mono colored, and I think skin tone will be a little different. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I have my eBay settings to alert me of new Toy Fair figures, so hopefully I'll catch the next BIN auction. |

The people who are lucky enough to get preview figures and then go straight to eBay -- and the people who buy them at outrageous prices -- are representative of nearly everything that is wrong with this hobby.

Yeah, the Leo was taken down because he ended up not wanting to sell it.
And it sucks that jackasses can get something like that for free, only to not be a real fan and just sell it on eBay. I'm sorry if at the moment I have the money to spend the outrageous amount it would to take to get one of these figures, but I don't see people selling them for reasonable prices, so while I have the money, I'd be proud to own one right now. Every toy line and sport has certain items that will fetch high prices, and this just happens to be one. Ten years from now it may only sell for $25, at which time the people paying this much will kick themselves. But on the other hand, what if $200-300 is a bargain now, because it will sell for much more in the future. I'm just hoping to get one now, because I'm impatient (if I'm being honest) to see the new line in August. But it would be a nice piece to have in a TMNT collection. And I'm sure it will be a piece that will be much wanted by TMNT collectors in a few years (like Scratch, MOMC Original figures, Mirage Vol.1/Iss. 1, etc). |

Well if they are different to what's being released I can see the appeal and the prices being what they are. I would love the Raph one but that will go up on price for sure before that auction ends. But it does suck that these were free to the people selling them and making what they are from them

My prediction is that the bubble is going to burst on these as soon as the retail versions start shipping. So I'm just gonna wait.

I think what he's saying is that the prices on these NY Toy Fair Exclusives will drop significantly once the retail stores start getting the regular figures.
I THINK I'm going to disagree. They might drop a little, to where they might sell for around $200 and no more, but like I said, I think they will be a hot commodity for collectors. I mean, how many were produced? 300 each? A limited supply of TMNT merchandise will always be soughtafter from TMNT collectors. So I don't think the price will drop TOO much. |

Yeah, I strongly object to the entire mentality you guys are exhibiting/encouraging/etc. right now. Don't want to derail the thread with a fuller discussion of it (I wrote quite a bit about it on Scary-Crayon, if you want to read); just wanted to say that.
I'm planning to paint my figures' weapons myself when they come out.

I have to disagree with this (to a point) - I've managed to get quite a bit of free stuff at Toy Fair over the years, from minimates to preproduction samples, most of which are lines I don't collect or have little interest in. I'd rather put the stuff on ebay (or offer it in trades) that just have it sit there. As far as I'm concerned, as long as I'm not setting out to make a ton of cash (i.e. by having low starting bids) I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

I agree. There are some people who do it for the sole reason to scalp people (See hot Christmas gifts every year). But I'm sure some also do it because even though they got it for free, they know someone else will buy it. And if someone lists an auction, it's up to the buyer, NOT the seller, to tell how much it's worth. Right now, obviously, some people think the figures from Toy Fair are worth a lot.
And Wes, I read your post about the Toy Fair, but nowhere in the article did it discuss anything about pricing of the figures. Good idea though on not posting pictures like everyone else. It does get tiresome looking for new pictures, only to see the same over and over again. Now, since this is an eBay thread, I won't say anything else about this topic, but I will keep a look out for other interesting items. |

Totally agree with Discogod...I sell a lot of collectibles on eBay and I get flaming emails from people all the time saying, "how could you sell for so much? - I'm just a poor collector" or "would you lower the price for me?"...give me a break! Every single one of you that balk at this turtle being so expensive would find no problem selling a toy you received as a freebie if it was something you had no interest in and saw that you could profit significantly from it. You're only saying you hate it because it's something you want and there wasn't a Buy It Now price on it for you to grab it for cheap...now it's going for more than you can afford but there are a lot of things we all want but can't afford...that's life. Why not be patient and wait out the hype market or just pay more for it and be done with it? eBay is a free-market system...things are only worth what people are willing to pay for them at the time that they sell and popularity drives prices up (not the seller) so why try to make it sound like these people are criminals? They list it and it sells for a lot of money...where's the problem with this? The world is not fair and no one owes you this figure for what you can afford to pay. I apologize for ranting here but this mindset and behavior simply needs to end. Oh, and one more thing...the ONLY reason your collections have value are BECAUSE of these prices. If everything sold for $5 then it wouldn't have much rarity or worth. Last edited by rich; 03-07-2012 at 10:30 AM. |

Totally agree. I was gonna say if I were at some toy fair like this & came onto pre-release promo pieces from a line I had no interest in (like He-man, for example) you can bet your god given ass I'd hop at the chance to get one. Why? To sell. C'mon. If there's a buck to be had, we all want it.

http://www.scary-crayon.com/blog/01-...ectibles-show/ Also, rich -- I totally would balk at that. Okay, now back to your regularly scheduled eBay discussions. (P.S. DG, if you ever end up with some TMNT merch you don't want -- like moar Aprils! -- hit up your pal Wes before going to the 'Bay. )
