I think I heard somewhere the sales of the 25th anniversary set of the OT werent steller in the UK, hence the reluctance to release more over here.

Well....besides the two skipped eps. But they are on official VHS tapes and can be found on youtube.
Some of us have it all 100% on DVD. Hook or by crook

Well these DVDs started in 2004, and it took all the way till 2012 to finish them. Obviously if they released maybe more than 1 set a year people wouldn't have lost interest.

There's also no doubt that many of those "casual fans" just picked up 2-3 DVDs out of nostalgia but never seriously had any plans to complete the collection.

When I look at listings of OT DVDs on eBay, while the occassional complete or near-complete set pops up, it's most often a single DVD or maybe two or three, sometimes mixed in with non-TMNT DVDs. Even some DVDs were sent to public libraries. And I can't wait to see what the animator interviews are about, given how the Red Sky era at the time had some pretty neat styles adapting to the darker tone.

Fun fact: The old toon DVDs started when the 4kids series was barely beginning its second season.

And now here we are with Season 10, coming out roughly a month before the Nick cartoon starts in the Fall.

The original cartoon DVDs were released over the entire span the 4kids series was airing up until the Nick show came out. Kinda funny to think we had this happening in the timeframe between two new shows.

Wow for once those boxart is all new, the Turtles aren't traced over previous stock art from the 4kids series or Imagi movie.

Well, the box art is... original.

That's all I'll say about it.

Other than the fact that all the Turtles now have baby blue eyes. And here I thought April O'Neil's eye color change was strange in Season 8.

Too bad they got the sky color wrong to fool some casual fans (along with no grappling hook on Michelangelo). Actually reminds me a bit of the second intro and some of the live action movie releases and one of the best designs used in this series.

I can't think of any classic toon artwork where Michaelangelo was weilding a grappling hook instead of nunchucks. Even back in the day the VHS tape covers showed him with his trademark weapon.

Not bad. None of the covers have really been that good so far. This ones decent though.

GUYSGUYSGUYSGUYSGUYSGUYSGUYS!!! Season 10 WILL have the missing episodes!

Quote:
On Monday of this week, Lionsgate Entertainment announced that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles - Season 10: The Complete Final Season is coming to DVD soon, bringing to a close the home video releases of the original 1987 series. Except that we quickly got feedback from our readers that this title would NOT REALLY close the books on the show, because two episodes from the fifth season had been missing off of that DVD release, and were never provided on any other season set to make up the loss. Fans worried that this would be the last opportunity for Lionsgate to provide those episodes: "Once Upon a Time Machine" and the double-length "Planet of the Turtleoids" special (which was re-run for broadcast in two parts).

We, of course, had notified the studio about this omission in the past, and followed up on it since then...especially following the recent announcement of this final DVD season set! We got our answer today, in the form of a retailer contact informing us that Lionsgate's information to sellers about this title was updated to say that the extras no "Also Includes 2 bonus episodes never before released on DVD!" And if that wasn't enough to convince us, we're grateful to a reader named "Aaron," who forwarded us this letter from the studio he got in response to his own inquiry:
Dear Valued Customer,

Hello Aaron,
Thank you for your patience. We have confirmed that the bonus episodes, Once Upon A Time Machine and Planet of the Turtleoids will be included in the Season 10 release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Should you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you,
LionsGate Shop Customer Service

All's well that ends well, then!
Holy CRAP! NOW I'm excited! We'll finally have the whole shebang! Lionsgate, on behalf of this entire fanbase, thank you so much. I can't friggin' WAIT to watch Planet of the Turtleoids in DVD quality!

Just saw that and nearly had a heart attack. They must have gotten fed up with all those emails and tapes that had been sent them.

Bad Ass!!!!!!!
I am a little shocked at this, I figured they would just skip over the episodes and then come out with a "collector's complete set"

YAY! I was going to say, it seemed like every DVD release was so full of negativity from the fans on here and while I understand the desire to have extra features, I was mostly just happy that the episodes were available to be bought and watched back easily in DVD format. Yeah they're not the best quality sometimes and they might never reach blu-ray format, and the box-cover-art isn't the best but at least they were consistent and now the entire series will be released. So many 80s and 90s shows never get that far.

But now I'm even more pleased that the two lost episodes will see a release as well and I hope everyone here can be happy about that. August 14th is a long way away... but after that, I can watch the series from start to finish!

At my house, we have the entire series (up to season 9) uploaded to a portable hard drive so we can watch them on TV without having to rely on the actual DVDs. So I can re-order them as well. I'm hoping that ongoing ordering project gets underway again soon so I can properly reorder the episodes and watch them as they should be watched, (ie. moving Leonardo Is Missing to season 6 and putting the Hokum Hare episodes at the beginning of season 4 rather than in season 5, etc).
