Why would Saban sell just the music of NT:TNM? And more importantly, who would buy it, and for what purpose?

Poor choice of words on my part. He sold all the music, not just TNM. Everything apart from TNM, ie Power Rangers, Beetleborgs, etc retains it's music on Netflix and one can assume the DVDs as well. Saban kept some rights to still use it as he sees fit however.

The issue with the music on TNM is likely with the artist who originally created the song.

Ah, anyway, what?

I second wanting a few extra features. Some new interviews would make this a lot more palatable. I'm sure they can find someone, even Eastman or Laird, with something to say. It doesn't have to be glowing. The Power Rangers crossovers would be nice as well. Although I have zero interest in that franchise, they're really as much a part of the series as anything else, and completely indicative of what The Next Mutation was, at heart.

Not that I expect them.

I don't think Peter Laird would go anywhere near these DVDs. Kevin Eastman would be okay with it I'm sure.

Shout! is interviewing fans apparently for the Power Rangers, so I kind of wish they'd do it here as they're known for that special touch. But Brian Ward told me that we really shouldn't expect huge level releases for the other properties in the Saban deal like PR is getting. Saddens me greatly, but I kinda understand.

My question still remains... sold to whom, and what would whom subsequently plan to do with it?

I assume to Disney when he originally sold all of his assets to them.

A familiar face, hey there Keifer!

The issue is in regards to Saban's music after he bought his shows back FROM Disney in 2010. Here's the original article.

He should be right at home with the Next Mutation soundtrack then.

'Sup, Mr. Orangey Yellow KO-guy! Nice to see you around these parts!

Ah, I thought he was asking who aquired the music from Saban in the first place. My mistake.

Shout does have the license for Power Rangers as well, and they've gone farther out of their way to put stuff on other DVD sets, so I'd say it's very likely to be on there.

BUT we have to let them know about the crossover episode. That's how Shout Factory puts together DVD extras, they ask the fanbases what they'd like to see on the sets. If we let Brian Ward know about the Power Rangers in Space crossover, it's much more likely to show up.

In the crossover, didn't the Turtles all have different voices than in the Next Mutation? I found that difference strange that they couldn't have the same VA's as the crossover episode when its made by the same people.

It's Ninja Turtles, of course we're all gonna buy it. I firmly believe in embracing even the lesser parts of things I love. TNM is one of the absolute worst things related to TMNT I've ever seen, but I can't wait to have the DVDs for completion's sake. Plus Mary never saw it, that's gonna be fun.

But, that wasn't Ninja Turtles. That was Barney in disguise.

Well, since "Shell Shock" is considered part of Power Rangers: In Space, if you want that episode, simply buy the PRIS DVD. But it wouldn't hurt to see bonus as a marketing ploy to sell more DVDs for this release, especially given that there is no DVD release yet for PRIS. But given that episode didn't come out until just before the final TNM aired, it would make more sense for this to be included in Volume 2's release. Shout, just don't charge too much for this (no more than $1.50 an episode) given the lukewarm reception,

Well yeah, that's what I was thinking. Include it as a bonus episode in the second volume as a tie-in with the Power Rangers releases.

It completes the Next Mutation experience and advertises other Shout Factory releases. Seems like a win-win to me.

At least that handily falls into the realm of "So bad it's hilarious."

TNM is just kind of ... bad.

Will still buy it.

Oh I seen 'em, I rented them both the same weekend when I was 12. I watched each one several times, just to confirm the horrors I witnessed were in fact real.

That's why I said TNM was "one of" the worst things ever. I thought Turtle Christmas etc. were implicitly understood to be the worst.
