I don't watch Ultimate Spider-Man. Is it a big hit with kids? Yeah. Does it suck? Yes. I outgrew it's kind of comedic tone years ago, and it doesnt offer up any compelling stories that I expect from a Spider-Man show, so I don't invest my time in it. I'm glad for it's success though, and as long as it airs, it has a chance to improve next year. I don't go on forums proclaiming "I'm eating my popcorn with a big dumb smile on my face hoping it'll fail[/trollface]". No true fan should want ANY version of TMNT to fail, as it could easily generate new fans, just as USM creates new Spider-Man fans despite it's flaws.

Leo is very much like that. He's outgrown the kind of audience this TMNT show is aiming for, and he's a clear change-a-phobe too, obsessed with interpretations only being "one way" (the comics way), which is just a f*cking bore frankly. Who wants to see the same song covered when you have the original to enjoy? That's why I'm glad the 4Kids cartoon wasnt 100% the source material, and gradually divorced itself from it over the course of it's seven years. If I want the source material..boom, I'd read a comic/trade collection.

I'm going to be invested in this show not because of the comedy (which I got enough of from Teen Titans) but because I'm confident the stories will be very enriching and rise the show above the kind of humour it's aiming for.

My opinion,

after watching all the clips, I feel... nothing... to me it doesn't feel good or bad... the trailers on IGN are bad, that's true, but the actual clips are... meh

While I may also enjoy Ultimate Spider-Man, the show itself has some pretty big problems that cripple it to some degree. Spider-Man is being portrayed as a rude, unresponsible jerk, the lack of character delevopment, and the self-contained story arcs that have no build up or reason. What opportunities that had were mostly wasted in exchange for "wacky, in-your-face" humor. It tried to be like Teen Titans and failed. Like I said, I still like the series, but it could have been so much better.

A lot of these complaints I'm seeing remind me of the early Fast Forward complaints, especially do to the "new monsters" and the Turtles seeming a bit more "fun" and less serious. And then people realized they were idiots because they found themselves enjoying Fast Forward later on.

Same will happen here.

I always feel a bit weird commenting on the new show stuff recently because everyone has such passionate reaction to the clips while I personally can't judge anything from these clips. I REALLY can't.

They said in the interview that the training clip from the con was "rushed" and other clips were sort of rushed pilots to give an example of the animation. Because of this (and may be because I am an animation enthusiast/student) the clips feel rushed and incomplete.

Some of them even feel awkward in timing to me as if they are test renders (is that just me?). Some aspects of the clips are really nice and smooth while I also found them to be jumpy and slower at certain points.

I am still enjoying what I see so far and excited to see the show in the Fall, though I am honestly confused about whether we are seeing any actual finished, fine-tuned clips or not.

I mean, they obviously have to have some eps done or nearly completed since the show will appear in September. I am just starting to doubt if they have them actually tv ready or not.

Also, can get off of Rob's back about the voice already? It's not a bad fit for Don and the real target audience of the show (as in the kids who will buy the products and such) would not remember OT Raph let alone been around to have heard OT Raph.

After looking back at some voices, I have realized I can point out Rob's voice (they all sounded so different when I was a kid!), but that is because I have something to compare it to. Except for us older obsessed fans, most of the people that is going to be watching this show will not have that type of relationship with his voice.
