Box Office Predictions for the new TMNT movie

The new Step Up film is now going to compete against TMNT on August 8. http://wegotthiscovered.com/movies/s...th-august-8th/ Those films have performed solidly at the box office. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/franchi...?id=stepup.htm And they are marketed towards females. However, back on the same weekend in 2009 G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra still easily topped the box office while most females went to see Julie & Julia. http://www.boxofficemojo.com/news/?id=2609&p=.htm

My prediction is that TMNT will still take the top spot while Step Up finishes in 3rd place or possibly 2nd place depending on how big the drop is for Guardians of the Galaxy.

That sounds about right. The last of those films opened in July 2012 and it came in 4th place and the franchise is experiencing some fatigue.

Step Up Revolution, Summit’s $33 million sequel, finished the weekend in fourth place with $11.8 million — by far the lowest for a Step Up movie. Diminishing returns were expected, though. The original Step Up, which starred Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan, opened with $20.7 million and earned $65.3 million in 2006. That's how I see it in America and I bet Guardians of the Galaxy will be at no 1 for a 2nd week (unless Planes: Fire and Rescue or The Inbetweeners Movie 2 beat it) here in the UK .

Edge of Tomorrow came out a week early and was up against Maleficent here in the UK which was a bad move because it's no 3 in the UK box office chart with X-Men no 2 and Maleficent at no 1.

But is this going to be a well-known movie? I've barely seen any promotion for it.

Yeah I no but UK don't get TMNT till October thats why I said that GOG will possibly be at no 1 for a 2nd week in UK.

Well don't forget people watch the Nick show, read IDW comic books, buy toys ect. On Twitter I see so many people only finding out about the new movie (some are excited) every day.

I have a feeling once the main trailer comes out and Paramount finishes with promoting Transformers, promotion for TMNT will exploded and get something new almost every day.

As it's been previously mentioned, many are predicting that Guardians of the Galaxy to open well during its debut weekend, but it will most likely take a big second weekend drop like most superhero films do. Even though X-Men: Days of Future Past had excellent word-of-mouth, it could not retain the No. 1 spot since Maleficent debuted the following weekend.

There's no doubt in my mind that GotG will succeed. I know I will probably want to see that one instead of TMNT myself.
