Damnit I still haven't gotten through season 3 yet... But I saw a preview, it looks neat.

The teeange aspect really shows in this version. Funny because despite the "teenage" in the title, I still use to see the turtles portrayed as young adults. I think this aspect will help kids relate to the turtles more. Especially when it comes to pretending to be them when playing outside. Still waiting for that moment where I look outside my window for a kid to pretend to be Leo pretending to be Captain Ryan, though.
I Love geeky Leo, Best Leo ever!
Seeing a kid pretending to be Leo, pretending to be Captain Ryan? That would be great. Hey some of ya'll with kids set this up for us, and post in to YouTube for all to enjoy!!! My kids are to young...

The "spice" ticks him off first... But then April makes some comment about squishing bugs too that makes him mad.

Enjoyed the 2001: Space Odyssey reference in the beginning. Leo was pretty funny in this ep too. His face was hilarious when he was putting on the space helmet. You know he's been waiting his whole life for that one moment.

And here's to the beginning of season 4, of the Nickelodeon of TMNT series. For the past three seasons the Turtles have had quite a journey since the first day they crawled out of their sewer lair back when this series first began.

In season one they experience the city for the first time, and have their first major victory in the battle against good and evil.

Season two they suffer their first major defeat at the hands of the Kraang and are forced to flee the city to recover from their wounds and ultimately return to reclaim the city.

And lastly in season three, they have been forced to grow up in many ways be it through the discovery of first love, to being forced to step back and see how ones pursuit of love can have negative results. To even experiencing not just defeat, but absolute failure in their attempts to save the world.

In this new season the Turtles journey has taken them far beyond the universe as they know it...into the depths of space itself. Now while our favorite Turtle's have gone into space in other incarnations. But this is a new spin on to the Turtles in space story line.

In the finale of season three, the Turtles had just witnessed their master being murdered and moments later watched as their world was sucked into a black hole before their very eyes. And season four episode premiers just moments after the events with the Turtles sitting with their grief at the losses they have just suffered.

Personally I wished they had a longer moment for them to really absorb the gravity of their defeat. But the new adventure must be acknowledged, as the Fugitoid sends the Turtles six months backward and in time. The Turtles are now tasked with obtaining the three pieces of the Heart of Darkness before the Triceraton's do so they can prevent Earths distruction. And to make it more imperative that they are successful this is their only chance to change events, if they fail the Earth would be destroyed for good and ever.

This is giving the Turtles hope for a better outcome that they would be able to save both the earth and Master Splinter. Which is truly the best case scenario, but the best case isn't always the resulting outcome in the end. I will talk more about this subject another time.

Moving on with the episode we are introduced to a space port on the Planet Varanon that is not unlike, Moss Eisley from Star Wars. It's even mentioned that place is frequented by Smugglers, Pirates, and other low lives. The Turtles also in inadvertently interrupt a drug sale at one point.

There has been some fan complaints about the Turtles actions while on this planet because all of them end up pissing off people through out the space port. Personally I didn't see any actual fault on the Turtles part, after all they are in a place where they have the freedom to walk around like normal people. It's easy to forget that they are still strangers in a strange land, and for most of them the actions done were not intentionally or in the case of Leo were just a complete misunderstanding. Still I am glad the issue wasn't just with one person with the group such as Mikey or Raph and Casey who are the most at fault with their actions. This way they all are still given the fish out of water treatment when it comes to the way things work around that place proving that things aren't like they were on Earth. And at the same time it also introduces us to one of the major big bads of the season, Lord Dregg.

I admit I don't know much about the Red Sky seasons since that was one of the points when I began to lose interest in the OT cartoon, so I can't speak for Lord Dregg in is original appearance. However this version appears to be an all new interpretation making him into an all new character, It would be certainly interesting to see how he will play out in this series, particularly since we have Mona Lisa and Armaggon appearing in upcoming episodes.

Another character that was interesting was the character of Valaxena AKA the alien girl that Leo was hitting on at the bar. The show has given her a name, so that could imply that she could have another appearance in the future. But I don't think she's completely important and if this is the last we've seen of her or her boyfriend Chupo AKA Big Harry Monster (as he is called in the credits). I'm not disappointed.

For the turtles it was awesome to see the Turtles adapting to their environment and Leo geeking out about the fact he was actually living his own personal Space Heroes Fan Fiction was fun to watch. Was this a good premier, yes. It wasn't the best premier for a season opener, but it far from the weakest. And it really sets things up going forward which I hope can really deliver a strong season for this series.

Until next time.

It really reminded me of Clone Wars. Also I'm late getting to the thread but does anyone else think it's odd that when we see NYC there's like 3 people in the whole city but they can animate a whole dang planet with completely unique creatures all over the place and make it look like a booming metropolis? Is this maybe because the budget now is even bigger? Just an observation is all.

More than likely a budget issue. If this was a traditional 2D show, I'm sure it wouldn't even be an issue.

I was able to watch this episode again and I was just wondering if anybody else is hearing something the way I am. When Lord Vringath Dregg says his own name about eighteen minutes into the episode, does it sound like he adds an extra syllable to his name? It keeps sounding to me like he says Vrin-(a or i)-gath. I was just wondering if anyone else was hearing that like I am.

I noticed some (or maybe it was just one) background character that was just a 2D drawing that didn't move. Like you have in anime sometimes.

I was very skeptical about the fourth season with the turtles going into space, but I was pleasantly surprised with this episode. New backgrounds and environments, the turtles and their reaction to their spacesuits (Especially Leo geeking out), their "adventures" on the alien planet and seeing them act as teenagers, and of course the introduction of Lord Dregg.

I definitely like Dregg's design, although I first assumed he was a second-in-command of Dregg or something.

Very entertaining episode, and written in a good way.

Yeah, he's upset about the Star Spice because it was rare and valuable. And for people who feel it was just a grocery there was a time in history where certain things we commonly used in cooking such as coffee, nutmeg and even common vanilla were considered rare and valuable as well.

But yeah, April's comment about killing bugs was probably not the smartest thing she could have said to Dregg right then.

Yea, that feels more like something Raphael would say.

Love the Fugitoid. I wished a little TARDIS made a cameo appearance. That would been cool, too.
