He’s creaming his pants over it, really.

He reiterates what the rumors have been saying about a “shocking” climax.

Reiterates that there are many horror elements.

Mentions the grey morality of all the characters - no one 100% virtuous or evil.

Very atmospheric experience.

Most of all, he seems to think of it as a watershed moment for comic book adaptions.
And that’s where I’d be most skeptical… but for context everything he says outside of his review of the film sounds pretty level-headed to me, and I can agree with a lot of his sentiments. So I may be ripe to enjoy this film but I’m not going to get overhyped. I’m pretty sure I’m going to dig it but no clue how much.

I can't for the life of me imagine what could possibly qualify as "shocking". But then again I'm pretty jaded.

If I had to guess it would be something like, "Bruce finds out his parents were really Bad People after all and it forces him to question the motivation for everything he's ever done." But even that wouldn't be the least bit "shocking".

((Shrug)) Maybe Penguin is his real dad. That would be pretty shocking.

If someone gave me money every time when reviewers describes another Hollywood blockbuster as a "watershed" thing for the industry, I'd be a rich person.

There have been a lot of “watershed” moments in the genre over the last couple decades or so though, quite arguably.

Can’t really imagine how this film will change the game. I think it looks good but I’ll be surprised if I walk out feeling that way. Maybe that’s part of the trick though.

Press screenings last couple nights.

Some stuff popping up on social media. "Fire" emojis, someone describing the film as "coal-black noir", and someone mentioning how it truly separates itself from other versions, including Nolan's....which would be sort of funny considering how people have written this off as a Nolan-clone.

Seems WB is quite confident and showing the movie off. Reactions have been very positive. Of course, this is never a guarantee. Film could still be awful for all we know.

Edit: watched some more of the videos from the guy who’s seen the movie. He ranks his favorite Batman movies. The top 3 are:

Kind of interesting. He ranks Dark Knight at like 5 or something. I definitely don’t have Batman Begins that high on my list, so who knows if I’ll feel the same as him.

I'm sure it's going to be entertaining. It's almost impossible to do anything with the Batman as an I.P. and have it not be to some extent.

It's more like "is this the Batman movie you wanted to see on screen" is the thing that will resonate with the disappointment or excitement.

I'm just going in ready to embrace someone else's vision, which looks pretty good to me.

For a long time, I was disappointed that we weren't getting the Affleck version, and Reeve's taking over left me disappointed, but judging by the trailers, this film-noir inspired tone, the likes of "Seven" and other dark mysteries is exactly what I was expecting Ben's to be, before we learned more about it post-mortum.
So, all in all, this worked out great for me. Turns out Ben's take was supposedly more akin to a James Bond type action film, which isn't quite as appealing to me personally.

That comment is going to upset so many people. Pretty sure Pattinson gets off on trolling. It’s actually pretty funny. I saw this montage of interviews where he ***** on Twilight. Worth a chuckle. Just sort of constantly taking the piss out of it and questioning the plot.

That said, his comment is true but not accurate. There are all types of DC comics. Some are “emo”, sure. Plenty aren’t. It’s whatever though.

I can agree with a lot of that.

I can also understand being burned out on the superhero genre right now. Not saying it’s in decline, because it’s actually improving all the time and as popular as ever, but we have been inundated with it, for sure. I’m a tad burned out myself, even though I really enjoyed No Way Home.

That’s actually one of the thing that appeals to me about this movie - whether or not people think it’s derivative of Nolan’s films, it still has more of a handcrafted, personal touch than most of what’s out there right now. That’s also what excited me about Joker. Even if they change some things or aren’t perfect, they don’t feel quite as manufactured as most superhero movies.

So I guess that’s a sign of me being partially burned out on the genre but still excited to see it go somewhere bold and fresh.

Honestly edgelord and edgey are pretty much the same thing, as in one is extension of the word. At least emo is a whole other word. When someone gets too edgey, I still see people saying either 'whoa now, trim down some of that edge' or 'slow down edgelord'.
