So, why did splinter force them to trade? If you think that they should learn how to fight with different types of weapons, you gotta teach them how to do it first. That's what training is for, learning. The whole point of the exercise was for them to learn to adapt in case they lost their weapons, not to force them to fight dreadful enemies with a big handicap.
I too found that to be slightly implausible. I get not being adept with the weapons after trading, but they acted almost as if they never held them before.

They also missed a great bonding moment for the turtles. There is a scene, in which they are all in the lair, either contemplating or practising with their new weapons, trying to get the hang of them. Wouldn't it have been great if, idk, Raph came up to donnie and was like 'hey, you are doing it wrong', and then proceeded to teach him a few basics on how to work the sais. Then donnie could have done the same with leo, and so on and so forth.
I attribute that to pacing. We had a lot of things that needed to be addressed in this episode. Lessons about adapting, lessons about accepting responsibility. Consequences of failing to listen to warnings. And the confrontations/fights... Bonding would've been nice, but I think it would have affected the pace.

Another thing that bugged me was when the foot ninjas were taking timothy to the warehouse. Why on earth would you use bikes for that? You literally have a van in which dogpound travels all the time, why not use that?...
From a brand standpoint, this is clearly a signal: "Hey kids, new awesome toy to collect! Get on it!"

Storywise, I like to think that it was a way for the Foot to be seen. They're short on Foot soldiers- I see it as a way to advertise to potential members. Think about it, some young punk with time on his hands sees these awesome bikes with cool banners speeding past. It'll peak his interest at the very least, maybe even to the point where he'd join up. As for Fishface riding out there, if they're fast enough, hey could be mistaken as a mascot.

I know, doesn't hold up much water. I'm grasping at straws trying to make that work in my head.

I'm gonna deviate here for a second and ask a question about the shellraiser: since they lost the power cell, how the hell are they powering that thing?
Donnie installed a bulky generator in its place.

Moving on, another great moment was when the foot locked the turtles inside the warehouse, and they were like 'we are trapped!', completely dismissing the fact that they came in through a freaking window.
I just assumed they panicked. They just watched some guy they were trying to save get oozed and turned into a blob. Same reason they threw their improv weapons. By the time they finished containing Mutagen Man, there was no time to haul the container out of the building through a window.

Agreed with the review. IGN's Max Nicholson is pretty much the perfect guy to review this Show! Can't wait for his Complete Season 1 Review.

Great Episode indeed.

I'm really surprised everyone thought he would become Newtralizer, ever since Mutagen Man was announced as appearing, I knew it would be ol' Pulvarizer because Mutagen Man is the most tragic character next to Muckman. And I couldn't think of any other character then him. Then it become very apparent once Mutagen Man was shown on the comic cover and then Donatello kept warning him. Careful what you wish for Pulvarizer.

That being said, I loved this episode and can't wait to see what happens to Mutagen Man next, there's so much potential with him.

And Shredder and the Kraang may have an alliance. Interesting.....

Also, I wonder if Mutagen Man will talk in this version or will he be like Justin and Spy Roach?

I'm guessing Donnie will hook up a voice device to his suit once he makes it.

I thought that perhaps that Splinter could have let them use their own weapons in battle since they're already familiar with them. Plus the battles would go more smoothly. Then they could have just trained themselves to use each other's weapons when they're not battling.

"Insane in the Membrane" was messed up too, but "The Pulverizer Returns!" just disturbed me a lot more. To think that they decided not to have "Insane in the Membrane" air in the US because they thought it would be too gruesome for kids. I'm a grown ass man, but yesterday's episode just made me sick.

I had a dream last night that I had an encounter with an insane surgeon who was removing a corpses intestines. I was watching over him but then he cut off one of my fingers and wanted to sew it back somewhere obscene. I can't help but wonder if this episode didn't influences my subconscious. Freaky.

Don't feel bad at all! The first thing I thought about in the morning was Timothy screaming and running in circles. Ugh. I felt so uneasy and sad watching that scene.

Was it just me, or did the Mutagen container have a sort of "humanoid" appearance before it was emptied? I have a feeling that Donnie will use some of Metalhead's tech to make Mutagen Man look more like his original self somewhere down the line.

Man.. Looks like this episode is really messing with people's heads.. I myself can't stop thinking about how painful that must have been.. It just sat there on his skin.. and it melted his skin and bones..

How would you like your skin burned off and only your organs remaining? Is that funny?

Okay?? Well I personally thought his mutation was just... meh. I would have preferred something a little more complex. But that's only my opinion. And sorry, he did not seem scary to me. Gross? Of course.
